Great stay. Just a shame that they think children don't drink tea in tthe room. Family room but only two mugs and two glasses. Poor when 4 guests staying. Otherwise a great stay.

A wonderful place to take the kids and amuse them..Swimming pool is great and the Xbox was great fun. Staff are all professional and helpful. Will definately return.

Novotel was a comfortable and clean hotel. We found the bed surprisingly comfortable and the shower / bath areas new and easy to use. The breakfast was delicious and abundant with protein which is a refreshing break from cold meats and cheeses. The staff was top notch. Front desk personnel was most helpful and the wait staff available and quick to offer […] assistance. The only negative for us was the location as the hotel was it was at the opposite end of the old city from the things we were interested in seeing so that meant a long walk to and from our activities so we did get our walk in for the day. This hotel was absolutely first class for value for money. It is very well placed to enable an easy walk into York and to all sights. The staff were exceptionally helpful and made our stay a delight. The original description of the hotel said that car parking was limited. However I would guess that there were over 100 parking spaces, plenty for a hotel […] of its size, especially when considering the hotel's close location to the city centre. I have stayed in may hotels in York over the last 10 years and this is by far the best value and reaches a very high standard. 더 보기

An excellent hotel close to the centre of York offering everything you need for a visit to the area. Breakfast was good and the staff excellent. Just annoyed at the £8.50 parking fee per day; that should have been advised prior to booking so this cost could have been calculated in the cost of the booking and it wasn't made clear that the wi-fi wasn't […] free. We were at a wedding reception at a nearby hotel and theirs was free. Come on Novotel, no good being competitive on the base price and then taking all the extras. Superb experience, hotel in superb location for the centre of York, swimming pool a big bonus and the breakfast was first class. Will definitiely be staying again.

For a 3* hotel it is very nice, the executive room was perfect for what we wanted and it is only a 10 min walk into the centre of York. The only downside we had was the food and drink were really expensive, ridiculously so. They charge £11.50 for a glass of brandy! We didn't eat in the hotel as the prices really did put us off so we had a lovely walk […] into the centre and had a meal at half the price! 더 보기

stayed at this hotel three times in 6 months and we just love it . The staff are all great the food very good the room great and the pool a great place for every one . It is so family friendly . Just a 5 min walk on river bank in to town . We love it .

The room was your standard hotel room. The carpet and bathroom floor looked dirty, which made me uncomfortable. The bed was comfortable enough considering that it was in England. It seems the UK has different standards concerning mattress comfort than the US.

Excellent value for money. Large well equipped room and only a short walk to the centre of the city. I will be staying here again and have already recommended it to friends and work colleagues.

This hotel is about a 10 minute walk to the very centre of York - the walk is lovely along a towpath next to the river Ouse. The service was friendly, the facilities clean, modern and well kept. There was a swimming pool which was great because after dragging our kids around looking at historical things all day, they were delighted to burn off some […] steam in the pool. There's plenty of on site parking, so no need to worry about trying to find parking in town. The breakfasts were great - huge selection of stuff. We didn't eat in the on site restaurant for other meals as it looked pricey. There are restaurants nearby though. It was very reasonably priced given everything you go. Extremely efficient and fast booking in. All staff very polite, room spotless. Breakfast was good. Not far to walk into York, but far enough away from road noise, so very quiet. Would stay again and recommend.

Nice, clean hotel in a good location for a city break in York. Some maintenance works going on updating the hotel but clean and tidy. Good cost saving through Hotels.com for the room we had compared to hotel list price but still a little expensive for the room. Bar and restaurant prices high but I guess thats the norm

After a long day of work we booked a Superior room as a treat. It was really nothing more than a normal, basic room of Travelodge standard with an extra vestibule area on the end which housed the wardrobe. The toilet was in a little cupboard, the door was peeling and the woodchip walls made the room feel very dated. The parking costs £7 extra, and […] a small beer costs £4. If you want a continental breakfast (i.e. cereal and fruit) brought to your room you'll have to pay a whopping £13. For £17, you get a choice of six hot items, and as we're vegetarians there was basically nothing for us on the menu anyway. We passed on this and went to the Co-Op. The reception staff were not particularly interested in us when we arrived... I'm sure it wouldn't have pained them to raise a smile. Really, really disappointed. Next time I'll book into one of the two nearby Travelodges and save myself some money. 더 보기

