We had a very relaxing time. The hotel was lovely, the view of the racecourse from our room was fab.

ARRIVED AND ROOM WAS VERY DUSTY ,WORK BEING CARRIED OUT IN THE HALLWAY. WE WERE MOVED TO ANOTHER ROOM WHICH WAS MUCH BETTER. THE STAFF HANDELED THE ROOM CHANGE WITH GREAT EASE. A ROOM CHECK SHOULD HAVE BEEN DONE BEFORE WE ARRIVED, AS WE WERE A LATE ARRIVAL IT CAUSED A BIT STRESS AS WE WERE MEETING FAMILY FRIENDS.

All in all we had a lovely week-end in York . The staff was very helpful, I would recommend it. It is however a long walk to the town centre...

situated beside york race track, takes about 30 mins brisk walk into york itself. room was a spacious double with a single bed placed in for my son and even then it didn't feel crowded. cleaner needs to up the ante the table was covered in dust and i must admit i could not resist the temptation to write clean me.......wonder if they have?

Nice hotel with friendly staff. Asked where to go for a nice country pub and girl on desk printed off directions very helpful. Only down side is the water pressure, it took 45 minutes to fill only about half a bath, not so good if you have had a hard day shopping a need to relax in the bath.

Overpriced and old. Definitely not a 4 star. The TV is still a curved screen CRT analogue set. The central heating does not work so they have 2 oil filled heaters in the room. The breakfast buffet area is far too small for the number of guests and gets extremely crowded.

The hotel is located in quiet surroundings but still close to city centre. The Deluxe room was clean, spacious and provided with all basic facilities, i.e. tea/coffee making, hairdryer, internet access, TV, robes. The breakfast was good with a varied choice of food available. Recommended.

Could not fault the staff or the communal areas of the hotel. Pool was great and breakfast was spot on. However, the corridors leading to the bedrooms were shabby and in need of attention. The room itself was good, but the fitted wardrobes were off the runners and my husband had to fixed them or we wouldn't have been able to hang our clothes up! staff helpful pleasant and courteous even at the busiest times .facilities were good and well maintained .food very good .all in all a very pleasant and relaxing stay thanks.

A very enjoyable stay at a busy time of year. Front desk staff very helpful and accommodating.Service staff equally polite and friendly, especially 'Sarah' who made us feel most welcome. This 4 * hotel looked a little jaded in the bedrooms. The TV was quite old and had poor sound. The heating was via hot air fans and did not provide a nice atmosphere. There seemed to be some kind of pump working all night which caused a low level vibration through the bed. The bed itself was very comfortable. We had made the booking on the basis of it being a 'spa', so it didn't really live up to expectations. The breakfast was very good with a wide variety of well prepared food. All the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. With a suitable refurb of facilities this hotel is capable of being excellent as it is handy for the historic centre of York by foot, taxi or bus. 더 보기

Hotel was well maintained, rooms were clean with plenty of space. Hotel was a great location for York racecourse and about 5-10 mins taxi from York. Pool and Spa area looked clean but I didn't use it. Ordered 2 glasses of house wine at the hotel bar which came to £13 which I thought was a rip off! Met our expectations - room very comfortable and clean, staff very polite and helpful. Breakfast delicious as were evening meals. Convenient location with bus stop outside hotel, service good, buses run very frequently so we did not have to use car at all during our stay. The hotel was positioned on the racecourse directly in front of the grandstand.The racing was not on while we were there but this is a great hotel to stay in even when when in the race season. The hotel was about 1.5 miles from the centre of York but its only a 25 min walk or a bus.Also a great pub 5 minutes away. Just returned from a 3 day stay which we really enjoyed. All the staff at the hotel were very friendly and efficient, rooms very comfortable and clean and the food excellent. Good standard of accommodation and service. Food and drinks over priced - money better spent in restaraunt in York itself. Pool and spa popular. Pool small but clean and open from 0600 - 2300hrs. Breakfast good buffet style but hot and fresh. Taxi into York centre costs approx £7, bus cheaper and just across the road from the hotel.

