The chair and other upholstered furniture was stained and dirty. The bath linens were stained and smelled unpleasant. There was no clock or coffee maker in the room and the phone didn't work. The overall smell of the room was over "air freshened". The key didn't work the first try and there was no apology and no attempt at service or even a pleasant […] demeanor from the staff. This is a basic hotel, no elevator but it was clean and comfortable at a good price. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I would recommend this hotel for anyone looking for a good place to stay to sleep and shower.

This hotel was just what we needed. We were there for only two nights for a funeral. It was close to everything, clean, comfortable and the staff was nice and helpful.

Can't complain about this hotel. Met all of our needs and then some.

The staff was very nice but the hotel is in poor condition. The rooms are old and not maintained well. The bathroom door had holes drilled in it and would not stay open unless the trash can was put in front of it. The towels were old and worn and everything in the bathroom was peeling. Not a resort or luxury hotel by any means, but well priced and excellent value for the money. The facilities are, as some other reviews noted, long in the tooth and due for an overhaul. Nothing more than cosmetic, though, as far as I could see, and if they refresh the facilities, I'm sure the price will go up quite a bit. Other reviewers commented […] on the smell of smoke here. I'm a smoker, so my judgement may not be what you want. However, the complaint, at least to me, seems overblown. The smoking rooms (which I'm thankful they have) are in a separate section, and I didn't see anyone (including myself) smoking in common areas. If you want a pretty room with pristine amenities (or an elevator to go up just one floor), look elsewhere. If you're looking for a decent, clean, no-nonsense place to sleep, and get work done in the evenings, for a fantastic price, I'd heartily recommend staying here. 더 보기

I stayed at this hotel in the summer, but much has changed since then and my recent stay in January. The rooms are a little more tired and need a thorough cleaning, including washing down the walls, baseboard, etc. The AC/heat unit was dirty and smelled. The blanket and bedspread have holes in it, the type from a burn even though I was in a non-smoking […] room. The door to the room wouldn't lock from the inside and the security latch didn't line up well for full security. While the staff are very helpful and friendly, and the location and price are great, the hotel needs to fix these problems before I'll return again. I'm not asking for a 4-star hotel at 2-star prices, just for basic cleaning and a freshening up of the property. 더 보기

I found the staff to be very helpful in terms of getting directions around town and recommendations for nearby restaurants. A good place to stay if you want a no-frills, comfortable hotel. Convenient to the 10 Loop, numerous eateries, and Target. Animal friendly.

Good for the money. Liked the breakfast. Bed was okay. No elevator. Card keys didn't work right.

When booking this hotel I chose it for the price and because of comments left by others. It is an older building, in need of some work but not run down. It was comfortable and the employees were very friendly.

The price of the hotel was right. The staff was nice and it was ina decent area but the hotel is very runned down due to age and the beds are very very hard. I did not feel like I got a decent nights rest during my entire stay. I will not stay here again.

It was not as I was told when I booked it. They told me that it was a new motel. Far from that. I had a non-smoking room. but just outside my room there must have been smoking allowed because it smelled horrible. This was not worth the money.

well i'm glad that i was able to find a hotel at the last minute on a UGA home game wkend. family emergency not to see the game. definitely needs to be upgraded. the 2 queens were comfortable enough but i don't know where they got the pillows. flat, lumpy, puffy... hard to believe that 3 pillows could be so different. Could hear people walking and running […] upstairs and downstairs. like the hallways were just creaky wood. tiny area to eat breakfast. rooms either needed to be cleaned or painted. i couldn't tell if they were dirty, stained or just old. normal coffee pot and coffee set up, except no sugar, creamer, stir-sticks. i went out and bought some little packs. one thing that wasn't the hotels fault was someone pulling the fire alarm at around 2 a.m. Saturday morning. the mgr would reset and then it'd go off again. if i hadn't already paid for the second night I would have tried to stay someplace else. I booked this hotel because it was the only hotel with rooms available in Athens for the Georgia/Auburn weekend. I t was adequate and clean but a very expensive rate for the quality of the hotel. I was glad to find a hotel that offered a one-night stay (vs. the usual 2-night minimum on game weekends)! It was also nice to be allowed to check-in SUPER-EARLY! The desk clerk also assured us that a late check-out would not be a problem. What an accomodating crew!!!

