We have stayed at Farview numerous times and it continues to be a very good place to stay. Rooms could use some updating (our shower stall floor had been cracked and then repaired with dark brown epoxy - not very attractive. But the beds were clean and comfortable and the other parts of the room were fine.

Mesa Verde Park is beautiful but this hotel is not as described. The main building shown is actually the restaurant building and check-in area. The hotel was built in the 60's and looks it. Aside from a beautiful view, the rooms are clean and average and very over-priced. The hotel is convenient and saves the 15 mile entry into the park each day. Convenience […] is the main reason to stay in this hotel as it takes 30-45 minutes to travel from the hotel to the highway plus 10 minutes to Cortez. The location is unbeatable if you are planning to spend a few days at Mesa Verde. The views, both day and night are amazing. The room I stayed in was quite odd though. The bathroom was smaller than some heads on sailboats I've been on! It required some serious contortions to access the shower, as one had to enter the cramped bathroom, straddle the toilet, […] then close the bathroom door to access the shower door. A sliding pocket door, or just relocate the door out past where the sink and closet area would be a far better solution. I'm a fairly athletic guy, and can not imagine how really big people would even be able to get into the bathroom, much less use it. Be aware. No wifi available except near the registration desk (and it is like sucking molasses through a cocktail straw!) and your cell phone will NOT work anywhere within miles of this lodge. 더 보기

I had read various reviews commenting on the lackluster rooms at the Far View Lodge, but realized it's location was unbeatable, so I booked our reservation for one night. True to the reviews, the hotel rooms were nothing to write home about, but were clean and basic. This place is HIGHLY OVERRATED for the price of the rooms. The small buildings are old and the doorlocks were hard to open with real keys and had to be jiggled back and forth to get them open. We felt the small wall heaters could be a hazzard and wonder if they are up to present electrical codes. Would much rather have stayed down in Cortez.

Far View is tired and looks to be 50s construction. Location however can't be beat.

First the picture great, but that's not the the hotel part. The rooms are outdated & small not much room without dodging. Summer would be a bear as not all rooms have air conditioning & only have small desk fan. If this doesn't bother you, you will not have to endure the 20+ miles out of the park & into cortez. Very dirty room. No heat, tv, breakfast. Outrageously priced for the quality.

This hotel is the only in-park accommodation. That makes it very convenient. However, the hotel is old and was not constructed to high standards. You can hear everything through the walls and ceiling. The floors creak. The bath & shower are very small. Try to get a second floor room to minimize the noise. Rooms at Far View were very very dirty. Bugs in the window sills and behind all furniture. Furniture was very old and uncomfortable. Buidings that the rooms are in are very decrepid with gaps around all doors. I understand no TV or internet but no soap or shampoo I do not understand. Place is nice, but the price is too much for this hotel.

Hotel location was great. Rooms were a little tired. Beds were good. The high point of the stay was the meal in the restaurant It was outstanding

Hotel is dated, but the view more than makes up for this minor problem. Highly recommend if staying in the Mesa Verde Park.

It was convenient to be in the lodge even though you still have to drive 15 miles to get there from the entrance and up to 15 extra miles to get to the tour. However ,it was all worth it. THe room was simple but clean and fine overall. There was no air conditioned but the night was cooler than the day and the fan was sufficient. We could have used a […] TV or web access. Also, we arrived around 3PM and there was no warm food around and returned from our tours at 8:30PM and again the warm food restaurant was closed. But we survived the one night with salad and sandwich from the Grab and Go place. 더 보기

This is not an immaculate hotel but at a good location for fantastic view. Enjoy sunrise and sunset.

Good location, but room not as shown on the park website. No air conditioning in hot July. Unbearable heat the first half night, then cool down in early morning.

There needs to be some maintenance and/oro repairs done to the shower facilities. There wwere cracked tiles. Maybe just updating would be an improvement. It is a little rustic but very comfortable and the views are spectacular. Bedrooms are clean.

Ok, so this place is a little out-dated, but if you're going to visit Mesa Verde, this is the only place to be. The town of Cortez has more offerings with more up-to-date amenities, but it's a 45 minute minimum drive, one way, from any of the ruins at Mesa Verde to the nearest hotel outside the park. Conversely, Far View Lodge is located right next […] to the park's Visitor's Center and is only a five to ten minute drive to almost all of the park's preserved ruins. Beyond that, the lodge is situated so that each room features a view out over the Mesa and surrounding canyons. Add to that the great restaurant at the Lodge, and you'll forget that the rooms dont have televisions. But then again, if you're visiting Mesa Verde, you'll soon realize that you don't need a tv there anyway. Nice enough place. Was a nightmare late at night to try to find. It is in the middle of the Mesa Verde National Park, which we didn't realize until we was trying to find the address in the GPS. Didn't take the time to see all of the National Park, it was a long ways between things to see and only 1 way in or out of the Park.

