The front desk and outside staff were fantastic. The cleaning staff was rather inconsistent; sometimes they would give us water, sometimes they wouldn't; sometimes they'd replace the glasses and bath items, but other times not. The hotel had very nice amenities in the lobby including citrus water, coffee, rice crispy treats, apples wine and cheese. […] I was there to go to the convention center, so it was a bit of a hike, but the hotel location was near anything you could want: very closer to the headlamp, little italy and the harbor. I wanted to stay at the W given my experience with the Hollywood and Westwood locations. I also wanted a hotel with a pool. No one ever told me the hotel was under renovations. The restaurants and bars were all closed. The pool was also disappointing. The room itself felt small and had a dampness to it. They did lobby construction and it was very loud, and I was not made aware this would occur. This mean no restaurant and no deck! There was no coffee in the rooms. The wireless cost way too much. This was a work related trips so both these issues bothered me. Also there is an ongoing labor dispute and on one occasion people were protesting outside the […] hotel. Everyone was extremely kind and willing to help in any way. The hotel is currently under construction so the gym was not fully available as well as the bar. However the Westin gym was available for use which was very close by. The room was very nice and cozy but I didn't have an available outlet at my computer desk. Lastly internet is $15 a day and is extremely slow! For that price it should run much faster. Unfortunately, our stay was marred by construction of a new "living room". The fitness center was closed; the restaurant was relocated and had a limited menu. The Acura "free ride" was quite bizarre. I really liked this hotel for the comfort, service, cleanliness etc. I was in San diego for some conference and found that the convention center is about half mile away. It is a good walk 15 min or so. There are some fast food places nearby but if you want nice restaurants they are in the gas lamp district wihich is close to the convention center (0.5 […] miles away). When you walk out you notice that the court house, central jail, bail bond people are all close by. However, I did not find anything unsafe because of those. I recommend this hotel. 더 보기

Overall my experience was satisfactory. The hotel staff are prompt and helpful. My room wasn't quite ready but they estimated it would only be a few minutes so I took seat and ten minutes later I had keys to my room. The common areas could use a steam cleaner - stains on carpet and on furniture.

The hotel is not plush, but instead is elegantly luxurious. Everything you need is exactly where you expect it, within arm's reach. I love my own bed, but this is one of the first times I can remember that I've longed for a hotel bed upon returning home from a trip. If you want a comfortable place to stay in San Diego with exceptional customer service, […] this is your place. The hotel's car service is fantastic, but necessary given the hotel's rather poor location relative to major destinations in town (not unsafe by any means, though). I honestly expect a lot more from a W hotel, or hotel of its caliber. While it was conveniently located close to the airport, train station and downtown, I found its thin walls also allowed for all of those joyous sounds to enter the room. The walls between rooms were also paper thin and allowed the rants of drunk guests and patrons (of which there […] were many) to flow freely. The room was generally clean and the Bliss products were lovely. Because of odd work hours, I opted to order room service a few nights and one morning. It was fairly pricey and each time, the food was delivered late, cold and missing something. The hotel internet was non-functioning and was charged at a rate of nearly fifteen dollars for 24 hours. The area around the hotel was sketchy and I was nervous walking w/o company. All-in-all, it was an unacceptable experience for the price. 더 보기

The shower was clogged & I was up to my calf in water while showering. The hotel was surrounded by homeless people which is unfortunate & disturbing, also parking was $35/night.

For the reputation of the W hotel I was unimpressed. It's not a bad hotel, just expect to pay for things that are included in other hotels that charge less a night. Internet is extra for in room use. You can use the free Internet down in the noisy lobby. If you're on vacation and partying it's great, the room walls are thin and you can hear your other […] vacationers party music. This post-modern little gem ("little" as an affectionate term, but also compared to the Hyatts and Hiltons and what-nots near the San Diego Convention center) is very enjoyable and has all the amenities and comforts. The gym is good, the staff is very friendly, and the location is nearly perfect (too bad homeless people are just 50-100 yards away). […] However, it is SAFE. I never had problems with the internet and, upon requesting a room away from the whistling train (thank you, hotels.com reviewers!), I got one! I had breakfast there only once, but it was very good. The W San Diego is a modern hotel that offers some nice features: I liked the wide padded window sill that doubled as a place for a quick nap in the sun. I did not like the immovable glass partition in the shower that allowed water to run from the shower stall itself onto the floor of the bathroom. That would have bothered me less if I had had more […] than one bath mat: one for the shower area to soak up the run-off; one for the sink area to stand on. The color scheme is the rooms is pleasant and bold, which sounds like a contradiction but is not. The lobby / bar area is fine, but it did not need the bass-heavy pounding music, which was not too loud but was just too 'there.' I was first dissapointed with the cost of parking at the hotel, $35/night that was not diclosed promimently on the hotels.com page. Also, why are hotels still charging for internet, $15/day. Stayed here for 2 nights, gorgeous hotel with swanky bar. Was really looking forward to the rooftop bar but it was being redone - hence the 3 stars :( other than this, all good!!