This hotel is outdated. There is no elevator!!! I didnt know this was even legal these days! We had to carry our luggage to the second floor. Would have been ok if we had not brought so much luggage. Beds were comfy. Rooms were clean, but outdated. Staff was very friendly. Very small area to eat a continental breakfast- we skipped it!

well our room was burining up because the air conditioner didnt work, the staff didn't believe me until i made them come up & prove it! then they switched our room to another room with a broken a.c.unit. then they had no other rooms but a handicap room that they save for their truckers! the room smelled of old man & hookers! it was the worst stay ever […] my fince' hated me for getting the place & i was so upset i wanted to just leave & go hame &forget my trip altogether. not to mention the bed had urine stains all in the sheets & foreign body hairs stuck in the bedding!!! my fiance' was mortified! as was I. every bed in every room we stayed had pee & little black hairs all in it, they finally gave us a last room to stay in that was the cleanest of all. I was sure the beds were clean "look honey" i said. as i pulled back the covers, "huh its clean see" "oh yeah" she exclaimed as she rips back the whole thing & low & behold a huge pee stain right at the footing of the sheets!! wow what an awsome time! thanx, thanks alot for all my grief!! exclusively yours. Friendly staff. Clean and reasonable.

This hotel just a little past due for refurbishing, but you can get a good rate--even for a special event! The staff is friendly and courteous and the place is clean. I'm sure the average revenue per available room is down due to the economy we're in.

Pretty run of the mill as far as hotels go, but everything was kept clean and organized. Breakfast the next morning was quaint but filling. I will return in the future.

I really enjoyed staying here. We were in Athens for a family reunion but didn't want to stay at the host hotel. This place exceeded most other reviews posted. We loved the waffles, danish, cereal, juice and coffee every morning. The only drawback was that we had to ask for a wash cloth one time because we were only left with one. The room was clean, even if the hotel (and furniture) was a bit older. It didn't smell and the bedding was clean and plenty comfortable. We selected this hotel because it was relatively cheap and it met our expectations.

Large number of Americans working there a plus for me. Building is run down and there are some issues but they seem to be trying to take care of the place. Maybe under new management and are playing a game of catchup with the property. Budget travelers its worth a try if the price is right for you.

Not a bad place to stay for the price. If you're just passing through this is the place to be. If you want extras, not so much. The floor in the lobby and hallway needs to be torn up and repaired. I stayed at the Microtel in Athens, GA. Great spot and great price. In the middle of everything in town. Room was great and clean. The staff was fantastic. Friendly staff that were more than helpful. Helped us choose great places to visit, eat, etc. However the bathroom was horrible. Sink and tub drains were very slow. My feet were under water when […] I would take a shower. The bathroom needed to be repainted. The air vent needs to be repaired. After I'd take a shower it would take forever for the steam to clear. My advice, check the bathroom before unpacking. 더 보기

The hotel was reasonable for the price. The mattress was a little soft but the room was reasonably clean. The breakfast was pretty good. They had a waffle maker, cereal (cold/hot), yogurt, and various packaged muffins/cinnamon rolls. They also had coffee avaiable throughout the day. I would stay there again.

very good price through hotels.com. My only complaint is that our room was too close to the front desk (which I partially blame on myself since I could have requested a different room) and the floor was REALLY soft in places and kind of seemed rotten (?). Other than that, it was great... had a fridge and microwave in the room, everything was clean.

This motel has pretty much everything I wanted--big room, microwave, fridge, free breakfast and wi-fi (though the wi-fi connection is spotty). Some parts of the room didn't look as clean as they might, or at least they could use redecorating, but the beds were clean and comfortable. The hotel was in a convenient location - close to other restaurants and shopping, had a free basic breakfast (cereal, bagels, pop tarts, pre-packaged muffins, and a waffle maker) with juice & coffee available each morning, the room were pretty clean, and had a small fridge & microwave. The only negatives were that the hotel seemed a bit old (needs […] a little updating/renovation), the beds weren't comfortable at all, and there isn't an elevator. For us, it wasn't a huge problem, but it would be for someone that is staying on the 2nd floor & is either elderly or in a wheelchair, or has a lot of luggage. This hotel is pretty much a standard Microtel, clean, neat, everything works. Staff was friendly. Breakfast was a little better than most hotel fare. No pool. Quiet, east to get to location. No restaurants within walking distance but many about a 5 minute drive. I've tried other local hotels but I usually stay here when I go to Athens.

Our room in this hotel was very dirty! Would not recommend it. The location was not bad.

difficult to find an hotel at this price in Athens, and the service, room is relly good. No hesitation, book!

I come to Athens often. Normally I have stayed at another hotel. From now on I will stay with Microtel.