we love the location and the service of the hotel it is so close to town yet out of the centre nice surronding as well hotel does deserve its star rating only thing which isnt the big deal but the tv in the room was really out of date needs to be changed overall we had great time as a family

i stayed for my 50th birthday treat with my daughter and friend we had tictets to see the overtones at the barbican we caught a bus outside that took us to the centre of town .we had a wonderful weekend and the breakfast was just gorgeous i had a greatttttt birthday . thankyou . x

A very pleasant, medium sized hotel with basic spa facilities. We had a twin bedded room so didn't have much spare space but good quality bedlinens etc. Very clean. The breakfast offered was extensive and would suit everybody - great selection of fruit and juices. We booked 3 Grandstand rooms with each having an extra travel cot or single bed for our family. Lizzie at reception made sure we had three rooms together which had ample room for the extra beds. We ate dinner in the restaurant each night and the service could not have been better, the children were given colouring books and pencils and also some toys. […] The food was excelllent, the steaks being particularly good and there was no feeling of being rushed out. The weather was excellent so we made good use of the decking bar and garden, as well as the pool. An excellent weekend all round. 더 보기

Toilet was broken on our arrival. It was looked at straight away but never really worked properly. Apart from this good sized room. Quite comfortable. No in room wifi available which was quite inconvenient

Pleasant service, good food, nice gardens and outlook. Enjoyed using the leisure suite, however the distance from York was a little inconvenient.

Paid for breakfast, but the enormous queue the next morning meant we ended up checking out and eating elsewhere. Apart from that decent enough hotel.

We were there for a night only. The hotel staff was very courteous and we were looked after very well.

Great hotel, loads of things to do in York. Hotel restaurant, food was excellent, with very good service. Will be staying again:-)

An excellent hotel in a very nice area no more than a brisk 15min walk (or 5min bus ride) from the centre of York. Room was good too - quiet, clean and comfortable, and with a very efficient (if slightly noisy) climate control system for use when it gets a little too warm. Bank holiday weekend was perhaps not the best time to be there as the hotel was […] fully booked, with many family groups in attendance. Breakfast was a bit frenetic as the catering is clearly not designed to cope with that many guests - can't remember having to queue for breakfast before! Staff coped admirably though, remaining courteous and efficient throughout. Evening meal was very good too. Overall a very pleasant stay. Although not in the centre of York it is not far away and had the added bonus of free parking (although limited) and a fantastic spa. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay - the Spa was particulary great as was breakfast. Staff in the hotel were extremely friendly and made you feel comfortable. Would not hesitate to recommend.

This hotel was perfect for our short stay in York. We had a family room which had a large double bed & double sofa bed. The hotel is located near the York racecourse and there was a lovely view from the hotel gardens which was equally lovely with a nice decked area with tables & chairs. My only complaint is that I felt it was too far to walk into the […] centre of York but the bus service is regular & stops only a stone throw from the hotel. this was our first time staying at a Marriott and we will certainly book to stay in a Marriot again if the one at York was anything to go by. The staff were freindly and helpful, room clean and comfortable. The gym and pool a little small but was good enough for our needs of one night. A very enjoyable stay, the reception staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was large and well appointed. The location is about a 25 minute walk from the city centre, with a number of good restaurants on the way. I would certainly recomend the Hotel paying a visit to York or the surrounding area.

lovely, comfortable hotel which backs onto the racecourse. 20 minutes walk into city centre. Room was comfy if impersonal but the bed was wonderful and the sheets v good quality.

Completely not the Marriot Standard. Stained carpets, old and dirty. Staff was helpful but badly trained and did not seem to care for guests. Breakfast was limited to English only. Definitely disappointed as a regular Marriot user.

As I am a regular user of Marriott hotels I have come to expect their excellent customer serice. Here was no exception. The staff were most helpful, room service was great and the room itself had a lovely view over the racecourse. For a visit to York this is a great hotel.

Just like to thank all of the staff at the Marriot York, the staff were all pleasant, polite and helpfull. We had been out to York for the day and when we came back to the hotel the staff had left a card and a box of chocolate's in our room, that was so lovely it made my birthday!
