"Under Renovation"
The old Radisson is under renovation. Stay away for the next 6 months or so? Holiday Inn in future? But for the time being? This property will return, but, how long will it take? This summer 2012 might be still risky? Remember, full, renovation?
"New London Plaza Hotel"
When the hotel renovations are complete, I am sure it will be a much better place to stay. The breakfast was terrible. No spray for the waffle machine made them stick and fall apart. A patron was squirted by the syrup machine. No one was manning the egg station.
Only problem is that it was under construction. my overall stay was wonderful

The Hotel is very pretty from the outside, the inside is elegant although they are under construction. The rooms are large, airy and very clean. "Sadly, very poor hotel and service...."
We are local CT residents who stayed overnight due to a concert at Mohegan Sun, which is common for us to do. This was our first time at this hotel. I'm sad to say that it was a complete dissapointment. My husband and I travel locally and internationally often, and we are not picky people at all. However, this hotel and its accompanying service was […] very poor. Upon arrival, we signed up for a shuttle to the casino....the driver reaked of smoke. I am allergic, so I had to sit as far away as possible. He drove through a red light and then upon our return back to the hotel, left us standing at the valet! He departed the casino five minutes earlier than our scheduled "pick-up time" and we ended up waiting for another hour to return to the hotel. We called the hotel and asked about other options, including them helping with the $40 cab fare if we took an alternate form of transportation back to the hotel, and we were told the shuttle would return immediately. He did not return for an hour. The receptionist had poor customer service and professionalism....he actually said "What do you want me to do about it? That's not my job, so that's not my problem." Our room was dated and had a terrible view (rooftop and smoke coming from a chimney), but the beds were okay. We had booked a King size bed, but were given two double beds (not even a queen). The receptionist at check-in had dandruff that was very visible and some sprinkled on to our paperwork. It was quite disturbing. The lobby was non existent as there were boxes everywhere due to the conversion in to a Holiday Inn in the future. No problem. The pool is out of order. No problem. Neither of those things bothered us, but they should announce that or tell customers if they expect those services listed and adverstised. Our room heater worked, but was very noisy. "TERRIBLE! Not a 3.5* hotel AT ALL"
Rooms have a Sleep Number bed. Our bed didn't have a remote, so it was as hard as a rock all night. Although it's supposed to be a nonsmoking hotel, our room smelled like old, musty ashtrays. The wallpaper and carpets need to be replaced in order to get the smell of old smoke out of rooms. It was so bad that I had to open windows and run the air conditioning […] and spray the room with deodorizer just so I didn't get a terrible headache. The water pressure was good in the shower, but the soap tray was tilted downward, so it didn't even hold the soap. The room was large, but really no more special than something I'd get at a Motel 6 or another motel chain. Arguably the worst part was the ride in the elevator which made such horrific noises, I had a real concern about whether we'd get stuck inside or whether it would plummet to the ground. The staff, rooms, condition - all very good for the price. However, if you are new to the area, or don't know it very well, it can be hard to find, specially if you are not coming off a highway. I usually go to foxwoods, and end up staying here if other hotels are not available. "What a dump!"
