I enjoyed my few days there, friendly staff, food and rooms nice, nice relaxing time

The hotel seemed nice enough but did not live up to expectations. We stayed at way nicer hotels in Ireland in way smaller towns. Room was fine and clean but nothing special. The included breakfast was the worst of all our stays in Ireland. Good spot if you want to be close to Down town Cork. We had a lovely stay our room was large with a lovely window seat so we could watch the world go by.It was so central close for all our needs, the staff were friendly and helpful. We will be staying in the Gresham when we are in Cork again.

We went to Cork for a brief trip. The City Link bus dropped us off across the street from the hotel. The hotel is located about a 5-10 minute walk down the street from the railroad station, so the location of the hotel on our way in and way out was very convenient. The room and bathroom were small, but we were sightseeing, so a good location with a […] clean, quiet room was all we wanted and that is exactly what we got. The Everyman Theater is less than a block down the street. One of the actors in the play that was playing there rode the lift with us to the lobby and toldu us about his play. We decided to go to the play and were out all day. We did not have time to eat dinner and most places were going to be closed by the time the play finished. The clerk at the reception desk took an order for us before we left for the play and dinner was served shortly after we returned to the hotel. A nice touch and the food was very good. The room was small, but so was the bill. We would stay here again and hope to return to Corcaigh some day. 더 보기

I was so excited to stay here as the pictures and the reviews online looked so great. Not so. While the front desk staff was very nice and helpful, this hotel is more like a glorified Super 8 (for those of you that live out of the US, it's a clean, predictable, low budget, no frills motel chain) than a nice hotel. The room I had had very outdated furnishings […] and an old TV. Come on, really? The pillows were hard as rock. Really horrible. The breakfast was like industrial food, there was no energy or even beauty in the front lobby, the walls were super thin and when people walked own the hall, the room shook. When I told the "duty manager" my frustrations, in a nice way, he listened, but seemed inexperienced at handling such issues and didn't offer any thing to me. Infact, they still asked me to pay my minimal parking fee. Unbelievable. I wasn't looking for any kind of discount or re-imbursement, but the offer of one sure would have been nice. 더 보기

poor wifi signal in room. could not be fixed/improved

Overall the hotel is fine - however, I thought we had booked a 'deluxe' room and if our room was indeed deluxe then I would hate to have been staying in anything less!! Room was small and basic but as we were only staying for one night, it wasn't worth complaining about and the view from our room was dismal. Only stayed one night for business but hotel was nice, clean, free WiFi and a good breakfast. No parking at hotel and it can be hard to find on street parking spaces nearby.

Enjoyable stay, comfortable hotel in good location. Friendly staff. Good breakfast, apart from the hot food which was uncovered and seemed to have been there awhile, coupled with cold plates, was therefore not hot enough.

Loved everything about this hotel.Aamzing!!

Very friendly and helpful staff. Bedroom was clean and neat but very warm. I had to open the windows for comfort. The evening meal I had in the bar, which was not part of the package, was not well presented and tasted bland. I would have expected better.

Pros: 1. Convenient location 2. Common areas of hotel were nice Cons: 1. Room did not match pictures -- not even a little bit. Pictures were *far* nicer. 2. Bed was uncomfortable 3. Room and furnishings were very dated -- unlike the pictures.

I enjoyed my stay. The location was convenient to everything and the staff were great. This is an older hotel with a lot of upgrades. I have already recommended to 2 other colleges going over in a couple days.

T gresham is a great base for a shopping trip to cork city- just a 2 min walk from patrick st.

I would recommend this hotel due to its convenient location, very close to the city and has nice leisure facilities. Unfortunately there was roadworks across the river which we could clearly hear all night long. It was very loud, you could even hear the workers talking to each other. There was an unwillingness of the hotel to offer any apologies as […] the hotel stance was that they were blameless, Cork County Council were carrying out the roadworks and that was that. quality of breakfast was very poor for price charged,hotel looked quite shabby

No real Issues with the hotel except It seemed to be served only by 1 lift , at times the wait was long and lift capacity small so I had to wait on It again,this was evident over the weekend part of my stay but not such an Issue on the Mon & Tue.The room was a bit dated but warm and ok for my other needs.On a positive note the staff where very friendly […] and helpful and I would stay here again no problem. 더 보기

The iron, tea kettle and toilet seat weren't functioning properly. The hotel is older but well maintained. I told them of the problems I had and they were very apologetic. We ate at the met bar and it wasn't good. We aren't picky people but there was just a few things that needed to be improved.

