Detroit Riverside Hotel - 디트로이트

The air was not working. The room was 100 degrees. Could not sleep at all.

hotels airconditioning was broken and the hotel was extremely hot. they canceled our next nights stay and completely refunded our money. It is a neat hotel and great location if the air conditioner would have worked.

This hotel looks beautiful on the inside but when it can to services it was almost non existant. We could barely get some one to bring us things; Our room was never cleaned; They did not have air conditioning in the hotel; and we found out that the employees had not been paid in three months! No television in many rooms. Some rooms electricity would go out. No maintenance or management available for help. Cockroaches in some rooms. Jacuzzi and pool were not in good condition.

Hotels.com provided a GREAT price for this joint. It's in a good location, but evidently has seen better days. It was more than adequate but not well maintained.

Didn't realize this hotel was in foreclosure when I reserved it. There was only one valet, a mandatory $20 parking fee, which is ridiculous. The hotel was muggy and had a strange odor to it. There was only one person at the desk, and he was in a sweatsuit/workout outfit. Room was okay, very small bathroom, windows were extremely dirty. Check in was fine, just dont show up until after 5pm...the first room we were assigned too had a/c problems. We were then moved to a different room which was conditioned. There are ice machines on every other floor and not every one of them worked. Dont count on swimming in the pool or unfilled hot tub. Fitness center looked nice though. This was the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. The A/C did not work for the entire two weeks that I was there. The hotel staff did not work part of the time. I had no clean sheets and the trash in the room was not taken out. I called the front desk to complain but no one answered. The elevators are nasty and do not always work properly. Do not just […] take my word for it. Check local tv station websites like NBC Detroit for recent stories on how awful the hotel is. This "hotel" should definitely be removed from the website as I would not want my worst enemy staying there. 더 보기

I think the location of the hotel is excellent. The room was clean and the view was also very nice. However the hotel needs some renovation especially the elevators. Also, they need to improve their service. I think it was a little over priced.

This place is an absolute dump! No air conditioning, in downtown Detroit - not a good option. Wallpaper was put up over black mold! If it would not have been so late when we arrived we never would have stayed! I would honestly say you should not sell this hotel thru Hotels.com I will be really leary in my selections. 1st room had no A/C, had dirty floor in bath room, and urine on toilet seat. Changed rooms to a clean room with A/C but when we turned on the TV the screen was damaged resulting in no visible picture. Location is great but 2 blocks north there is a very nice place i wish we had selected and it was $30 cheaper and included breakfast.

The other reviews are spot on. We booked this room to go to Joe Louis Arena to watch the Pens win the CUP!!! Let's Go Pens!! We stayed there two weeks in a row. The rooms are great, once you get checked in, which was a pain. We got there at 2:30 PM for a 3 PM check-in. Well, there was no need to get there early. Apparently there is some miscommunication […] about what time check-in is. The cleaning staff (on this day, thought check-in was 4 PM) did not have the rooms ready and it took a full two hours for them to do so. I was ready to ask for clean sheets and a vacuum. So once you get to the room they are great, but it takes a while. If you are in no hurry, its a great place, but don't book if you have definite plans. 더 보기

it is in a convenient location (I was there for Game 5 of the Stanley Cup Playoffs) BUT there is NO SIGNAGE! if you don't have a picture of the hotel or know what the building is supposed to look like - you won't find it! Once we located the building and started the check-in we were told there was a wait (i got there at approx 3:40 - check-in starts […] at 3 and there were no rooms ready)- its also $20 for parking The bar did comp us a round of drinks for our trouble but we still waited an hour and a half for our room to be ready.. ate dinner at the hotel food was good and about the same prices you'll pay at any hotel restaurant. The room i thought was pretty nice except the windows were very dirty That evening at the bar they had the SLOWEST bartender But overall the room was nice.. service with staff was slow but the location in proximity to where i was going was good even though very hard to locate 더 보기

The rooms were very nice and comfortable. Our only complaint was that when we arrived the rooms were not clean yet at 3:30PM and my group and many other groups had to wait an hour and a half to 2 hours for our rooms. May just be a one time thing for that day. Otherwise hotel was very nice inside and staff was friendly.

Hotel was in a great location. Waited 2.5 hours to check in due to lack of front desk staff, and insufficent supply of clean rooms (at 8pm.) Room was recently renovated and in great shape. However, no air conditioning was available. As such the temperature ranged from 79 to 85 degrees during my stay at the end of May. The central air conditoner was broken the full 5 days that I stayed in this hotel. Multiple elevators were missing buttons, were dirty, and at one point all elevators were out of service for a quarter of a day. This place had 20+ floors. The cleaning staff only stopped by one time per day, but it was only between 7-9AM. They never tried to restock […] or clean our room outside of the hours we were trying to sleep. We had to fetch toilet paper and towels on multiple occasions during this trip, since there were four of us in a room. The staff was courteous (they even warned me upon check-in about the problems they had in case I wanted to cancel the reservation), the lobby was nice, the rooms were decent when we first checked in, and the hotel was in a good location considering I needed a place right next to Hart Plaza in Downtown Detroit. I understand things happen, and I might have caught them at the wrong time... the place had potential, but all things considered I feel like I was charged at least double for the service I was receiving. 더 보기

The Riverside Hotel has a good location in downtown Detroit, if you are going to Detroit for the Movement is perfect because it's only a few blocks away from Hart Plaza. The only thing that bothered me is that they didn't go clean my room two days and the elevator didn't work and I had to walk 20 floors

The hotel itself was beautiful and the rooms were clean with comfy beds and flat screen TVs. The staff was also nice. However, there were a lot of problems with our stay. We stayed over Memorial weekend for the electronic music festival, so the hotel was packed. The owners must have thought they wouldn't be able to afford the utilities used by all […] these people, so they cut a bunch of the amenities. We stayed Saturday through Monday, and the AC was conveniently "broken until Tuesday." Other people staying at the hotel said they'd stayed there in previous years and that the AC always happened to "break" on Memorial weekend. We got the front desk to unscrew one teeny tiny window, but our room was still hot the entire weekend. Also, the jacuzzi was drained of its water, the ice machine produced no ice, and only one of the four elevators was in service. We had to get by on two towels between four people the whole weekend because there was no cleaning staff. There was supposed to be breakfast available at the restaurant, but the food supposedly never showed up. We found out near the end of our stay that the staff was actually on strike because of back wages not paid by the owners. The owners also owed the valet people $90,000. Apparently the weekend we were there the staff was down from 60 to 10 people, who were being bribed to come in with cash up front. So it wasn't the staff's fault, but entirely the owner's fault. I WOULD recommend the hotel based on how nice it was. The pool was run down and small but the rest of the hotel was beautiful and very clean. I think that if you stayed there on a quiet day when few people were there, you would perhaps be able to have the amenities. However, I do not recommend staying there during a holiday or event. 더 보기
