I booked the hotel online under hotel.com for my one night stay with my hubby on 15april 2012. I was impressed by the hotel room w the glass toilet so i booked the standard room without realising that this room is without the glass window. I was very upset since my intention to booked the hotel is due to that features. I tried telling the receptionist […] that im willing to pay more just to get that room and i dont mind upgrade i but she seems to be not helpful at all. When i got my key to room 905 i noticed the bedsheet and carpet have black stained on it. it was such a disappointment as this is my second time booking in that hotel. I hope they can upgrade on those old stains found on the linen. 더 보기

Its my first time staying in this hotel as per recommended by friends and found out that it was a lovely and comfortable place to stay in rooms were big, bathroom was big as well ,wardrobe was also big with a iron board though hair dryer has to be requested. One thing to note though i requested for bathrobes and a bucket of ice and was charge for it […] .i would assume that a hotel of this caliber would be complimentary.Was disappointed in this area. was also disappointed on the knock knock service as when we were hungry late at night there was no one to pick up the phone for in room dining services. called the reception also to no avali. Went there for a 1 night stay at JB, the picture and the hotel room doesnt match AT ALL, imagine my disappointment. It is located at a top of the hill top, nothing at all in surrounding area, if wan go shopping must take cab luckily nowadays cab run using meter so not that bad. nice hotel...no complaint...

Had a 3D2N stay on 27-29 january 2012. My partner is a particular person when it comes to room. She enjoyed the stay and we were impressed by the big bed which can easily cater for 3 person or even 4! The location might be a small little bit inconvenient but then, is peaceful!!! But then, you wouldn't want to have crowded and noisy surrounding thanks […] to the road which is what i like about this hotel. Getting to this hotel from the checkpoint (link between singapore and malaysia) is only about RM 12 which is definately affordable. The hotel cater shuttle bus to nearby mall too. All in all, nice friendly staff, relaxing enviroment, great room and affordable price which i told my partner that i'm going next month for a night stay since i want to enjoy the cheap massage in malaysia. 더 보기

Outlook of the hotel gives a grand impression. However, my expectation drops to ground zero after entering the room. The pillow is bad, shower is not adjustable it is at most a 3 star quality hotel. I will not recommend to anyone. Unless they overall the room.

Overall is fairly good. Service like checking in to rooms is reasonable. Not much restaurant and shops in hotel premises. Good location as it is very near to JB central with a short drive.

First impressions were not good - The car park area looked dirty and the car park elevator was run down. We arrived 15 minutes after the specified check-in time but was told we needed to wait for another 30 minutes before the room was ready. The receptionist did not offer late check-out to compensate. Superb views from our 7th floor room overlooking the Straits and across to Singapore. Friendly front desk staff and good pool. Conceirge staff excellent and went out of their way to help us with any query and request we had. Great shuttle bus service to a range of shopping malls.

Did not have all Full TV channels for 4 star hotel. It was a shame we have to miss the english soccer match between Manchester UNited and city .

I found the staff friendly and courteous. And the hotel was comfortable...think it could be the soothing color scheme and the decor. Didn't get to try out all the facilities but would come back to do so.

A value for money hotel. Staff is especially nice. Reception was polite and had a good command of English. We got a free upgrade of room. Hotel is nice as it is new. Great for family stay. Not too far away from the city centre and in a quiet neighbourhood. We wanted to stay in Jhor Baru before going to Singapore. The room they initially gave us after standing 30 minutes in line to check in was a smooking room even though we reserved a non smoking room. The hotel was loud and noisey and the staff did not care about the guests.

Overall hotel stay is good. Room overlooking the sea and swimming pool is fabulous. The receptionists were all very polite and helpful. Just find that there re alot of dusts under the lamp and dirts on the cup and pantry setting.

