I had a very good stay here. The hotel is very posh and classy and I got the room for a great price!

The most important thing to me is cleanliness & whether the bed is comfortable. The room was small but perfectly clean. The king bed was extremely firm & comfortable. Both my husband and I slept extremely well which is not always the case in hotels;

Very pleasant stay at On the Ave hotel. Two blocks from the closest subway station. Good variety of restaurants in Amsterdam Avenue.

There was a great deal of construction outside of the hotel that I was not warned about before booking my stay. When I arrived, I asked for a room with a tub only to be placed in a street side room where there was drilling directly across. When I asked to be relocated, they promptly did so but they only had one room left. I would have been very upset […] if they were not able to move me. On another note, the bed was very uncomfortable. It was very hard and no amount of pillows could help. The room temperature was also hard to regulate. The staff were all really nice and it is a great location. 더 보기

Perfect in every way! We were pleased with the decor and the room. Staff was very helpful. Only a couple blocks to central park and subway. Surprisingly quiet too! We will definitely stay here again next time we go to NYC!

a real sleeper

Great location on the Upper West Side. Convenient to subway, both parks (Central and Riverside) and lots of options for restaurants or grocery stores (great that there are mini-fridges in the rooms). First room claustrophobically small, they were very nice to then move us. Next room had no hot water initially, then no water out of the shower head at all. My son had to go to sleep so we made the best of it.

Hotel had very good service, room is small but thats not unusual for NYC. Only complaint I have is the room wasnt to clean. Found garbage in the bathroom from the prior guest.

Smaller room (2 double beds) but great service and a wonderful hotel.

the rooms were smaller than expected, drafty. The locatioin was concentient but not recommended for family

If excellence in service and convenient location are important, then OTA is for you. The desk staff and doormen were excellent and the location is walking distance to just about everything the Upper West Side has to offer.

Reaaly like the hotel and staff is very friendly Convenient location

All I wanted was a wake up call,I went to the desk in person the night before they said no problem.Did not get a call instead was an hour late for my appt. the next day.He told me that I said I had a personal alarm,whatever that means......

Very clean, modern hotel with an above-average friendly staff. Nice gym. Quiet. Coffee & tea bar in lobby during morning hours. Close to Central Park & Natural History Museum, and a short subway ride from everything else. I booked this for my parents and it was just what I wanted for them. Stylish, modern, and in a great neighborhood.

The hotel is only 2 blocks from subway in a very nice area with wonderful diners and markets within walking distance. There is a beautiful terrace with outdoor sofas and chairs overlooking the city on the 16th floor. We bought desserts from the market and had dessert on the terrace every night. The rooms are good size for NYC, Beautiful bathrooms.

My husband and I had no choice but to to check out of this hotel after the first night of our honeymoon. We were given a lovely room on the second floor and were very happy with the comfort and decor of the hotel. Unfortunately we were woken up in the wee hours of the morning by construction workers working and walking around on the scaffolding directly […] outside our window. It was the worst hotel experience of my life. I would have appreciated some prior notification from the hotel staff about the construction. At the very least, I should have been offered a room that did not directly face the construction. 더 보기

I enjoyed this place. It is in a nice part of town. The best restaurant nearby is Nice Matin...so good...French. During a meeitng in my small room, mu business partner needed something to eat and drink, so the Pringles ($9.00) and the liter of water ($10.00) seem a bit rich, and there is no beer. This is the first time that I stayed at a hotel in New York City. It’s located at a very convenience location, walk distance to the American Museum of Nature History, the Central Park and subway stations. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable, though it was a room, and furniture and wall paper were old. The bathroom was in a reasonable size, […] but the towels were old and lost of their original white color. This is a four star hotel, I expected they would have some kind of information for the tourists , shopping and restaurants in the NCY available in the guest rooms, just like the hotels in other big cities in the US. I was disappointed to find out that there wasn’t any in the room where I stayed. There was construction works going on cross the street started from 7 am in the morning and you would definitely hear the noise if your room window faces that side. 더 보기

Overall a nice hotel. Standard room is a bit small but good for an overnight stay.

The GOOD: Nice looking lobby, rooms are very tight (kinda expect that in NYC) but clean. The BAD: Just started construction of new building across the street (7am-7pm... jack hammering, concrete trucks, etc.) so if your a late sleeper, try to get rooms facing uptown.... we were on 8th floor facing downtown and it was LOUD!