Stayed here on business. Shower was not hot so I called the front desk. Was told that I need to let it run for 7-10 minutes. No luck. Desk told me they were having problems and I could move rooms. The service at this hotel was poor and staff were not responsive to our two main complaints: 1. We had no hot water in our room (we had cold showers!) 2. We were the first to arrive for breakfast yet the trash bins were full. There was sticky syrup residue on the buffet table and other stains all over the tablecloth. The tables had crumbs and stains […] on the table cloths and many of the napkins with silverware were unwrapped and loose on the table giving us the impression it was left from the night before. We dared not eat there. So we thought at very least we would make coffee or tea to go but the milk and creamers were warm! We were so unsatisfied with our stay we asked to speak to a manager and was told there was no manager on site and no one to address our concerns. Next time we will stay somewhere else. "Almost Alright"
I reserved a room with a king bed. When I arrived they provided a room with two full size beds. The desk clerk wasn't able to provide a room with a king bed so he offered a suite with a king bed. The room was larger but there was no coffee maker for a morning brew. The bathroom was clean and the bathtub was an insert over the old tub and walls. When […] you stepped in the tub, water could be heard squishing between the original tub and the insert. Who knows what was growing in that water? Breakfast was served from 6-9 am. When I arrived they most tables had not been bussed. I tried to make a waffle however the batter was SOUR - it was OLD mix that should have been replaced. Some of the dishes and glasses weren't clean. There was one waiter who did his best to help. The location was easy to find, close the highway and close the event I attended. I would DEFINITELY NOT recommend this place. We were supposed to have a king size bed and got 2 doubles. The matresses were the number system. Only 1 worked. There was a hole in the wall. One of the bedspread throws had grease or mascara on it. The filter for the ac was on the floor. My husband had to fix the sink stopper so water could drain when brushing […] our teeth or washing our hands. Only 1 light out of 3 in the bathroom worked over the sink. The shower soap holder didn't hold the soap. It was sloped too much. VERY disappointing. It is not even close to a 3.5 star rating 더 보기
The hotel is in the process of name change and renovation. Everything is clean and well managed and the remodling seems to be well organized. We chose the hotel because we were attending a function at Mohegan Sun. The shuttle van was appreciated.

Room was clean, bed comfortable. Breakfast buffet was good even though they opened 30 minutes late. The hotel pool was closed for maintenance with no mention on website and nothing at time of booking. Staff was less than enthusiastic to be having to work. Courtesy shuttle interior in rough shape.
"Great location, under management change"
I booked this hotel because it was discounted on this site at the time, and I was staying for a week in New London. The hotel is just a few minutes walk to the downtown area and the boardwalk. At the time I stayed (Sept. 2011) it was in the process of changing owners (formerly the holiday inn I think). The hallways and elevators are a bit drab and worn […] down, but the room was decent, and the sleep number bed was a cool plus. It's one of (or the only) hotels in the downtown area of New London, and I would still recommend it despite the condition because of the location. "Desperation Needed to stay here!"
The only reason I stay here is because it is exactly where I have business that I need to attend to in New London. There has been the "Holiday Inn Coming Soon" sign in the lobby for almost a year now. It is apparent that the people who currently own and operate this Hotel do not care, nor do they wish to up keep it. The lobby is actually pleasent to […] look at, but you sleep in a room not the lobby sofa! The elevators are stained carpets, chipped and scratched wood walls and smell musty. You step out into a hallway with ripped stained carpets, broken light fixtures and doors to the rooms that do not close properly.(loose doors and the safety latches are not hung properly). The inside of the rooms feature Sleep Comfort beds...I've tried three times now, I just cannot get comfortable in any position, number, or otherwise. I always wind up sleeping sideways. The television reception is horrific (it seems to be like this everywhere in Connecticuit)...and there was once again mold in the bathroom and water stained, chipped ceiling tiles above you. On the positive side...the rooms are quite large, the desk and work areas are nice and comfortable and most of the furniture is ok. The girl in the lobby who checked me in was very professional and helpful, she recognized me from a previous trip. She asked if everything was ok during my stay when I returned to the Hotel at midnight. I refused to eat in the Hotel restaurant because I saw two couples leaving the next morning in aggrevation because no one was there to seat them and they waited 20 minutes. I saw what looked like a waiter standing outside yelling at someone on his cell in a foriegn language and smoking a cigarette when I left.....I can only hope that Holiday Inn comes along sooner than later, the staff seems oblivious when you ask them about this, maybe it means they will be put out of work. It was not too hard to find and we were able to check in early. It was disappointing that the bar and restaurant wasn't open at 5pm on a Saturday afternoon, but I was told the key got misplaced that day. Check in girl was awesome! Check out person needs some personality! Never asked how our stay was. That number bed is a joke, felt the same no matter what number it was on. No blanket on bed, if I slept with just the sheet it was too cold, if I put the heavy comforter on it was too hot! Drapes didn't close all the way so sunlight came in the morning! I checked in after midnight. The clerk on the desk was rude. He refused to get a roll away cot, claiming that it was against State of CT law. Additionaly, there questionable stains on the desk and bed. The clerk refused to come and see them. "Much better than anticipated"
