Good Hotel. $25 for deposit is required for staying. Hard to find. (it cannot be searched in GPS.) the other is very nice!!!!

The hotel location can't be beat for the price. The staff was friendly, but our room was a little dirty (hairs in the sink, cups not dried, dirty tub, no towels, used shampoo bottles) and the tub did not drain.

The staff was overwhelmed, and except for one staff member, who was very polite and professional. he rest of the front desk staff could use some basic customer service training.

Room was large & clean. Free breakfast included scrambled eggs, gravy over biscuits, make-your-own waffles, cereal and yogurt. Right next to freeway, so even though we had the highest room away from the freeway, it was a good thing we needed the air conditioner, or the freeway noise would have been too loud. My wife and I recently stayed 3 days at this hotel and was very please with it. I highly recommend this hotel.

The bathroom still had evidence of the previous people staying when we checked in--I was very disgusted by other people's hairs on the floor. The bed was HORRIBLE. It wasn't soft or plush at all, and it sunk in towards the middle. I kept waking up my boyfriend because I would have rolled into the middle, smothering him. The hotel is close to downtown without the downtown price. But the rooms are very old and in need of renovation. Best thing was the laundry room.

We enjoyed our stay very much, but the rooms smelled kind of old and musty. But the the building doesn't look old at all. But to be so close to downtown, couldn't beat the price! Thank you very much.

This was my second stay at the Homestead Austin. I don't think you can get a better hotel in a better location for the price of the Homestead. It's conveniently locaded blocks away from downtown. I've rarely had to use my car when I've visited. The rooms aren't fancy, but they're a good size and comfy. I don't spend much time in my room when traveling anyway. The staff is friendly and I've never had a problem. They've recently added free wi-fi, which was a nice surprise. They do lack some of the amenities of nicer hotels, but that's how they keep their costs down, so I don't mind. The best part about this hotel is its location. If you like to shout and holler and have noisey parties in your room this is the place for you. If you like to get some sleep in your room then stay elsewhere.

The hotel staff was excellent. Very friendly and helpful. I was disappointed that there was no lobby or seating area for large groups to gather or meet. There was one small guest commons room that was always be used while we were there. There were 9 of us. So gathering in one hotel room was rather cramped. I picked the hotel because I was in Austin to run the marathon. The setting was perfect, dlrectly across from the pre-race expo and an easy walk from the start. The neighborhood is funky, which is fine with me. The price was right. I've recommended it to other runners.

I had read previous reviews and was anxious about how clean the rooms would be...it was clean and front desk was haelpful. The rooms are a nice size and have everything you want to say one day or a week or more. They also had a very nice common area where your friends can gather and watch TV or talk. Free parking. We family reserved 2 rooms with a queen bed; we slept with no problem and on the next morning, we watched the Live-Strong marathon.from our room located at the front of the 3rd floor. I recently stayed at this hotel for 4 nights and have come home with quite a few small 'bites' all over my body. After a visit to the doctor to find out about these marks, I was advised it was from bed bugs. And the only location where I had slept for the days prior was this hotel. So if you choose to stay here, definitely expect to have bed bugs […] attack you. Now I have to disenfect my house, sheets and luggage bag - because it is likely all my clothes have picked up the bugs, and unfortunately, I feel they are in the house. 더 보기

This is my first time to take the time to write a review but had to because I had the most terrible experience with the front desk person. I was new to town looking for an apartment. I told the front desk person this and that I really needed help printing out a document. He was on the phone on a personal call and refused to even make eye contact with […] me. Even the location of the nearest Office Depot (which I found out was only a few minutes away) would have been extremely helpful but he just acted irritated with me. I have been in the hospitality industry for 20 years. Even if you are a limited service facility, some people don't understand what "hospitality" means and shouldn't be in the business. In general I felt that the staff doesn't really appreciate their guests. 더 보기

This is a nice place to stay and is near great downtown activities.

We stayed for 3 nights and was VERY satisfied with both the room and the service (when Nick worked). The room was clean and the little kitchen and the fridge was super to have. The location is in the middle of everything, but in a very calm area. Simple, cheap and great. Thumbs up!