After reading some reviews, I was apprehensive but the hotel was much better than expected. The rooms are arranged in separate strips of rooms and are scattered up a hill above the main building. As we had booked third party we were on the last row so our view of the mesas was a little distant. However, we saw wild horses and rabbits just outside our […] deck so there is plenty to look at. If view is important, book directly and request the units flanking the main building. The furnishings were southwest style and comfortable if a little worn. The ceiling slopes upward and makes the room feel spacious, as does the huge window overlooking the deck.. The vista is endless. Part of the window is louvered for air flow and a fan is provided, however it dropped into the low forties at night and we were very comfortable without air. AC is only available in the "Kiva" grade rooms. Bath and shower are tiny, but there is a large counter and lighted mirror outsisde for the ladies. There is a refrigerator and a long table/desk if you bring your own food. The restaurant, Metate, has huge widows and a lovely view. We chose to eat in the lounge upstairs and ordered off their menu (basically the appetizers on the Metate menu). They also have a wall of windows and outdoor dining as well. We ordered the totilla chip breaded turkey strips with prickly pear jelly sauce, a quesadilla, and the delicious queso fully of corn, black beans, etc with crostini and were very satisfied. The food came from the Metate kitchen and we spent much less. There is a restaurant in the park service building, but the hours are limited and the food is average and served cafeteria style. It is not cheap, but not outrageous. If you want to save money, bring your own food and eat in the room or picnic at many available locations. Once you have made the long drive into the park from any neighboring town you will understand that the onsite location is the best reason to stay here! 더 보기

I was pleased with the location of the lodge but it is very old and the bathroom tiny. The restaurant had delicious food and great service. But for the price I would not stay there again.

The location was the only thing this hotel has going fo it. If I were going again, I would stay in Cortez at a nice hotel for less money, spend hours in the park, and eat at the Hotels restaurant. But not stay in the park. No A/C, no bathtub, no soft drinks sold on the premises except at restuarnat and bar, and the price was too high!

The room was small but adequate. A little surprised that not all the rooms had telephones.

Hotel is at 8500 ft in the middle of the National Park. It is very Spartan but exactly suited for it's purpose. It needs some upgrading but you are there for the convenience of visiting the park and the 150 mile view from the room. The restaurant is outstanding.

Although the address on the website stated Cortez, it's really IN the Mesa Verde park. You first have to pay at the guard gate to get into the park and 15 miles later (on a very nice winding road) was the hotel. The restaurant was a little pricey and the food was ok. There is NO TV in the rooms and no AC. Overall the place itself was average.

You can't beat the price or location of the Far View Inn however the rooms were NOTHING like shown in the photos. It would be wise to updat them. The shower area was grungy and had standing water in it and the room had a musty smell.

The location is perfect. We loved the hotel. The only problem we experienced was the shower. The water pressure was too much. If you were not ready for it the whole floor would be covered with water. And there was not enough hot water. After first 5 minutes say goodbye to hot water. And we are a family of 4. The Far View hotel lives up to its name with outstanding surroundings. Sitting up on the roof bar watching the sunset, with a staff that that is dedicated to enusring you are well treated and having a great time - what a great way to spend the evening. The Far View Lodge is in the perfect location, within minutes of the Pueblo ruins at Mesa Verde. Dinner at the lodge was fabulous. Great views. The hotel room, however, was not pleasant. This place is an old dump. The fact that it had no tv was not a problem for me. What disturbed me was the reason it had no tv is probably because tv wasn't invented the last time this place received an upgrade. At least this is the way it appeared to me and my fellow travelers.

I expected the room to be sparse and it was. But the best part was the balcony on all rooms overlooking a vast distance. It was a perfect quiet setting to read a book (especially since there is no TV). There is fridge, which is nice because the food options are very expensive and extremely limited (although if you like Starbucks, which I don't, they […] have one in the adjacent cafe/gift shop.) Our room had only a stand up shower that was pretty dated, but clean. The towels were better than I expected. The beds were simple doubles. Far View Lodge was the perfect choice for us. The location allowed us to avoid the long drive from Cortez or Durango. We enjoyed sitting on the deck in the evening and easily made it to the early morning cliff tours.

Room was clean but very basic - would benefit from a refurb. Still you don't necessarily stay here for the accommodation as it is in the middle of the Mesa Verde National Park and views/scenery are wonderful. We ate at the on site Metate Room Restaurant - superb. Very good food and service - the prawn with prickly pear sauce was excellent.

The hotel is located on top of Mesa Verde National Park. The name itself of the hotel Far View says it all. You can see as far as the eye can see from the hotel. The sunrise is so beautiful. Far View Lodge was not particularly a terrific hotel, but it was extremely convenient if you were visiting the Mesa Verde Cliff dwellings. Far View is located inside the Mesa Verde National Forest and only minutes away from the visitor center and museum. The only draw back we found was that it is too far into the park to go back out for any variety […] of dining. There were a couple of places to eat within a short distance of the lodge, but the variety of food was very limited and, depending on which restaurant you ate at, very expensive. The rooms were very basic and had no television, computer hook-ups, etc. All in all, you are paying for the convenience of being next to the cliff dwellings and not having to drive into the park for the tours. 더 보기

Rustic motel within the Mesa Verde NP. Great location and great dining room. No refrigerator in room or air conditioning. Bed linens need to be replaced and needs triple sheeting