Modern, clean & close to everything I needed. Perfect little getaway & I can't wait to plan my next visit.

I have stayed here with family and co-workers. Everyone is happy, and so am I! Atmosphere, convenience, staff, and consistently so! Great!

The rooms were small, but otherwise the hotel was nice. They put us on the street side and at 8 am every morning (6 am our time) there was loud construction noise. My only other complaint is that most of the time I went on a coffee run it was empty. It was nice to have coffee service, but it seemed like no one wanted to take resonsibility. I was disappointed with the price of the hotel and how it was reflected in the overall cleanliness of the room. There were hairs in the bathroom and the carpet was dirty and stained throughout the room. Many of the corners appeared as if they were not vacuumed. It was very upsetting. For the price I expected to stay in a room that was at the very least […] tidy and well-kept. Otherwise the neighborhood and location were perfect. It is a short walk to Central Park and there are many good restaurants to try around the hotel. The subway is also either two blocks or five blocks away depending on which line you want to take. We were always greeted with a smile by the staff when we returned to the lobby from a walk. The staff was professional and very helpful whenever we had a question or concern. 더 보기

Great being btwn Fairway and Zabars, too!

Recently stayed at OTA for a quick in and out business trip. The location was perfect, the weather happened to be fantastic, and the accomodations were very nice. Guys out front were really helpful in assisting me in finding a place to walk to for dinner and getting cabs. The hotel is in a great spot and is generally good - clean, comfortable, great terrace available for guest use, and nice workout room. The not so great points: room was too hot and thermostat didn't seem to help the situation, the elevators are slow on a busy weekend, and there's not even a bar at which to meet people. I was in New York for the weekend and this was a great spot to stay. Close to everything and a mellow neighborhood to return to at the end of the evening. The staff were exceptional. Our room was just fine, small but stylish. I will definitely stay here on my next visit.

Great location, clean linens, even small rooms still nice and confortable, nice and helpful staff. I will recomended eventhout maintenance is not that well. In our room several tiles were loose and dangerus at the bathroom.

So I know that NYC is known for the matchbox size of its rooms, however, with only two carry-ons in tow, my GF and I were forced to hurl ourselves over the bed to traverse the room, as all of the available floor space was taken up by our suitcases. The hotel, itself, is very nice. We were complimentarily upgraded to a king suite upon arrival, which […] makes me shudder at the thought of how small the twin room used to be. Didn't seem to be too bothered by the noise or construction that other commenters have seemed bothered by. Our biggest complaint was that the mattress was ROCK hard. I slept through it just fine, but my GF has some serious back problems, and so we ended up pulling the matress cover off of my side of the bed and doubling it on hers; she said even that was pushing it. I know, I'm a saint. Everything else: Great location, easy walk to central park, and the Natural History musuem, lots of great food surrounding. We had a wonderful time. There is a fire station and also a new building construction zone directly across 77th street from this hotel. On weekdays the jack-hammering begins promptly at 7:15am. I am sure some rooms are affected more than others because there are some that face Broadway and others that face the inside of the block (i.e. no- view) Unfortunately ours was on the […] 77th street side and even on a high floor it seemed like the sounds were right outside our window. Other than that, we found the room to be clean, though tiny. The housekeeping staff was very friendly -- they even left some earplugs for us. This area is convenient to local restaurants, AMNH and Central park, and an easy taxi or subway ride to the theatre district. 더 보기

I have stayed at On the Ave several times, and each time I return I'm pleasantly surprised with the standard of service, and the friendly staff. They really go out of their way to accommodate guests! The UWS is my favorite neighborhood ( I lived there for 10yrs) and I enjoy seeing all the old favorites, and new spots that are showing up

The hotel was booked at the last minute for a weekend trip to nyc- once we got there we were greeted by friendly staff inside and reception desk especially (Ramona) maybe the friendliest customer service person ever in NYC! The room was comfortable and standard sized for a ny upper 70's location- good locale and easy to get to everything- watch out […] for parking (53.00 for suv) and on street you will get ticket - overall hotel was comfortable and would stay there again- great value for location 더 보기

Perfect neighborhood -- away from the hustle and bustle of Times Square and other tourist sites but convenient via subway or walking. Lots of interesting restaurants in the area. Close to Zabars! Have stayed at On the Ave at least a dozen times.