We only stopped one night, but this hotel was perfect for our sightseeing trip to York. The reception staff were very helpful and pleasant to deal with. The room was fine, with everything you'd expect from a Novotel. The location, right by the river, was relatively quiet given that it was just a short stroll to the city wall and the attractions within. […] This was the best bit - it's only a 10 minute walk to the Jorvik. There never appeared to be a queue for breakfast, even though lots of people were dining. Some parts of the it (such as the grey liquid that passed as tea) could have been better. Wish we'd known about the pool, we would have used that, but plenty seemed to be taking the opportunity for a morning dip. We appreciated being able to leave our car in the hotel car park for two days for a relatively small fee. Overall, this looks like a busy but well run hotel in an excellent location for any trip to York. 더 보기

Excellent value & a good hotel - only minutes outside castle walls at the other end of town from cathedral, backing on to river, close to dual carriageway, and a pleasant enough walk back into town. Rooms were spacious comfortable and clean, Bathroom was lovely and clearly recently decorated, unusual separate toilet that was a bit more basic but still […] clean. Ample car parking, very spacious foyer/bar area and a decent pool for a dip! Didn't try the restaurant (breakfast prices were outrageous!), so found a great wee cafe across from the castle that i can thoroughly recommend. Would use hotel again. 더 보기

We spent 3 times as much on this hotel as the Travel Lodge (which was more or less opposite) - one of the reasons was the Swimming Pool. It looked nice but 3 days going around York the last thing we wanted was a swim! Let that be a lesson to me! We had to wait for a breakfast table too - it was the weekend so I suppose everyone was arriving late for […] it but we were a bit put out that we had to sit in the lobby and wait for our name to be called. But it was a lovely breakfast buffet once we were seated. The staff although obviously busy were very attentive still. The room was nice enough but as I say, not that much better than a Travel lodge! The bed was comfy...the separate toilet room was very odd; while the bathroom (no bath though) was plush and modern the toilet resembled a prison cell and was very claustrophobic. Very strange. All in all it was a nice hotel but I think I would save my money and go to the other mentioned hotel chain to rest my weary head next time I visit York. 더 보기

Very clean and modern, my only complaint is that it is away from the city centre a little bit, and we were on foot, but overall a great stay.

I recently stayed at the Novotel in York, was very pleased with the helpfullness of the staff, and the room was very nice and clean, and the bed was very comfy. The location was great, a 10 min walk into York, we didn't drive the whole time during our stay, as everything was in easy reach.

Hotel was in good location close to all main attractions. Good service from staff. Excellent buffet breakfast. pool was an added bonus. rooms were clean and spacious. only negative was that the room was very warm and turning down the thermostat or even turning it off made no difference. however the windows opened so this was able to cool the room. A beautiful hotel situated only a short distance from local amenities. You find yourself warmly welcomed by staff who are eager to help, encouraging a child friendly environment.

Second stay here this year and again it was all good. Staff are very welcoming & polite. The room was clean & comfortable with a great comfy bed. We had a lovely river view on the third floor although there was a little noise from the lift but no big issue really. The location of the hotel is great with a lovely river walk into town. Great family friendly hotel. Swimming pool small but a good bonus on a rainy day. Also small play area at the rear of the hotel- after a busy day - parents can relax with a drink while the kids burn off even more energy. Went with husband and twin teenage girls. very impressed with hotel room lovely comfortable beds, breakfast was included when we got to hotel which was a bonus and very nice. well situated about 10 mins walk from york centre. mostly families staying no noise will definatley go back

The hotel was further out of town and away from the railway station than I expected. The area really isn't the nicest in York. It is located in a 'close' consisting of council-type flats and we didn't feel particularly safe walking back at night. Once in the hotel, however, I was pleasantly surprised. Very welcoming reception staff and easy check in. […] The room was quite spacious and very clean, although the duvet on the bed looked quite lumpy and could do with replacing. The room had a full size pull-out sofa bed which was surprisingly comfy. The worst thing about the room was the separate toilet with no wash basin. This meant you had to go round to the main bathroom to wash your hands- very odd. The room was quite hot at night and leaving the window open meant there was quite a lot of noise-from both traffic and rowdy groups of people returning from a night out. Other than this, we had a comfortable night's sleep. The breakfast was excellent with a wide choice of cereals, pastries and cooked items, although there was no sign of the vegetarian sausages listed on the menu (We probably could have asked for these but there was plenty of other veggie items). Overall, a good place to stay for 1 night. If I was staying longer in York, would prefer somewhere else nearer to the station. 더 보기

Excellent location for walking access to all the major sites in York, Hotel reception was very helpful with information. Nice to have a pool to use although a little crowded during late afternoon. Family room more than adequate for a couple of nights stay with our seven year old.

Consider parking when you evaluate the hotel's price. The hotel charges 7 pounds for 24h and 3 pounds for a short park. The more you come and go the more you pay. You cannot park in the streets around because they all require a permit. The rooms are not ventilated but heated only. Windows can be opened for fresh air.