A good spot to stay for a night, close to good eats and just across the river from downtown. Don't forget your own shampoo.

Everything was excellent -- except a Frito in the bed, along with a hair made it possible that the bed had not been remade. Not likely because the sheets were smooth and tight, but these days, you can't take a chance. ...my first night in Austin, as It was too late to move in to my new apartment. The room was large, clean, and comfortable. The staff, both the evening and morning shift, were very friendly and helpful. It's located conveniently within walking distance of the Amtrak station, as well as right across the bridge from downtown. Nice walk from DKR. About 2.5 miles. But, break it up eating lunch or breakfast on the way to the football game, or basketball game at the FEC. Morning guy at the front desk is wonderrful. great bbq rec. and just an overall great guy. We couldn't be happier, and will make it our hotel of choice when we go see the Longhorns.

The Homestead in downtown Austin is clean and comfortable, just a short walk to downtown and the Convention Center. Daily maid service isn't included, but is available for a nominal cost. WiFi is excellent and almost free. A 4.99 fee gets you online for your entire stay. Suite included kitchen and large bathroom with tub along with a comfy sofa. Desk […] staff were great, printing boarding passes and calling cabs for us. There's a great restaurant across the street, and we walked to a good barbeque and took the bus to 6th Street for live music. Good location. 'found many items (bottle caps, paper wrappings, etc) left from prior guest under beds, couch, etc that had not been cleaned. Couch is a pull out but extremely hard - we found it impossible to put it back together. Staff was almost non existent and not especially friendly. BUT what this hotel has going for it is location - behind Threadgills, […] by the Colorado river & Zilker Park, can walk to Sixth St, and other attractions downtown. Refrigerator and microwave help -- no restaurant on premises but with the plethora of restaurants, it probably would not be used. This hotel was very shabby. Carpets are threadbare and this makes them look dirty. No dishwasher or garbage disposal in the room but a huge refrigerator. The staff were absolutely wonderful though and this made the visit tolerable. Hotel smells musty. Shower curtain smelled and mildew on the tile.

Go for it. Not perfect, but very comfortable and convenient and just fine. I walked around town day and night, always safe and easy. Nothing negative worth pointing out. Pleasant.

The hotel looked great from the outside but once you walked in all expectations went downhill. The staff was friendly and i wouldn't have them change that at all. Ceilings were a little low. Called at 1pm to see if we could get earlier check in. Was told that 2pm would be fine. Got there at 3pm and they still didn't have room ready. We didn't get our room until after 5pm. We were never offered any additional discount for this.

The staff is friendly and that is about the only positive thing I can say about the hotel. The rooms were hot, dried gum on the comforter, mold in the bathrooms, and a fire alarm blaring in the middle of the night. Turns out the fire alarm was a false alarm, but I was told while we all waited outside at 3:30 in the morning that this isn't the 1st time […] this happened(occurred a month ago as well). I am thankful to know if there was a real fire we would been alerted, however that on top of all the other negatives will keep me from booking here in the future. 더 보기

They are remodeling now, working hard to improve, it supposed to be done several years ago. Front desk girl was terrible to greet me, she was keep talking with her personal friend. I felt like I was a unwanted guest.

I read the reviews prior to my stay at this hotel and was a bit nervous. But my room was perfect, very clean, quiet, lots of room. There were not any special toiletries so be sure to bring your own shampoo, conditioner ect. The staff was friendly, gave me no problems having late checkout. We took a cab ride down to 6th Street (where all the nightlife […] is) and it was literally 5 min away. So if you are looking to go out on 6th but don't want to pay the steep prices of the hotels closer to 6th, than this is the hotel for you. My next trip to Austin will be staying there again. 더 보기

We were on a company trip and neede 3 rooms for several nights. It's an extended stay hote, not a five star. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The staff was nice. For what we needed and the price we paid compare to the surrounding properties, it was a great deal. In a similar situation will stay there again.
