This hotel was in very poor condition and the room was very dirty and the beds were horrible. The elevator did not work and it was hard to find. I have stayed at Howard Johnsons before and had a much better experience.

This was the dirtiest room I have ever stayed in. There was old urine dried on the toilet and the floor looked dirty in the bathroom. There was old tissue hanging out of the peep hole and the furniture looked vandelized and misplaced. The room smelled funky and only got worse when the guests next door who were partying all night smoked in their room. […] Front desk was "shocked" but said they were fully booked and couldn't do anything. I think 2 stars is far too generous. The place didnt even have a working elevator. Non-smoking rooms were obviously smoked in. Batteries were removed from the TV controllers (not cool during play-offs). On-going renovations that appear to be the norm. Smells like smoke, people partying all hours....too loud...and no elevator....

The temperature in the room was a little too warm and the thermostat didn't work when we tried to adjust it. The exterior and the lobby was run down, elevator not working so had to climb 3 flights of stairs, but the room was clean and the bed was comfortable.

unpleasant experience with this hotel--- horrible maintenance of the hotel, bad service! the first and the last time to stay in it.

The room was dirty. Empty beer cans under the bed from previous guest. The bath tub was filthy. The hotel housekeeping staff were all "off sick". The phone to call front desk was not plugged in and had no outlet in the room for a phone. A hotel should not advertise with a restaraunt if it is not open all day. The neighborhood that the hotel is in offers no meals within walking distance.

great little place. easy to drive to everything. staff were very freindly. the only thing that was an inconvince was the elevator was down, but everything else was great.

The elevator didn't work and had to walk up and down many times. I don't know if the elevator is just broken or whether it's permanent!

Good location on the west side of Edmonton. Front desk desk staff friendly and helpful. That's about all the good I can say. The elevator doesn't work in a 4 storey hotel!. The stairwells are and stairs are in disrepair. I stayed there 3 different times and the quality of rooms varied with each stay. Some were OK, others were in bad need or repair. […] Problem seems to be foreign ownership/management who don't care or understand standards. Restaurant was good because it's leased to an independent operator and it was clear they are not happy with their relationship with the owners/management and probably won't be around for long. HOJO needs to have a talk with the owners/management of this hotel and sort them out or pull their franchise. Thy are giving the brand a bad name. I want my money back there is no way this hotel deserves one star. you sold me a room that was supposed to be 2 stars. the place was gross. it was a chinese restarant with a room in the back and you got to sleep with the dogs on the floor.

I stayed at this hotel for a night during one of brief visit to hotel and I will say it is somewhat below average hotel. Hotel looks little bit rough from inside as they have torn carpets and rough stairs. They got 4 floors and they don't have any elevator so you have to take stairs all the way up and down. They charge $30 as security deposit in case […] if you smoke in your room but they will give it back when you checkout. This is not a much problem but none of my any other hotel stay has charged that stupid deposit. By biggest complain is when I went there there was no water supply in washroom and their front counter told me that they are doing some repair work and water supply will resume in an hour. I went there for night stay and I just wanted to take my shower and go to sleep but the water was back by 11:30 PM almost the time to go to bed which kind of annoyed me. It's not much a big deal to get some maintinance problem or having any breakup but they should have informed me upfront when I checked in. The only reason i picked up this hotel was because it was closer to my interview location. I have no compalin about cleaning as everything was clean from bed sheets to room. In conclusion, I will not stay again this hotel if it is not closer to my any other appointments. I will look for something else but if you just want to sleep there for a night then it's okish to stay there. 더 보기

I asked the front desk to print some documents I really needed more than 4 time but I did not get what I wanted. One of their answer was try the nearby pharmacy(it was - 25 C). When I went there, guess what, it was closed. A hotel without print service!! That is weird.

No elevator, so they give you a 10 dollars coupon every night for the restaurant which its Canadian food chef is rarely there and they only provide Chinese. As I do not eat chinese food I ask to redeem my coupon with drinks and they don't like it and sometimes get upset. Why did give the coupon then!!!! hated that thing

The elevator wasn't working while we were there, neither was the pop machine. The heater in our room also didn't work, but they were quick to move us to another room. The hotel service was good, but the service in the hotel restaurant was horrible. The beds were comfy and the rooms were clean, so if you can put up with the other problems, it is a cheap […] price compared to other hotels in the city, but you get what you pay for I guess. 더 보기

Everything except some of the staff was low grade including the restaurant. Lied about free wi-fi too. A truck was even broken into beside us.

