this hotel is really good for people who travel and enjoy Chicago. just 1~2 blocks to CTA loop subway and bus stop!! regarding free brakfast, using gym and its locaiton, I guess the price is kind of cheap. Actually it's a lot cheaper than other hotel in the middle of loop which is really near by this hotel. only bad thing is for my case(casual wearings) […] , there is non free laundry service. that's more expensive than self laundry. but it could be good for suit people. I recomman this accomodation to the people who wanna enjoy Chicago with reasonable price. 더 보기

We enjoyed our stay in this hotel that did not feel like an impersonal chain. The price was reasonable. The concierge, who goes by the name "showtime", was very helpful and always cheerful.

Room was comfortable and lobby staff accommodating albeit very informal. Toilet overflowed one night.

Hotel was less than expected. Staff was friendly and got a room upgrade as a ByRequest member. Room lights weren't working and had to make 2 requests to get this fixed (took 8 hours before complete). Room wasn't cleaned very well after each night (bed was made, but there was still dirt on the carpets, and twice the hotel shampoos weren't replaced). […] Overall, for the price, seen much better. Would not return and would not recommended. But the stay itself was decent. Close to Michigan Ave. but there are hotels that are closer and nicer. 더 보기

After leaving McCormick Place each day this was a great low key oasis. Make sure to have "Showtime" the conceirge tell you where to eat etc. He is a great resource. Nice rooms and clients.

The hotel was “OK” but not particularly nice or even interesting. It was about a 15 minute cab ride to McCormick Place- so fairly convenient. There was a restaurant and bar next door which was a little haughty and pricey for the location. The area is up and coming (known as Printers Row) but not too developed yet. There were only a couple of casual […] restaurant/bars within walking distance but not much else. It felt safe to walk at night. The hotel people were friendly but only the doorman was very helpful. There is no bar per se in the hotel but they set up a portable bar in the hotel lobby from 7 to 10 (very weird) The rooms were clean but nothing special. The internet service was free but pretty slow. 더 보기

This centeral located and makes catch the CTA to any where very easy. The satff recommended a resturant and even gave us free desert. Only draw back, no bath tub, but a huge shower. We had a great time and would stay there again!

This hotel was within minutes of everything we wanted to do in Chicago. Very clean and spacious.

The Wyndham Blake was a joy to stay at while in Chicago. The room was stylish, clean and comfortable. I'd like to particularly single out the night manager who was extremely helpful.

We went to visit colleges and to do some sight seeing. It is conveniently located to CTA trains--both elevated and subway. It is close to Union Station.It is close to State St. shopping.The hotel was clean and the staff was cheerful and helpful.With 2 teens the free Wi-fi was important. The room was a little cool,but there were extra blankets.Overall […] it was a good value and we felt safe.Museums were a short cab or bus ride away. The colleges were on the train or CTA routes.We enjoyed our stay. We would stay here again.We drove but had a local friend drive our car to her house. Parking is expensive. 더 보기

Good service. Room was nicely laid out. Too much dust in the air - bad air filters. The comforter had a tear in it and was sewed together - didn't really make me feel comfortable as to the quality or cleanliness of comforter/bed. Cleanliness is weighed very highly by my standards, and I will not be staying at this hotel again.

First timers in Chicago, this place was great. The midnight doorman gave great suggestions for dinner locations and the ladies behind the desk were awesome. They described the subway system to us and saved us a lot of money we would have spent on taxis. The room had a few cracks in the molding and the toilet paper holder was coming out of the wall. […] And we had a great view of the brick wall next door. But overall I would say, great location to the subway, food, and convenience stores. Also wish it had a bathtub instead of just a shower. 더 보기

I enjoyed my stay at Wyndham. It was close to the train lines (maybe a block or 2 away from these 2 lines) and in a nice part of downtown. The price is the only thing that would keep me from going back right away, but if you get a good deal (like I did using Hotels.com) I'd recommend you check it out.

Was close to a bunch of things to do. Definitely would return to this hotel again.

A short walk from the Lasalle "L" stop; this hotel was close to everything! I was visiting my daughter and could walk to her apartment and then we walked just about everywhere. It was a little more than I had intended to pay but well worth it. I highly recommend it.

First of all, the door could be a bit better marked so that you know which is the door to the hotel and which is the door to the restaurant/bar. Other than that, check-in was smooth and my car was whisked away to the very expensive parking area. Having a luggage trolley was a good thing until we got to the floor and discovered that there were 3 steps […] going up to the hall where our room was located. The room itself was very nice. The bed was very comfortable and it was nice to actually be able to open the windows (though closing them was a bit difficult.) The shower area was huge though it did take a long time for the water to heat up. I did have two gripes though. One is that the internet connection was very spotty and slow. I can understand it being slow as most hotel connections are but it kept cutting in and out, which was very bothersome. The other complaint is the HVAC system. The day I visited, the temperature was a bit cool and I decided that as I was planning to get back later in the day, I would set the thermostat to a nice toasty temperature so that I could come back to a warm room. That didn't happen. I could hear the fan running but the room was no warmer when I got back. The fan was still running and the thermostat was still at 75 where I set it but it was just as cool as when I left. Other than needing to use the spare blanket to keep warm overnight, needing to waste so much water while waiting for a warm shower, and having to re-connect to the internet several times during the evening, the Wyndham Blake Hotel was a very nice place to spend a weekend in Chicago. 더 보기

