terrible breakfast!!!

Stayed at this hotel early 2011 and enjoyed my stay; therefore decided to stay here again in Dec. Staff is VERY friendly, love the location and plan on staying here again.

it was good, reasonable price!

Fine hotel. Not great, not bad. Clean rooms. Convenient location--only a few miles from Cannery Row and Fisherman's Wharf. Continental breakfast could've been a little better...toast, pastries and cereal, but it helped a little.

Great stay for the right price, room was very clean and very quiet. Close to Cannery Row, and Hwy 68

This older motel was ok for our needs. It was clean and while the floor squeaked really loud, we just slept there. It was very close to our activity.

The price was right but the one of two room had a couple maintenance issues. The heater didn't work and the toilet needed attention. Staff fixed both issues. Clean rooms. A late check out was granted.

You really can't beat the price, and I was a little nervous about "getting what I paid" but honestly, we had a great time. The room was comfortable and convenient to all we wanted to do in Monterey, and the pool was heated and clean!

The staff was rude, and the bathtub/shower was leaky and had mold on the shower curtain. The housekeeping staff kept knocking on our door to clean the room even though we had the Do Not Disturbe sign up. When we complained to the front desk attendant he didn't appoligize, but instead said that the house keeper wanted to go home early so she needed to […] clean the room. In addition, they did not check us in for two nights even though we paid for two nights and at 11:08 they called to remind us that checkout was at 11 A.M. Do not even bother with this place. Horrible! At least the room was somewhat clean, but very out of date and poorly maintained. 더 보기

My family and I enjoyed our stay. It was quiet and our room clean and the management was very helpful. I would recommend this hotel to my friends and family.

Good value for price, clean, good breakfast and pool, staff mostly friendly, short walk to mall and Wholefoods market nearby.

We enjoued our stay. everytning was very nice. It was quiet at night. The location was very convenient. We would definately stay again.

it wasnt dirty, but the bad smell in the room was still intolerable. ok - it was cheap, but the building is a bit lousy and weve been happy to just stay one night there.

it's a simple nice little hotel at the doors of Monterey that is a charming town with a lovely wharf and a very interesting path of history.

We are pretty forgiving when it comes to hotel lodgings. Rustic cabins, youth hostels, Super 8 no problem. This place was intolerable though. Upon check in, we were told that the pipes in the bathroom of our room had just been fixed and the cement was still wet so we couldn't use the bathroom for at least 3 hours after checking in. Unacceptable. So […] they gave us another room (smaller and one less bed) and would not refund the difference. The room we got smelled of ten years of human funk. I got skeeved out just breathing the air in the room. Smelled like a mix of buttocks and curry. The bathroom had blackened, moldy grout and the tub enclosure - one of those cheap home depot fiberglass dealies - was not properly installed. It felt as though there was significant quantity of water trapped beneath the tub and when you stepped into the tub, the tub floor was flexible and you could feel the liquid beneath it moving around as you shifted weight from one leg to the other. The shower curtain was long overdue to be replaced and hung by only two or three rusty clips. In fact, everything in the room was about 10 years overdue to be replaced. The phone, the switch plates on the wall, the curtains, the sliding glass door to the pool deck, EVERYTHING was grimy and had black smears on it. The bedspread was musty. The pedestal fan was fuzzy with dust. The microwave was greasy. The TV only received 6 or 7 channels. The local news channel had no audio. Overall, an appalling, disgusting experience that I wouldn't even expect to endure traveling in the 3rd world! This stretch of Munras Ave has dozens of motels on it. This one looked the shabbiest on the outside. I usually sleep like a log, but I was awake before the sun at like 6AM waiting to get the hell out of the foul air in this room. Woke the family up and forced them to dress and get out. Felt like I needed a shower all day. 더 보기

This is an older hotel. It was very clean. The people were very friendly and helpful. The beds were very comfortable. They had a really nice heated pool and spa that was very relaxing to use after a long day of activities. The location was GREAT, across the street from the Del Monte Shopping Center, close to downtown Monterey, minutes to Fisherman's […] Wharf, Cannery Row and the Monterey Aquarium. Continental Breakfast consisted of cereal, toast, sweet rolls or muffins and hard boiled eggs. They also had tea, coffee, juice and milk. For an inexpensive hotel this was a good place to stay. If you want alot of frills like a more expensive hotel you will not get them here. If you need a place to stay that is clean, good location with pool and spa this would be a good place to stay. 더 보기

The room was nice and clean, the bed was comfortable and the breakfast in the morning was fresh and had variety. Perfect for a one night stay and close to local attractions in Monterey.

