Hot breakfast was fair but not great.

The hotel is indeed a classy place. But the room we were initially given in the new west wing was amazingly small. No counter space in bathroom and barely any extra space to place luggage and spread out. So we requested a larger room in the old tower and were much more comfortable--in spite of the fire alarm sounding twice one night and then again in […] the morning. There should be a chair in the bathroom in order to sit down and use the vanity mirror. Also, the lack of a door on the shower allows water to spray out onto the floor; can't quite figure out the design on that. But overall, we appreciated the bigger space and luxurious bed. I wished the complementary breakfast ran til 10:00 am instead of 9:00 am on weekdays. We stayed for one night and missed the breakfast in the morning because we slept in. Other than that, our stay was fabulous!

Beautiful historic Hotel great convenience right downtown close to shopping and businesses. Very well trained front desk staff. Restaurant food was amazing! Gourmet dinning, exceptional. Room was very nice modern and for a historic downtown hotel, fairly spacious. We enjoyed our stay very much.

The hotel is within walking distance of just about everything downtown Walla Walla has to offer (restaurants, tasting rooms, shopping, etc.). In addition, the hotel itself has an excellent restaurant and bar catering to a wine-centric clientelle. Really, there is no downside to staying here! I will certainly stay here again when in the area.

Great downtown location with lots of activity.

It has it all. Great room, great restaurant, great breakfast (complimentary)

The central location in downtown Walla Walla was great. You're within walking distance of many eateries and wine tasting rooms. The hotel was decent. The service in the lounge was very good. Our bed was to hard which made for a restless noghts sleep.

The hotel is nice and the staff are friendly. There was an apparant change in housekeeing staff for our last 2 nights and our room was not cleaned or resupplied--only the bed was made. I told the desk staff and they were polite, but did not take any apparent action or give us any compensation for this. My only negative comment about the hotel is that […] if they cannot maintain adequate staff to clean rooms, then they should be willing to give a little something to the guests who are not receiving the service they are paying for. 더 보기

Only complaint was our room did not have extra toilet tissue.

Where is the swimming pool? Everything else is fine. I just like to relax in the hot tub and swim a few laps when I arrive to any destination. I would probably choose another hotel in my next stay that includes a swimming pool. everything else is fine.

The Whitman hotel is the best experience we've had in the whole state of Washington for the price. The service and the classic refinement of the hotel is very nurturing.

Enjoyed the stay in this hotel that is consistent with other architecture in historic downtown Walla Walla, WA. We had planned to taste wine, and we could have easily visited more than a half dozen tasting rooms within walking distance. But we decided to shop for antiques instead and found nearly as many interesting shops while walking through beautiful […] Walla Walla. The rooms are similar to any decent 3+-star hotel. Nice, but not extravagant as one might expect from the hype. I have similar comments for the hotel restaurant. Overall, I was pleased with the experience. But I also feel I made the right decision to avoid the significant weekend surcharge the next night and stay in a more modest motel just down the street. It was plain to see the goal of providing luxury conference facilities, but the muzak and overstuffed couches made it feel like they were shooting for a mid-60's demographic. The "amazing" buffet breakfast was good, but not above average. Enjoyed evenings by the fireplace playing cards. Came to go "wine tasting" but also enjoyed seeing the many historical sights nearby. The most impressive part of the trip was the hotel itself and the beautiful furnishings inside. We send a special Thank you to your wonderful, dedicated staff.

We actually stayed there since we were looking at Whitman College but this would be a great romantic getaway or couples weekend. The hotel was BEAUTIFUL and had several tasting rooms right inside.

All the staff gave wonderful friendly service. The tower rooms are very, very nice with good views of the surrounding town. A/C was a bit noisy in the room, however. But overall a wonderful one-night stay.

