This is already my 10th time to this hotel, it is well located with a Amish market just a few meters away and Avis rental a block away. The hotel has been renovated in the rooms since my last visit and was given an upgrade to a one bedroom suite and a balcony (one of only 3 rooms with balcony). THE STAFF ATTENTIVENESS IS UNBEATABLE.. THESE GUYS ARE JUST GREAT BY DOING THEIR JOBS TO MAKE YOU FEEL AT HOME.I HAD AN ISSUE ALL THE WAY WITH AC WHICH IN MY OPINION MAKES THE ROOM VERY HOT AND COULDNT BE FIXED.I HAD TO OPEN THE WINDOWS THOUGH.THE ROOMS ALTHOGH VERY SMALL IS CONFORTABLE. Very helpful, with wheelchair accessibility, baggage assistance, kindness, etc.

The hospitality at this hotel was outstanding. The room was clean, and simple, and for a NYC hotel room, fairly large. However, the view out the window was of the back of another building, and the shower leaked all over the bathroom floor, which required some mopping with the hotel towels. The room was fairly nice, sans the leaky shower, and the hotel […] staff was very helpful and very friendly. The room was clean, and large, but not so updated (i.e., the furniture was falling apart a bit, the shower not so sturdy), and the location not so great. Very poor service I asked twice for a robe to be put in the room but it never turned up although I was promised it would be sent up immediately There were one or two other other annoying things as well

I had two confirmed rooms at the Alex and when i checked in at 6pm at night the rooms were not available and they told me they couldn't give me two rooms and put myself and a business partner into a room that had two bedroom areas. Only 1 bath, no tv in the second room and the whole things smelt of smoke and had cigarette burns in the carpets, etc... […] I asked for and paid for two rooms and expected to get at least the value and accommodations of two rooms. I talked to the manager the next morning on checkout and he looked up and saw that i had two confirmed rooms. he was going to figure out what happened and call me back and of course he never did. I would not stay at this hotel again for either the service issue or the hotel room overall condition. This is not what i would ever consider a 4 star hotel. 더 보기

My name is Alex. The hotel had my name on everything in the room. I was very pleased with how they personalized their service for me.

The location was splendid, and the hotel was nice, but it was not a four star hotel for sure. The rooms needed some maintinence, things where broke (e.g. the shower , the watertaps in the bathroom, lamps..). Also DO NOT eat the breakfast at the hotel!! We had breakfast one morning and the waiter, "Azzis", was the gave the most terribel service ever: […] He was rude to us, he questioned what we ordered (I still ask myself how he had the stomach to advice me what I should do, even not asking), he forgot our order - and when he realized he had missed to give it to the kitchen he was, if possible even more rude. The barpersonell on the evenings where very good and professional, but with the lobby people not even open the door for us when standing right by it and looking at us coming with big shoppingbags and that aweful breakfast experience leads me to advice you to get another hotel unless you get this one really cheap.. 더 보기

We came to the hotel from Grand Central Station and the walk was about 5- 10 minutes. Perfect location. The room was very comfortable. However, certain features of the hotel were strange. The clock is hidden under the top of the bedside table. It was impossible to set the alarm. The sink was elongated (far from the mirror) and so using the mirror to […] shave or put on makeup was difficult. Great Hotel

Friendly service, bathroom small and not much counter space. good for one person stay. great for business travel.

We stayed here over Hurricane Irene weekend and the staff worked extra duty to accommodate us. It was seamless from our perspective. We also got an upgrade before we arrived - from a lower level small dark room with a horrible view to a light filled 2oth floor room with a view of the Chrysler bldg. and a kitchenette. BUT breakfast was not a great experience […] - waiter we had was basically inadequate and the food pretty pricey. Dinner was better, however. 더 보기

Hotel is nice. The lobby is small. The area is safe, but completely dead at night, with only a 24-hour CVS nearby. The service was decent. I tried to check-in a few hours early, and they kept telling me to check after another hour. I ended up calling/coming in 3 times, and then just giving up and going out to dinner. I came back at 5, an hour after […] the official check-in, and my room still wasn't ready, and the desk staff acted very put upon to find a room for me. Very odd. When I first came in, they offered to take my bag while I waited, but then I just stood there for a few minutes holding my bag while the staff ignored me. Very weird. Also requested extra towels and it took an hour for them to arrive. The bellman outside the hotel were really nice though, and helped us get two cabs in the rain. The room was nice, simple modern decor, clean. There was no view (just some machinery on the roof), but it didn't really care. Hotel is worth it if you can get a deal, or if you're staying in one of the long term suites. Not worth the standard rates unless you're a naive tourist. 더 보기

Really loved the hotel and especially the view from the 29th floor! Great hospitality, including the drink reception on the evening that we arrived.