This was a nice hotel for the price. Very close to the main shopping area and bars. Has a pool and spa and other ammenities we didn't get a chance to use but for the money it wasn't bad

Well located with all the usual amenities,but the room was cold, and the staff formal. Not bad for the price, but lacked friendliness and warmth.

Great location but at the cost of comfort. We had a double room but our bed was tiny, as in single bed small. Worst night sleep ever and we were doing the Cork City Marathon that weekend, so totally not ideal. Also we reported an electrical fault in our room at 8am and they didn't even come to check it out for 8 hours, I was fairly fed up by then !

This hotel was better than most that we stayed in. Location, Location, Location, you can walk to most places within the city.

We spent a few days at the Gresham during the week. It's a nice hotel, clean, and comfortable. Not spectacular, but very nice. The best thing though is the location. Just a couple of minutes walk to the main shops of Patrick street. Also, only a few minutes from the bus station, so it's great for trips out to Blarney or Kinsale. On a quieter street in Cork just a 5 minute walk to the main shopping area and Oliver Plunkett street, which is full of pubs and the main spot for nightlife. Ideal location, knowledgeable staff and quite a nice place overall.

A clean hotel, helpful staff. An easy walk from bus station and to town centre. Everyman theatre a couple of doors down. A very convenient location for a few days in Cork. Next time will bring swimming cossie for use of beautiful pool. Rates excellent. Optional breakfast cost too steep. However will certainly stay again.

Absolutely no complaints about our three day stay at the Gresham Metropole. Very conveniently located to city centre. Would definitely stay again!

Generally good, but there is no heating on through the day, which makes it really cold if you get wet in rainy Ireland. Staff did provide portable heating when asked, but I think heating should always be on in hotels in winter!

The night porter was the rudest most ignorant little man we ever met.

The hotel was experiencing some malfunction with the electronic key system and couldn't issue us with a key for the room. We had to rely on a member of staff using a master key to access the room for the first day and a half of our stay. Due to severe weather the water supply was cut off to the hotel. In my oppinion the hotel should have shut down […] as it couldn't supply any washing or toilet facilities. The main point I would make about this is that no information was given to guests to inform them of teh ongoing situation. Small bottles of water were provided for drinking, but this was not sufficient for flushing toilets. At the very least hand sanatising gel and wipes could have been provided by the hotel to ensure some level of hygene. No apology offered on deperture for the inconvienience. The breakfast serving om our first morning was nothing short of shambolic. Understaffed in the dinning room and having to wait to be seated and then having to have our tabled cleared and reset for our sitting and this continued all the time we were at our breakfast sitting with people arriving at the dinning room. A good location for the hotel and the room was adequate and well proportioned. 더 보기

As a returning visitor, I found as usual:- very good comfort, great location and good value. The Metropole is a well established landmark in Cork city.

Everything about this hotel was great! Loved it!

This hotel is very clean and we were welcomed although it was a business like welcome. My biggest problem was that my toilet did not flush well. I reported this to the desk and they said that they sent someone from maintenance. However, when I returned, it was not fixed. I left a note to this effect in the room. I used the main floor guest bathroom […] because I could not use mine. My daughter used the pool and liked it although she did need to borrow a hotel bathing cap. It clearly was an atheletic pool, not one in which to lounge. . The car park is down the street. It is not a problem but we did have to plan for our trips in and out and watch the closing time of the garage. The heart of the city seems to be across the bridge so, is a 15 minute walk. However, the room rates seem to reflect the location. The hotel does have a nice bar/lounge. The breakfast is buffet and standard for the area. We also found a convenience mart with coffee and baked goods across the street. 더 보기

the hotel is fine if all you want is a basic stay, the service however is very good and at the price you cant argue with it, rooms are very small, but you dont come here to stay in your room. breakfast was nice and service again very good.

We had a pleasant stay with this hotel, close to the city centre and a pleasant walk not havig to rely on taxis.

A central, well located hotel. Good value and clean with friendly staff. Great when you need a base for a short city break.

I stayed at the above hotel on Sat 10th july. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was spotless and comfy. Bar food was tasty and keenly priced. Excellent location. Only downside- had to use public car park which is a short walk away, but as it was raining very heavy I got soaked walking back to hotel.