We were initially skeptical about staying at this hotel as we kept hearing about the "age of the rooms". That information is very inaccurate! We stayed in the "tower" section of the hotel and the rooms were completely refurbished, and extremely comfortable and clean. The lobby, restaurant and bar are very much old world elegance with an abundance of […] wood, crystal chandiliers and rich colors. We are so pleased that we chose this very upscale property. We could walk to a variety of great restaurants and tasting rooms. We will definitely stay at this property on our next vist to Walla Walla! Great historic value for the money. 더 보기

Very small room and bathroom for the money. The location was great.

An older elegant hotel with modern convenience, a must stay for visitors to the wonderful wine town of Walla Walla. Pet friendly, a fabulous breakfast buffet and lots of charm.

Told them I would arrive with my baby early. Came by the hotel and they said they would have a room by noon. Came back at 1, with wine, unloaded baby and wine tried to check in and they said still no room. They said they could not check our bags, they just didn't have room. They told us we could wait, with all the bags in an adjacent room. They promised […] to call or come get us. I took the baby for a walk so he could sleep. They never called, never got us, and we didn't get a room till 3:45. 45 minutes AFTER check-in. The room they gave us was so small we couldn't fit the stroller in without blocking access to the bathroom. I left my dissatisfied comments on a comment-request card and they never followed-up! Lame no matter what, but super lame since we had a baby and let them know we would be early. 더 보기

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our 2 night stay at Marcus Whitman. The renovation of this old hotel is beautiful, the location great and the staff very engaging. We will certainly stay there again.

Despite being one of the higher priced hotels in the area, this one is worth the money. The service was impeccable at all levels (front desk, restaurant, etc) and it was perfectly located within town. The only drawback was that the beds could’ve been more comfortable. Still, highly recommended.

Excellent stay. Clean, quiet room. Check-in was friendly and the front desk staff even recommended a place to get local fruit. We thought the location was easy to find. The rooms were very clean and suitable. Service staff in the Bar weren't very nice. Happy Hour they push large glasses of expensive wine and then cut 3/4 back when happy hour is over. When we asked the person in charge why the glass amounts had been cut back over 3/4 he told the waitress to stop serving us. […] I supposed that perhaps he thought we were drunk, thus insulting us further. We had dinner there and left. Our bill was over 99.00 for drinks and dinner. We didn't mind that the staff was not very friendly as we just wanted to relax and enjoy a quiet dinner for our first night of our trip. However, since we were staying at the Hotel we didn't feel that we needed to worry about having a couple of drinks more that if we were driving limit. We were highly insulted as we were NOT drunk, so we signed the bill and went back to our room. Daily life can be hard enough with insults and having to pay for a room, dinner and drinks and then still being insulted wasn't and surely wouldn't be my choice for accommodation in the future. Of course the management to which I won't name, names said he would adjust $20.00 off our dinner and drinks bill, to which he did. However he did promise to upgrade us on our next visit to a suite room.said that he would sent us an email stating that, to which was over 2 wks ago and we still have not received. If you are in Walla Walla on business or pleasure, this is the best hotel in town for the money; great staff, clean, comfortable rooms and a full breakfast buffet included in the price. Well maintained classic hotel.

We had a great time. The hotel is very close to everything. Only drawback might be in the summer no pool.. Walla Walla can be hot in the summer... Great complimentary breakfasts...

I was disappointed a few times with things I think could've been avoided if they were more careful. It wasn't all bad, there were a lot of things I really liked about the hotel and it had the potential for a 5-star rating, if the issues would've been resolved. Pros: 1. close to a lot of tasting rooms. I was visiting with the purpose to meet winemakers […] and see tasting rooms. The location was great here. 2. The hotel is elegant. The ballrooms and common areas were comfortable and looked fancy. The room itself in the exectuive tower had rich colors, thick curtains, and an awesome tile bathroom with an open shower. 3. The continental breakfast was delicious and I wish I could've eaten more without getting stuffed. The new cook did a great job preparing a variety of food. Cons: 1. The hotel was warm and cozy for it being early March, but on the verge of being too warm. I kept the heat off in my room the entire time I was there and it was still too warm. 2. The alarm clock they had in the room light up the entire room, even when dimmed. After keeping me up the first night, I covered it with an extra towel and used my phone as an alarm instead. 3. Another guest was given keys to my room. I'm not sure if it was good or bad that I was there. Thankfully I was there to keep an eye on the valuables I left in the room (jewelry, laptop, everything I had been working), but I felt violated that a man walked into my room when I was changing. When I confronted the front desk about it, they insisted I was in the wrong room, as if it were my fault. I had been assigned that room the night before. I was given a handful of excuses such as, "he must've been room service", "you didn't have your Do Not Disturb sign on your door" (this happened around 5pm and my Do Not Disturb sign had been out and disappeared with the man), "you shouldn't have been in that room" (where else would I have gone since you assigned that room to me?), etc. When I reported that my "Do Not Disturb" card was missin 더 보기