I have nothing but praise for the staff at this hotel. I arrived a few hours before check-in, wet from the rain, just hoping to put my bag somewhere, but the staff at reception took pity on me and let me up to my room without adding an early check-in fee. Every time I left or entered the hotel someone greeted me, and one of the cleaning staff even got […] an elevator for me at one point. They really were great at making me feel welcome. The building itself, though, needs some work. In particular, my bathroom clearly had water damage, mostly because there was no way to vent steam from the shower. So when I went to pull out some toilet paper the first time, the dispenser nearly came out of the wall. I could see it was not the first time; someone had put a patch on the damaged area. The ceiling in the shower was also peeling. Another minus for the design of the bathroom: there was no place to store hand towels near the sink. You had to reach around a partition and grab one from a rack above the toilet. Another quibble about my room was how cold it was. The climate control on the wall was set to an uncomfortable 60 degrees when I walked in--an energy-saving measure--and though I raised it, the room never seemed to get comfortably warm. Still, for the price and the location and the friendly staff, I can put up with a little cold and a TP dispenser that hangs by a screw. Others may feel differently, but if I need to make a quick trip to Chicago again, the Wyndham Blake will be an option. 더 보기

Location was good, staff was great. The "bar" was only open from 5-9pm, which was a bit of a disappointment. Worst pillows I have ever experienced as well. The restaurant is open until 10 am for breakfast, which is a plus. However, 2 of the 3 mornings we tried to eat there it was closed by 9am. Absolutely great stay at the Blake! All of the staff were courteous and attentive. The room was an oasis at the end of a really hard day. I would definitely recommend staying here if you are in the city of Chicago. Good central location to everything in downtown Chicago.

The hotel is in a real neighborhood, close to real neighborhood restaurants/bars/wine store/ bookstore. A delightful break from the usual Michigan Ave hotels. Parking across the street half $ of valet. Can't wait to return.

This was a classy place, can't wait to stay here again. I had little time in the room, out with folks mostly, but it was very nicely arranged and kept, there was free wireless, the staff was very helpful. At this very reasonable price it was quite a find!

Despite the view of a brick wall the stay was great. This hotel is quiet... a little street noise, but not bad. It is only a couple blocks from Van Buren Station, on the Southshore Line and there are el stops a block away. The staff was great. The whole staff at the Blake was out of sight!!!! They were friendly, helpful, and gave first class service. They made our trip start and finish on a high note. Best trip to Chicago ever great place to stay,

Extremely friendly staff. Very welcoming. I feel you get your money's worth, plus some. Room was clean and homely. The area seemed a little ruff but not scary. Will stay there again on my next visit.

We checked in on 02/12/2012 they where nice we got in to the room and it was freezing in the room so we turn the heat to 85 and around 10 we asked the front desk to see if they could do anything about it they sent the door man up to the room to mess with it and he could not do anything and said to ask the front desk to do something the front desk said […] that they could not help us till in the morning and they would bring up more blankets they never did that and about 1:00am in the morning right out side are window (4th Floor) there was a truck loading and men talking loud we found out that they where there loading an unloading laundry we told the front desk about this too at the time it happen and they did not do a thing till 10:00 am the next morning and did not apologize. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone and will not stay there again we where freezing all night and i had 2 kids with me. We did not have a good experience Thank you 더 보기

I usually cheap out on hotels since I am always out doing things. Decided to do something a bit nicer for the lady on a Valentine's weekend. The place was great and so was the staff, especially the doorman Greg 'Showtime'. He hooked us up with coupons and information for nearby attractions and deals. Overall, I would gladly stay again.

My daughter and I stayed for four nights while she was auditoning for BFA programs at the Palmer House (~ 10 minute walk away). The Wyndham, was quieter and much less expensive than the Palmer house. The room was spacious for two people and beds were comfortable. There is restaurant attached to the hotel, but we made more use of the Starbucks across […] the street, the Thai Restaurant a couple doors down and the sandwich shop next door. what a great find - very comfortable, nicely appointed and surprisingly quiet rooms - right across from the new Chicago Public Library - excellent restaurant (Custom House) right downstairs, Starbucks right across the street, near everything in South Loop - highly recommended!

Outstanding otel and staff. I would stay there again

I recently stayed one night at the Wyndham Blake. It had its good points and poor points: Good: For people needing to visit the nearby immigration services building, it's a great location, and they stored our bags after checking out until we'd returned from that government building. There are plenty of casual restaurants, a few more formal ones, within […] walking distance, especially in warmer weather. The chicago art museum is a 12 minute walk. Bed was very comfortable - firm, but not too firm. Service was fine. Bad: Hotel definitely shows signs of age and so-so maintenance : bathroom door had peeling paint, there was dust on the windows and behind the bed, cracks in the crown molding, etc. Traffic was a little loud during rush hour times, starting at 7:30am. I suspect that's because my window wasn't sealed properly - I felt a small draft, and I think that's how the traffic noise was entering. Also, the maids were loudly talking and laughing for 15 minutes outside my room (which was located near the elevators) at 8am. Overall, the location was great for this visit, and I slept well (until noise from the traffic and maids started to wake me up), so I can't say to avoid this place. However, unless I specifically wanted to stay in this area of the city, I wouldn't stay here again. 더 보기