Lots of negative reviews, more for service than anything else since the remodel, made me hope for the best but expect the worst. The hotel was excellent and the service was fast and without drama. We were there for a 2pm wedding and I called in the morning to see if we could check in early (3pm checkin) and they said absolutely, come on down. We arrived […] at 1pm, checked in within minutes, went up stairs, got ready for the wedding and left. The room was nice, granite in the bathroom and what appeared to be a new sleep number king size bed. The reception was at the Mystic Marriot and the rooms over there were much smaller in both width and length, and we saved over $100 on the one night stay even after figuring in the $20 cab ride. "Wuill be better with renovations"
This hotel is rather dated but is about to become a Holiday Inn. We were able to get a great price- hope that doesn't change with the renovation. We liked the Sleep Number bed and the amenities were adequate. Staff was outstanding- we asked to relocate away from the ice machine which was quickly remedied. Easy on/off the highway and only about 20 minutes […] from the casinos. Free coffee in lobby but the breakfast appeared to be sorely lacking so we opted for a restaurant on nearby Bank St. w/an outside deck w/lovely water views. 더 보기

As a last resort for a hotel during a state-wide power outage, we decided to drive 50 miles out of the way to stay at the only hotel that had availability, the New London Plaza hotel. The room looked ok from far away and pics, until you focus on the bed, bathroom, and seating areas. The sheets had urine and blood stains from the previous guests, how […] disgusting. I would think that sheets, at the very least, should be changed between guests. I requested clean sheets and they delivered one flat sheet, thanks! Bathroom tub was completely clogged, it took at least an hour between showers to fully drain. Chairs had white stains all over, it was really uncomfortalbe and under other circumstances, we would have left immediately. When i brought this to the clerk's attention during check-out, his response was "oh sorry about that, you already paid so you should be all set" What?!?! I just paid to lay in someone else's funk! "New London Plaza - Will never return here."
Had a mix-up with our reservation and accidentally had two different rooms when we got there and only needed one. My friends and I calmly and extremely nicely asked the two men at the front desk to help. Unfortunately, they were the opposite of helpful - they wanted nothing to do with us and made that very clear. I was told that because we got there […] before 4pm,we would not be charged. Then, 5 minutes later, my friend overheard him telling the other man at the front desk that he was going to charge me without me knowing. I've never been treated so terribly by someone whose JOB is customer service. I was literally cut off mid-sentence by one of the hotel front desk managers, when he told me that "THERE'S NOTHING I CAN DO TO HELP YOU, THIS IS NOT MY PROBLEM." I am 22 years old, and the two men talked to me like I was an incompetent child (not that this should matter, because regardless of age, no one should be treated the way we were treated.) The hotel was great other than this, and it's a shame that we won't be going back or recommending it because of the completely inconsiderate, rude and demeaning way in which my friends and I were treated. I believe this hotel is being taken over by a larger chain, so this service issue may not be a problem in the near future. 더 보기

After a bad check in experience, it was a nice stay. We arrived 30 minutes before check in, and were told our rooms were not ready and he wasn't sure when they would be ready because he couldn't get in touch with anyone as they did not have a radio that worked. He told me that I could do the paperwork to be set when the room was ready. He handed me […] a piece of paper and told me to sign and inital. I asked him what I was signing.. he said abruptly "That you are here!!" When I looked over the form, it had my correct name, but incorrect address, email, contact # etc. I told him that the info was incorrect and he told me..."Well, that is the only Rooney we have in the system. It's got to be you. It must have happened when you booked on line" He did not want the correct info. He then told me to wait and he'd let me know when our room was ready. My husband took over from here because I was completely turned off. Ironically, there was a new person taking over for the guy that I was dealing with because he needed to go on a break or something...we just know he was going to eat his lunch. The gentleman that my husband spoke to was very helpful and had us in our room within 15 minutes. Still not sure why that couldn't have happened in the first place. The guy I had to speak to, obviously was only interested in his break, not assisting guests. After we checked in and got to our room, other than the tub not draining and standing in ankle deep water after a shower, the stay wasn't bad. We did have brunch in the restaurant the next morning which was very nice and the service was excellent., They were very attentive. Overall, the stay wasn't bad, it was just unfortunate that the hotel has that type of gentleman representing them at a check in. First impressions last a long time.... 더 보기