Room is leaking at night. Water dripping has much disturbed our sleeping

I stayed in the hotel for 3 nigths and it was very good experience, everything worked well. t The pool area was very nice eventhou you could hear the voices of the big road next to the hotel, the gym, saunas and jacuzzi were free of charge for hotel guests, and expecially the gym was very good for a gym of an hotel. The breakfest was very diverse. […] But the restaurants in the hotel very, very expensive also for an one who comes from the nordic countrys. Hotel is strategically located near the JB and Singapore border crossing. Quite a scenic view from the hotel window, looking towards the Selat Teberau. Close proximity to food centres, mosque and gas stations. I would recommend this hotel to travellers, both local and foreign.

I stay for business trips quite a few times and have always found the staff friendly and helpful. Room and bathroom have always been clean and well presented. I have stayed in standard and deluxe rooms (when give free upgrades!) with either sea or rear views and found little difference. I think one of the deluxe I stayed was a bit bigger but basically […] the same format. Check in no fuss and efficient. As I have tended to eat out with business colleagues I have only eaten at the hotel restaurant by the pool a few times. It has a relaxed atmosphere, the food is good, with reasonable prices for a 4-5 star hotel. My only regret - I wish I had more free time to relax and enjoy the calm atmosphere of the hotel and gardens! The pools and water slide look so inviting! 더 보기

Thistle is a 5 star hotel located in Johor Bahru, a city directly north of Singapore separated by Johor Strait and linked by Causeway highway. There is also free shuttle bus service that takes you to the center of the town 4 times a day. An affiliated travel agancy J&C Travel has an office inside the hotel. You can arrange private tour and take day trips to other parts of Malaysia. Melaka City is a perfect place for such tour. The Thistle in Johor Bahru is an extremely pleasant four star hotel which is excellent value for money. It is well located in a good area of the city, close to the Causeway to Singapore. Front desk staff requires to be more customer orientated. They seem to forget they are in the service industry and that the guest is their customers.

We really enjoyed ourselves at the Thistle recently. Our room faced the sea with a huge semi circle window, so we had great views of the sea in the daytime and went to bed looking at the pretty lights on the boats and ships. The swimming pool has a slide, which earned raves from my 7 year old daughter, and the seafood barbeque buffet was worth every […] cent. The breakfast buffet in the morning was also pretty good. We were very impressed with the service provided by the hotel staff: during our stay, the entire locality, including the hotel suffered a power loss - the hotel dealt with the situation with panache, and we suffered minimum discomfort. In their website it's state that they are in the city and shop are walking distance but we did not encounter that!!!!

Thistle has practically everything a good 5 star hotel will have. From pool to indoor jacuzzi, gym, sauna to restaurants. Thankfully, i was upgraded to the Deluxe Room during my check-in. There is also a dedicated hotline whereby u can just call for service at a touch of a button on the phone. The staff are pretty quick in delivery. Better quality and level of luxury and lower price. The travel from Johor to Singapore is doable, only downside is the long queues and waiting times (chaos) for crossing the causeway bridge when travelling back from Singapore to Johor in the evening. Fastest time (when prefilling paper work in hotel) from hotel to Singapore MRT station in Singapore center was 1 hour. Longest time it took us from Sentosa back to hotel was 4,5 hr (first time going back to Johor from Singapore). Tip: take multiple copies of the paperwork from both borders so this can be prefilled to save time when crossing the border. Take taxi directly from hotel to Border Malaysia, from there take a bus to cross causeway bridge, at woodlands border (singapore) take whatever you want (taxi or bus) Would stay here again when visiting Singapore, especially if it's more than 1 or 2 days. 더 보기

Staid initially for 1 night only (to check out the hotel), the first impression was very good. When stepping in hotel lobby i got a good luxury feeling. The first room we got, had some water damage and the cleaning machine for removing the water from the carpet floor was still in the room. We decided to complain and ask for a new room. Absolutely *nothing* was correct with the reservation that we had made with this hotel. I cannot say if it was the reservation service (hotels.com) or the hotel staff, but it turned out to be a major inconvenience. Generally very pleasant atmosphere. Nice, neat and clean after the renovation. Some staff are not smiling or friendly, though polite. Situated on a little hill, whihc is quite exclusive and quiet. Not far from Town, easy access to town with car. But hotel does offer free shuttle services to big shopping mall, eg Jusco and City Square.