Went to NYC this year and decided to stay at a non chain hotel. This place was great, upgraded our room for no reason when we checked in. Very nice, clean modern room. TV in the bathroom too! Fortunately we got a good rate before staying here. At half price of rack rate it was still over priced. Rooms were old and tired, walls paper thin. You could hear everything going on in the rooms and hallway around us. And why is it in New York, in these high priced hotels, food is so expensive???? It all depends on what you prefer in your hotel. in NY, in this price range, you can get a hotel that had very nice amenities, very high-quality furniture, etc or you can get a little more space. The Alex is normally a little bit out of my price range but this time a special got me in the door. I like the place, the people are nice and the neighborhood […] is decent if you are working in midtown or want to be near Grand Central. The rooms at the base level are small and compact but everything in the room is very high quality. I personally would prefer a little more space and would take the hit on the quality. Our family recently stayed at The Alex and were very pleased with our room. We were upgraded to a 2 bedroom suite upon arrival which was more than a pleasant surprise! The room was clean and very well appointed and the staff were excellent - very polite and helpful. We were very happy with the location and all the amenities so close by - shopping, restaurants […] etc. The beds were very comfortable which was a bonus after so much walking! I enjoyed staying here - the service was very good and the hotel had a nice feel to it. The room was quiet, which was a plus! We had a studio and it was well equipped. The decor is a little old but retro :) A little far to walk to the subway, especially in rain, but there are nice views from the hotel and some cute restaurants close by.

Great location, 3 blocks from Times Square, and 2 blocks from the UN where you can pick up two different tour busses. Wonderful Amish market across the street with the best produce. Staff super helpfull and polite and the room was sooo comfy. Book it and enjoy!!

This was a great hotel that has dramatically declined over the last few years due to poor management and rude union staff. service staff will rudely commandeer an elevator and enter elevator with garbage and overflowing carts without so much as an apology.

We were in town for our wedding anniversary, and we had a great stay! It's in a really great location... shopping nearby, not too far from the Theatre District, and the Palm is right around the corner! Plus a cab ride uptown is short & cheap. The staff was extremely helpful and courteous, and the room was comfortable and nicely furnished. We usually […] stay at one of the W's, but was happy we tried the Alex instead. This was my favorite NYC hotel so far. We would definitely recommend this to others! 더 보기

The hotel is Ok but the room (608) was very small. Also looks like there are some homeless living on the building next door so we could hear all their arguments even with the windows closed. I really expected much more from this hotel.

We recently stayed at the Alex for my wife's birthday and really enjoyed ourselves. The staff was wonderful, and the room was even better. I have stayed in NY before and it has taken 30-40 minutes to get my car but not at the Alex, it was there in a minute. There is no doubt I would stay again.

We were very pleased with the Hotel Alex. Very good service, clean, close to Grand Central. We were in a room by the elevator which made our room much smaller. I was surprised that the noise from the elevator did not keep us up. Very nice. I would stay here again.

Overall GREAT hotel for location and services! Would def stay there again and recommend to all!

I really enjoyed my stay a the Alex hotel and would recommend it my friends. I arrived at the hotel around noon which is before the normal check-in time. But was glad they are able to give me a room regardless. While checking into the hotel I requested for higher floor room just to be away from the city traffic noise and the hotel upgrade me to a suite […] on the upper floor. I was pleasantly suprised when I find a full kitchen in side the room. The animety simple but sufficient. I recommend checking out this hotel next time you stay in NYC. 더 보기

Upon arriving, thge lobby was very clean and neat. The staff at the desk was warm and friendly. Upon check in I noticed a mistake on my reservation. the person at the front desk immediately corrected it and I then went up to my room. The room was clean and neat. Clean room, great staff, very reasonable for location. I would definitely stay this hotel again if i will go to NY.

Our stay at The Alex was wonderful. Its location is fantastic. The facilities were outstanding and the staff friendly and available. Our family is coming to NY in the fall for a wedding. We have recommened The Alex to family members.

Very pleasant staff at the front desk, bar and at the bell station. Helpful, knowledgeable and always keen to please. Room was very spacious and QUIET from the noise outside and I like the in room kitchen and work area. A definate must!! Staff were most accommodating. We were able to check-in earlier as they had a room available, which we really appreciated. Our studio was immaculate with fabulous extras to make our stay more comfortable. Will definately stay there again. One of the best hotels in New York!!

We were given a free upgrade to a studio. Lovely room with great amenities. Very clean and comfortable. Good location.