The hotel is located in the downtown area, close to the gaslamp district. At first I wanted to be in the middle of the gaslamp and now I won't stay anywhere else but at the W. The hotel is close to the gaslamp district and complimentary car service can get you to the gaslamp in no time! I stay at Starwood hotels most of the time, and have stayed here a few times. Second time I am there and the carpet is dirty. For a hotel of this class this is not expected. We had a really great stay. They were great with our dog and the room was nice and clean. Great products as far as shampoo and lotion. Close location to the Gaslamp, the Aircraft carrier, Little Italy, all within walking distance, but don't be too surprised that some homeless live around the area when you are walking. Loved everything about this hotel except for the loud, hip-hop and pop music in the lounge. Enough with the Britny Spears remixes. Staff was wonderful and professional. To be part of the W Hotels, this location in San Diego was very disappointing. Although, the restaurant was under construction, and the lobby/lounge is nice but very small, the office manager offered me an upgrate when later I realized that the room assigned had all the characteristics of the room I reneted. Short walk from the Hyatt where the conference we were attending was held. Free Accor car service was great - got a lift down to the conference centre on a few occassions and a lift to the airport when we were leaving. Breakfast menu was great - had a lovely tofu scramble which was a surprise item! We love this hotel and stay every year...we recommend it to all our friends...the staff is superior in service...we were very dissapointed that the roof bar and restaurant were closed and we were not told before booking our stay. We were extremely disappointed with the daily cleaning service. The first morning it looked pretty good, the 2nd morning, you could tell the shower wasn't clean and then next day, we were gone for 9 hours and came back to a room that had not been touched at all by the cleaning service. We stayed for 4 days at corner suit.. Room was bigger and nice but bathroom was not clean. Room cleaning was not doing good job every day. Expected little better.

Upon getting to the room I had to wait for 30 mins to check in. The area was under construction, and "city views" we're blocked by cranes. The room had chipped paint and bed was very uncomfortable. Unlike other upscale hotels I've stayed at, there was no calls or check ins to see how I felted about the room/service! I am big on cleanliness of the room and timing of it being cleaned on a daily basis. My hotel room did not get clean until after 3 pm when I was there, so many times I walked into the room thinking it was going to be made and it was not. The rooms are way too small, which makes the rooms somewhat uncomfortable if you are staying with someone else.

Perfect, is the word I would use to describe my stay at the W-San Diego. My boyfriend and I stayed here for one of our spontaneous getaways that we have every other month, and we just loved it. The staff was very poliet and knowledgable. The location was amazing and convenient. Almost everything was walking distant, and not to mention their free transportation […] around the local areas. The rooms were bigger then expected, since i went not expecting much. It was very clean and modern/hip. I had problems with the W-Silicon Valley and was skeptical about this place, but this W has redeemed its name and won me back. The only issue i had was the parking fee. $35 a day! Just wished it would be free or cheaper for the price we pay for the Hotel alone. Bottom line is we would definitely stay here the next time we come down to San Diego. :) 더 보기

great hotel, the room was amazing, pity about the noisy trains that woke us up every night (Although i think this would be the case in the whole of San Diego) and the expensive wifi. Hotels like this should provide it with the room

The W Hotel in San Diego is a funky property downtown a few blocks from the bay. The staff was amazing. The concierge Michelle was incredibly helpful. The room was clean and spacious. The bar and restaurant staff was friendly. I highly recommend this hotel.