Family of 4. My kids and I went to the pool and found it to be a large 10 ft. deep pool, but it was full of leaves and dead moths. The room was old and dingy. 1 light had no light bulb, the bathroom light would not stay on and we never could get the last foot of bath water to empty out of the tub. The staff was extremely nice and pretty efficient. Always a smile! The pillows were super comfy. The room was pretty clean too. It's situated across a mall, movie theater and Whole Foods. It's also conveniently near HWY 1

This was once a nice, comfortable motel in Monterey. It has fallen into disrepair. It hasn't been updated. The rooms are kept clean but wall paper is stained, peeling, tile cracked, sink in bathroom was semi-clogged. You get what you pay for!

I can say only good about this hotel. Great service, helpful staff, nice environment, close to the city centre, clean and spacious rooms. Recommended.

The hotel was nice for the price. The only thing we disliked was the musty odor in the room.

They walked in before check out, and when we called the office to tell them not to be walking in someone STILL opened the door and walked in an hour later. The whole place smelled like Indian food, and would definitely not recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a nice place to stay.

Hi, to be honest i had a doubt about the hotel, you know at that low price what would i could possibly get? BUT! it was more than I could ever think of! everything was set! the bed, the desk, the bathroom , everything was great! and the people in the front desk are amazing, they help me a lot! so to sum up! you should go there!

This hotel really is pretty good quality for the price. The rooms are pleasant and the beds are comfortable. Also, the decor is nice and the television has a normal range of channels. The staff at the front desk is also very helpful. My only quip is that their internet service was down for two days straight and I had important business to attend to […] and was not able to do it because of the internet access. Once the internet was fixed, then the speed was pretty good and the wireless connection quality was excellent, but the internet connection drops out intermittently. 더 보기

an older property with a good location. Management very helpful with any specific requests. Reasonable rates. located about a mile or so from main sights ie fisherman's wharf & historic downtown. about a mile or so from 17 mile drive & little farther to Carmel. About 3 mile from Pebble Beach golf course.

American's Best Inn could be a great inexpensive Inn. It has the bones of a nice Inn, however, the walls, carpet and exterior wood could be replaced and/or painted. Holes in the walls can be filled and security locks should be affixed on each exterior door. The size of the room was very grand as well as the amenities (refrigerator, microwave, coffee […] maker etc.) The beds could use a new down comforter vs. an old polyester dirty looking bed- spread. The beds were comfortable. The continental breakfast was good except no fresh fruit nor whole milk (only fat-free). I would go back to this Inn if they completed the above recommendations. 더 보기

We were looking for an inexpensive weekend in Monterey in a clean hotel and that is exactly what we got. The Americas Best Value Inn on Munras St was perfect for our needs. It is not close enough to any of the usual sites or activities to walk but it was only a 9.00 cab ride from Cannery Row and even closer to Fishermans Wharf. It is also close to the […] freeway. There is a terrific breakfast and lunch place right down the street named Kathy's which we highly recommend as well in easy walking distance. 더 보기

Sadly, this place was a disappointment. When I returned to the motel for the night, there were no parking spaces at all on site except for one on the very busy and questionable street. No elevator and rather funky stairs to the multi-leveled building. Doors slammed against the walls. None of the wall plugs stayed and the light and radio came unplugged […] by just looking at the plug. There was a questionable extension cord with a fan plugged into it. The TV remote was broken and didn't work. The bed was not the most comfortable, and there was a cigarette burn on the edge of the bathtub (even though the place says it is 100% non-smokng. Neither the bathtub nor the bath sink drained without holding the plug out of the way. There was black mold on the shower curtain... the soap was not very "user friendly". The coffee in the room was stale and just plain awful. I hate to make comments like all this about any place, but I just can't ignore it.
