The hotel was very clean and comfortable and the staff was wonderful. Only problem was with the bathroom. I reported to the front desk that the toilet tank had a broken chain which was obviously broken in the past since it was attached with a paper clip. I expected it to be repaired by the end of that day when I came back for my second night. It however […] broke again AFTER using the facilities and I discovered that someone had simply reattached the paper clip to the chain which was the problem. I went down to Urbana area for a half marathon and stayed at the Best Western in Monticello. The hotel was close enough to campus for me and I really enjoyed my stay. The hotel was clean, staff was very friendly, and I had a great time at the hotel.

This place should be avoided at all costs. Desk staff is really really bad. I had a reservation on hotel.com which they did not honor. Read reviews on Trip Advisor and you will see this has been going on for four years. I have never had a hotel experience like this one. I have no idea how an owner can tolerate substandard staff. My room was never cleaned. […] I can not imagine anyone ever giving this hotel a positive rating. Drive another 40 miles for your own peace of mind and under no condition stay here. I can roll with the punches but this was a series of non stop punches and the staff never once said they were sorry. 더 보기

This place is a mess. They did not honor our hotel.com reservations, gave rooms away and had negative customer service. The rooms do not even all have shower curtains. The manager was unwilling to make things right. Be careful giving them your credit card for ANY reason. A person is better off sleeping in a car. I was in town for the Illinois Marathon weekend 4/29-4/30/2011. All the hotels in Champaign-Urbana were booked, and we found this Best Western in Monticello. It's about a half hour drive away from C-U, and turned out to be an excellent choice, as it was right off the highway and was very quiet, so perfect for relaxing the night before the race and getting […] up at dawn. The staff was friendly and efficient. I can't comment on the cleaning staff's service, as we stayed only one night. However, our room was clean when we got there. I rated it only 4/5 because it wasn't spotless, the window sill and adjacent A/C-heating fan was a little dusty. Yeah, that's nit picking, but I'm saying it was very clean, just not spotless. All of the things that did matter were perfect: bed/linens, bathroom/towels/accessories, etc. The in-room microwave and refrigerator were both spotless, odorless, and in good working condition. The rest of the hotel was maintained pretty well. I rated the overall cleanliness of the hotel 4/5 only because there were some construction materials stored near the back stairwell, which we used more often since that was the closest exit to our car in the parking lot. But the construction materials were actually a good sign, as it shows they were replacing drywall and replacing matresses with new one. This hotel has a nice indoor pool. We did not use it, but I saw that it was clean. The pool hours are nice too: 6am-11pm. The continental breakfast was about as good as you can ask for. They had a nice wafflemaker and just about all you need for a basic breakfast: fruits, cereal and milk, oatmeal, muffins, pastries, OJ, coffee, frozen Hot Pockets and a microwave. Plus it opens at 5am, which was great for marathoners who had to get up and leave the hotel early. The immediate area around the hotel isn't that great, as it's on a frontage road leading to a business/industrial park. We were able to find an open room for this year's Mom's Weekend at U of I, when there were none to be found in Champaign. This may be our new "home away from home" when visiting our son in Champaign. Clean and well kept accomodations and really convenient to get to the southwest side of campus. Only drawback we found was that they were no premium channels […] on the cable tv. Next time we'll have to bring our laptops and watch Netflix on those! 더 보기

The motel is adequate. Expect a minimal breakfast, staff that are friendly but don't understand what is takes to run a quality hotel, random problems like no refrigerator in your room. However, it is one of two motels in Monticello, so your choices are limited. The room was clean and it is convenient to Monticello and Allerton Park.

We came for our son's graduation from U of I. Hotels in Champaign were charging double the rate that you were for Graduation Weekend. I'm so tired of being "ripped off" with the whole college experience. Staying in Monticello was very convenient, only minutes from Champaign, you gave us breakfast and a good nights sleep.
