Great place to spend a night on your way to the caverns.

Only good thing about this hotel would have to be the lovely young lady working in the evening that checked me in. Very proffessional. Even though I had reserved a smoking room and was initially given a non smoking room...the changes were made promptly with a smile. 3rd floor, no elevator, with two loads of gear to get to my room was OK with me only […] due to her kind gestures. Downhill from there. Desk in room with no available power outlets. Usually in a situation like this I just move the desk. No can do in this room. Furniture too big, room too small. Had to wake up at 3am to drive all day. Coffee maker in room didn't work. A one cup deal that just steamed the coffee packet and produced no coffee. I called the office to ask if coffee could be made a bit early down there for me. Indian lady answered whom I obviously woke up and told me she didn't have access to those types of equipment. (?). My only option given was to go downstairs to get a key to another room and take my chances with a coffee maker in another room. Not happening at 3am when I haven't had my first cup. So I nuked the steamed coffee packet with water in the microwave. Yuck. Not a good way to start the day. Then I go downstairs to check out. Office locked up tight, night buzzer to ring. Indian woman comes out barefoot...again I must have woke her up. Excuse me for being a paying customer and troubling you with my needs. 더 보기

The Super 8 in Carlsbad, NM is absolutely filthy and it needs to be inspected by the health department and condemed. Every surface in the room was sticky, the beds smelled of smoke (in a non-smoking room), and the walls are paper thin. The carpets are threadbare and soiled and the bathroom stained with who knows what. The "free" breakfast consisted […] of stale cereal, day old bagels and bread, and sour milk. When I complained about the milk, the attendant said--"the milk is not bad; you know it's bad when it curdles in the coffee and it's not doing that yet. When it does, I will change the milk." Layout of hotel very hard to negotiate staircases going up and down, certainly with luggage. Shower did not work at all.

They were extremely rude and billed my credit card twice! I had to call twice to get them to refund my money.

On arrival our room was a smoking room. The receptionist reluctantly changed our room to one that didn't smell like smoke but, the furniture like the rest of the hotel looked "beat". This hotel needs renovation soon or a least a serious cleaning. I could write novels about good service and clean facilities, this place didn't have it.

For the price, this hotel was decent. It was comfortable, but was a little older. As always, you definitely get what you pay for. :)

cigarette butts in stairwell when we arrived and still there the next day, after telling front desk. bath towels more like rags.

We stayed during memorial day weekend. It was really hot and it would have been nice to have the pool open but it wasn't. The lobby smelled of urine and during breakfast the juice was watered down and the milk tasted sour. We ended up moving to a hotel with a pool-not sure I'd stay again

Pool was closed! Room needed several repairs. Room very small.

There were several things unpleasant about our experience at the Super 8 in Carlsbad, especially for the price. First, there was a huge mess behind the check-in desk, which did not make for a good welcome. Second, the room had the odor of cheap cleaning products. Third, the toilet in our room kept running, and, when jiggling the handle did not work, […] my husband had to reach into the tank to move the cheap, flexible flapper. Forth, the continental breakfast was the worst I have ever seen. We ended up driving to McDonald's. One other thing that I did not mind, but may annoy others, was the fact that someone was vacuuming at 7:30am on a Sunday. The good things about the Super 8 were that the bed was comfortable and it was close to Carlsbad Caverns. 더 보기

OK location, but staff was not accommodating, rear entrance door which was supposed to be secure and controlled by room key was always open (had to pull it to shut it), room was dirty - carpets, walls, & bathroom. This hotel is very basic but met our needs traveling through. Eat at Dannie BBQ for a great local meal

This is a family owned hotel. There is much work to be done, but they work at it steadily. The owner, David, walked us to our room to make sure everything in the room was OK. It was. There is some peeling paint, but it is a large hotel and it will take a long time to get thru it all. Also, they are working on the inner courtyard, doing landscape work. […] The breakfast was OK - waffles, cold cereal, bagels, sweet rolls. The rate was reasonable. Also fairly conveniently located, between the caverns and the town of Carlsbad; but not really very close to either (or anything else for that matter, except other hotel). I would definitely recommend it.

overall the motel was comfortable and clean as motel's goes.

If you want to have a five star hotel then you will have to drive another 500 miles are there are none in Carlsbad. This Super 8 is a fine place to stay. Mr. Patel the owner has situated the smoking rooms on the top floor so you don't get a waft from an ashtray odor if you are on the 1st and 2nd floor. The beds are new. The pillows are new. The cleaning […] crew consists of 4 people so the job is done fast and complete. Although the breakfast is well done there is a local place just SW of there called "Happy's" that has a full breakfast that is great. This was a business trip that had to be extended from the planned 2 days to 5. I was happy to extend out stay. Mr. Patel has separate routers for each floor so no matter what time of the day, you will have great bandwidth. 더 보기

Clean rooms. Friendly staff. No signs of bedbugs. Very comfortable.

