good value...the only complaint would be that the AC was very loud, even for a motel. Could walk to beach but it was a long walk.

My 2-doublebed room was cheerfully decorated, clean, and had a decent-sized small fridge for personal use. I loved being able to use the microwave in the breakfast room to reheat leftovers since I can never finish restaurant meals. The breakfast wasn't particularly healthy (no fruit or yogurt) but self-made waffles, bagels and cream cheese, and corn […] flakes/raisin bran and juices, coffee and tea were quite sufficient. The staff was very friendly and they keep the coffee thermoses in the breakfast room full all day. The rear rooms facing the pool and small drainage pond are quieter than street-facing rooms, though the hotel is quite set back from the street. The hotel was very nice for the price the employees were nice and helpful. The only thing I would say bad about it was the channel selection on the tv. Four types of HBO but no Comedy Central? All in all it was a fun trip and a good hotel.

Small clean room. The service was good during our stay but my wife left a phone charger in the room and they wanted 25.00 to mail it back.

Breakfast was very lacking in selection unless you prefer cold cereal and bagels, or wait in line to fix a waffle. I love Carolina Beach, but this hotel not so much.

Stayed for three nights and tried to book a fourth but it was sold out when tried to stay another day. Great location near the beach only a few minute walk we will stay again

The staff was very friendly, but the cleanliness of parking lot it was slack.The Microtel is In a decent location, albeit it is not on the beach, but the price per room was very competitive with surrounding hotels. I like the laid back atmosphere of Carolina Beach and would strongly encourage others to visit and enjoy!

Having read several negative reviews I was a little apprehensive about staying at the Microtel in Carolina Beach. My husband and I were greeted by pleasant staff who offered advice on local restaurants. The room was fine, perhaps a lick of paint would improve its appearance though. Our stay at the hotel in Carolina Beach was very pleasant. It rained most of the time, so we had to find other things to do besides go to the beach and this hotel was close to several sights. I would recommend this hotel to others.

Room was very small and had a stale smell. Bedding was clean. TV was uncomfortable to watch. It was on top of wooden closet. I was not pleased with view (top of hotel roof). The price was too high for non ocean view or ocean front for off season. Internet svc. is dial up and did not work properly.

We enjoyed our winter night at the beach. Microtel was clean and comfortable, with pleasant staff and adequate continental breakfast. We had to change rooms at first, but only because the previous inhabitants had dismantled the smoke detector and lit up in the non-smoking room. My husband Jim, my little girl and I stayed at the Microtel a few days ago. On the first night I was really happy to be there and a bit overexcited so I couldn't sleep! I went to the lobby on the first floor to work on the computer and check on the website for my new company.While doing this the night auditor Jean was awesome. She brought me milk from […] the back to eat with some of the cereal used for the morning breakfast and when I asked her to, she looked over the new web site with me. She is very professional and extremely people oriented at the same time. She made sure our rate was correct as it had been a bit high from booking through a third party. I stayed there until my husband and daughter came to the lobby looking for me and finally I was able to go to sleep. Evert person from front desk clerks, Cassandra, and Mark whom we met, to the folks who brought extra towels and blankets to us and tidied our rooms, Cristy and Joe, to the general manager of the hotel, Bruce, were first rate in terms of Guest Service and kindness. The hotel is extremely clean and welcoming with all amenities one would expect in a far more costly hotel. The only thing missing was a giant flat screen TV. Who needs that anyway. We had a fine color TV with cable and a good selection of channels to choose from. As my 9 year old said, "MOM, you don't come to the beach to watch TV! You go to the Beach!" We enjoyed our stay and will book our reservations here again. I recommend the shoulder seasons such as late fall and early spring. The crowds are far less large, there's room to move, privacy on the beaches without being totally alone and the beach itself feels quieter and more calm. Bruce told us that he had taken over as the new General Manager less than 6 months ago and that he was doing everything in his power to re-build the reputation of the hotel that had apparently not been great under former management. I was really happy with our stay here. The staff was friendly and helpful, the room was clean, and while it wasn't a huge room, it was very comfortable. The bed and pillows were great! Great value for the money...I would definately recommend this hotel.

The hotel was in a good area, very close to the beach, food and about 20 mins from downtown Wilmington. The neighborhood was a cute beach town. Had we booked thru any method rather than Hotels.com where we knew the total cost, I would have been very upset to arrive at the desk and have to agree to pay a dollar per room for the safe in the room whether it was used or not. We were pretty close to the beach, but the room wasn't that clean, the staff was not helpful or kind on the phone, and worst of all the internet only worked in our bathroom. Really good price and as good as any we stayed at at 1 and a half times the price. Friendly staff and a real southern welcome. On holiday from UK and was very pleasantly surprised.

I was really happy with my stay. The room looks exactly like the pictures, with window bench and all. The breakfast lacks alot of options but they do offer waffles which i loved. My biggest issue was the location to the beach, it is about a two block walk.

My best friend and I decided to take a last minute beach getaway trip. The staff at the microtel were friendly and very helpful with recommendations for where to go. The only "issues" we found were that the towels left a lot of lint on our skin and there was no iron or ironing board available in the room. other than these two minimal things we found […] the hotel to be great! The Microtel hotel at Carolina Beach is perfectly price for the type of hotel. The hotel is located on the main strip of carolina beach and surrounding resturants are within walking distance. The staff is very friendly and accomadating to my family. We have a 1 year old boy and needed a crib for the 3 nights we were there.( he's not a co-sleeper) they […] dressed the bed with clean linens and even a baby blanket. I had booked 2 rooms and both were so nasty and when asked manager for other rooms, they were the same... so nasty that we refused to stay aftaid of getting something... they all smelled as though some urinated in the rooms and were not cleaned up. I will NEVER even consider this place again...

We were looking for a clean, affordable night's stay at Carolina Beach and we found it at the Microtel. The room was small (as I expected), but perfectly fine for an overnight stay. Close to the beach, and easy access to other stores, etc. in the area. Overall, a good experience.

For the price the hotel was great....just feels like the people in the rooms next to you are in your room. The walls are very thin.

Everything was good when we checked in. We were told they were laying carpet on the 1st & 2nd floors and that was why we had a room on the 3rd floor, which is ok with me. The next morning by 8am the workers were right outside of my room working on the floor. I was not very happy about that.

My husband and I came here off season. We got married on Valentines day so everything was pretty quiet. We so enjoyed having this hotel to ourselves, don't get me wrong there were others staying here as well but nothing like it will be come summertime. The hotel staff was very friendly and pleasant. The staff are very nice, friendly and helpful. The room was quite pleasant and adequate although the addition of a microwave a hair dryer and a coffee pot would have been welcome. That to me […] is a lack of adequate service. The breakfast is also not appealing. One waffle maker will take forever for just a family of four while others wait or give up. I stayed at another motel en route which was also moderately priced, but had a hot table with sausage, bacon, scrambled eggs and biscuits as well as the usual cold cereals, bagels, etc. Also, although the motel was not full, people were in the room next to me who were extremely noisy and nothing was done about it although I called the desk on one occasion and considered calling 911. I was very pleased overall with our stay. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The staff was excellent, very helpful. The tv was a little small, but for the price, we were more than pleased. The continental breakfast was about the usual. My husband likes a big breakfast, so we went out most mornings. I would definitely stay again.