Despite growing up nearby in neighboring North-Central Idaho, I had done little more than drive through Walla Walla a handful of times on trips to Portland. Still living nearby in Boise, I was curious what kind of amenities we would find in Walla Walla. Knowing its wine industry has taken off in recent years, we were reserved but hopeful. From start […] to finish we were impressed with the overall charm and level of service at the hotel. It reminded me of the nearby Davenport Hotel in Spokane which stands out equally as much in its respective region and can ironically be found right next to the Marcus Whitman on the list of Top 20 hotels in Washington state, an accolade rightfully deserved for both. Staying a week prior to Christmas, the decor was very warm and filled with holiday cheer. The local Gingerbread house competition showcased in the Hotel lobby was very impressive and yet another unexpected charm. The Hotel bar, albeit a bit pricy for the region, has a kind and lovely staff with a good selection of specialty cocktails. The weekend breakfast buffet that we enjoyed with the room, did not have all that large of a selection but was easily atoned for with the phenomenal omelette bar made to your specifications right before your eyes. The location, even in the dead of winter lent itself easily as anything to visiting the countless quality wineries nearby. Even better than that was the surprising amount of tasting rooms, quality restaurants, and shopping opportunities all within walking distance of the hotel both day and night. We are likely making another trip in the spring after how much we enjoyed our last visit and will likely stay and recommend the Marcus Whitman or as locals call it, "The Marc" to those that accompany us. 더 보기

The hotel is a grand old hotel and the service there is excellent. We had an enjoyable evening in the lounge, with the fireplace going, comfortable chairs, and snow falling out the windows. And the margaritas were excellent. The tower rooms have more character and better views, but a room in the west wing is very comfortable too. The hotel is in a great […] central location, easy to walk into town, (two blocks away), yet convenient to get around the surrounding area also. They have an excellent breakfast included with the room, and the staff is very good about giving maps and directions to different attractions around town. The only thing missing is a pool. 더 보기

Very nice small town Hotel, Friendly staff, at check- in I asked for a room higher up, and she moved us to a spacious corner room two floors higher. Very clean room, only problem was a noisy ventilation system outside the window. Large walk-in shower.All the amenities in the room worked fine. Breakfast was included, but was a pretty standard buffet, […] perhaps it was the "healthy" part that made it a bit lackluster. Happy hour at the bar was a treat, (yummy bar menu.) I never saw the newer section of the hotel, we stayed in a Tower King room on the fourth floor. The Marcus Whitman is always my first choice when visiting the wine region of Walla Walla. It's a great facility thats been beautifully restored and maintained.

Breakfast was great. The hotel is one of those old grande dame's that is clearly showing it's age. They even have the wall mounted shampoo and body wash dispencers (just like my college dorm 20 years ago!). In general "late grandmother" would be the general decorating style. Althought breakfast was good, we were waved off by locals on having dinner […] there - - the description was "very good country club food." Staying in Walla Walla, there really is not better location, nor hotel than the Marcus Whitman. Stay in the tower and bring your receipt showing that you paid for the tower, at check-in the front desk did try to give me a room that was not in the tower.

Conveniently located to historic downtown area and restaurants. The room and bath were spacious, and the bed very comfortable. The complimentary buffet breakfasts were excellent.