Very nice hotel at a great price. Comfortable bed which was about all I needed as I passed through Carlsbad. The fridge and flat screen tv were an added bonus for me. The coffee and continental breakfast were also much appreciated. Would make a point to stay here again if back in Carlsbad.

The was by far the nicest room we stayed in during out entire trip! Lots of extras in the room which was very nice and also a nice breakfast area and selection of foods. Great stay!

The only thing negative about our recent stay at this Super 8 was the breakfast, which was very limited and they ran out of coffee a couple of days. Otherwise, housekeeping was good, location is convenient and check-in and check-out were speedy.

Why anyone except those who are desperate would stay here is beyond me. This place is next to a busy highway, surrounded by barren fields, yet they have a chain link fence with barbed wire surrounding the perimeter. The entire area reeks with petroleum fumes. Squalid and uninviting. Feels like the Bates Motel in Psycho. We stopped, looked at the place, […] and decided to keep on moving, despite having already paid for this place. Much better places to stay in Roswell, although that is an hour away. Only one reasonable place (Holiday Inn Express) to stay in Carlsbad (possibly, if you don't mind gas fumes), even though it is twice the price. How can such a wonderful natural treasure like the Carlsbad Caverns have no reasonable lodging nearby? Please, National Park Service, build something on your property where people can stay!!! 더 보기

Unfortunately the choices of hotels are few in Carlbad and even worse in Whites City outside the famed Caverns. Between Christmas and New Years is apparently the worse time to see the caverns as even 1 star Motels are extremely over priced. Despite the garbage in the parking lot, we entered a motel that at least had a heated hallway entrance to our […] rooms. It smells of laundry detergent as the laundry "room" is indeed the hall itself, next to the equally loud ice machine. There were no handicap entrances and the 1st floor sunk into the ground a couple of steps, leaving our view out the window to a rock bed and parked car tires and the rest of the lot fenced in above. The decor of mismatched 80s southwestern, pastel flamingos, and techno rugs was at least amusing and extremely clean. The bathroom was very clean with plenty of towels. The staff and owner were very friendly with all smiles. The hot tub is filled with concrete, the breakfast is full of carbs for your hike around the caverns, no fruit, so bring your own. There is a fridge though and a small rack to hang a few clothes on. The big screen TV is awesome if only there were HD channels to watch, otherwise everything looks large and grainy. It's certainly better than staying in Whites City or across the street where we saw some motels that weren't even listed on the web. It's the last motel on the way through Carlsbad to the Caverns, but if you drive 5 minutes you can get to Walmart where there's conditioner. If you have to stay at a one star motel, this is the one, but I really hope you get a better deal. 더 보기

This is an older building so first impression I was honestly a little scared, but once we entered the building it felt much better. The lobby was nicely decorated and clean. The rooms though without a closet was spacious and the beds were comfortable. For a one night stay to sight see it was perfect.

Hotel is fine, in line for waht you'd expect with chain. Price is right, breakfast was OK. Bathroom tub area had filth in crevices of the tub surround, otherwise OK.

The bathrooms needed attention and the towels should be replaced...very old and dingey. Was expecting more from this hotel. The beds were fine without too much outside noise. The continental breakfast was fine and had a couple different options but no fruit. You are certainly paying for what you get & you are getting nothing that you didnt pay for. We simply wanted a place to lay down our heads before heading out to the caverns and that's pretty much what we had. If you think of it as a slightly expensive campground site with readily available showers, toilets, parking & where you dont have to pitch a tent, […] then you'll be very pleased. That's all we wanted, so we were perfectly happy with what we got. If you're wanting a mid-line hotel, you may be somewhat disappointed. I normally find it petty when people give a hotel good ratings and then drop the overall rating because they didnt like the variety of the free continental breakfast. That being said, the Carlsbad Super 8 should just not offer the continental breakfast. There really isnt breakfast to speak of and you'll be better off just eating at the Calloway restaurant. Otherwise, it was fairly clean. No one broke into our car. There was no smell as others mentioned (this part of NM is surrounded by mines, oil wells, & gas wells and it pretty much just smells bad everywhere). We got a decent night's sleep and then went on to bigger and better things. 더 보기

Early in the morning there was a LOT of noise from doors slamming in the hallway.

The room was convenient to Carlsbad Caverns and the downtown area. The room was clean and well equipped. There is a petroleum type odor in the entire area and was noticed a little in the room.

The hotel is located close to the caverns and is easy to access. It delivers what you would expect from the star rating. Personnel were helpful.