Firstly when we registered we were told that there was no elevator and we were on the third floor. Secondly we were told that there was a "continental breakfast" provided or a $10.00 certificate for the restaurant. We chose the "continental breakfast'. Next morning the restaurant said that there was no "continental breakfast". Thirdly the room that […] was assigned had no heat and the patio door would not lock. When I reported this the next morning I was told that I should have called down and we would have been supplied with more blankets, No apology, no offer of a discount. This Hotel was a 0 star, no elevator was not working and had not been for some time. The tub in the bathroom was in HORRIBLE condition.They told me to park at the side of the Hotel which I did the first night and I recieved a parking ticket from a private parking company, I advised the Hotel staff and they told me there was an on-going issue with tickets […] being issued that should not be, but they were not willing to help me with this. We have stayed at this hotel before and we were very satisfied for the price we paid for the room. However, this time around, there were various things that went wrong. Which any of them could have happened to any person. But all within the week we booked we were in 4 different rooms. Not that nice to deal with. In saying this though, the staff was […] wonderful when dealing with us regarding these issues. Always very friendly. Especially the gentleman that worked this week. I have to say he calmed me down. I think that if the hotel wasn't so full from the tournament that was going on. We would have been switched to a good room and stayed in that room for the remainder of the trip. I have to say that the restaurant is very slow when serving western food. But again, very friendly. So depending on if you can overlook waiting a little bit, I would recommend it. We will try this hotel again the next time we travel to Edmonton. But, hopefully the next time is a little smoother experience. 더 보기

Awful!

Outdated, no elevator, wifi rarely works, noisy, some staff have no-care attitude, vehicles get broken into outside at night, beds okay, not cleaned much, cheap but near West Ed Mall.

The staff were very friendly however when we checked in at 7pm our room was not ready- we waited for approx 30 min for them to complete it. There was no bath mat or kleenex in the room. Hotel Elevator was not working but received coupon for restaurant. Stairwell had a musty smell and some treadles were off the steps.

The elevator was not working we shopped all day and came I'm late so kids were real tired. They had to walk up 4 flights of stairs with our bags and luggage it was dissapointing. On the stairs was a lot of garbage and what looked like was empty cups from people partying. Over all not a family place. We just were to tired to care to say anything.

The stay wasnt bad...but when you have people drinking n smoking n being loud till six in the morning wasnt really good...we complained and they said if it happens again they would phone the police it happened for two days and i wasnt to happy about it...

The room I had was newly renovated, Nice and close to the mall and other great attractions. Rate was good staff were profesional and courtious, the only downside was the elevator was under repair and made it hard after alot of shopping to go up and down the stairs, but that will be fixed so no real flaws with my stay and i stayed 2 weeks. No Pool - Under renovations. No Elevator - broken, has been for two years. We were on the fourth floor. Site was under major renovations. Room was good and pillows were comfy.

This hotel sucks, elevator didn't work , stains on shower and toilet . Place was a mess, very dirty with a sigh out front about not tolerating prostitutes in area .

We had to stay on the 4th floor and there was no elevator. The hotel room was shabby looking and the bathroom door did not close and there was only one towel. There was loud partying and fighting until around 3 am which made it impossible to sleep. We called down and the attendant seemed annoyed by the complaint and they did little to rectify the situation. […] The maid came in the room unannounced (not even a knock) when we were getting ready in the morning before check out time. Finally we tried to use a coupon we were given for the restaurant and were told they were "out of meat". My partner stated that he had stayed in many hostels that were nicer than this hotel. Brutal Stay Away

This was the worst motel that I have ever stayed at. It is a total black eye for the Howard Johnson chain. The place was dirty everywhere from the lobby up. We were required to stay on the 4th floor and the elevator was not working. We were told not to leave anything of valve in our pickup so since we were on a hunting trip that meant many trips up […] and down from the 4th floor. We were given a $10 coupon to the hotel restaurant for our inconvenience but the restaurant did not open until 8:00 am and we could not wait that long. Many of the rooms on the lower floors were not occupied but we were told no rooms were available except on the 4th floor. At 4:00 am a fight broke out in the parking lot next to our truck. Worst experience of my families lives!! Carpets, stairwells etc were filthy. OUr room was not cleaned prior to our arrival. Beds werenot made and the sheets had hair and makeup on them. Our bathroom hadNO toilet paper, bath tub was gross and the guests before us left their razors etc in the bathroom! so, we read all the reviews and complaints people had before we chose this hotel. We got a good room, so we didnt have a problem. The only thing we probably could say or improve were the directions on the sight. The hotel is actually not directly on stony plain rd. Its behind a bank and this caused confusion for us when were looking for the hotel. But […] after we found the hotel it was fine. We werent bothered by anyone. When we requested to have a second floor room because we had kids and knew that at some point on our vacation we would be carrying them up the stairs; they accomodated us. The little cafe downstairs was not bad. But not great either. Our breakfast was disappointing. When we got lunch on the day we left it was good. However, the length of time it took for us to get served or to receive our food was disappointing. I think their focus was more on the ethnic crowd that was there for their diim sum. Which we didnt get to try while we were there so I cant rate that. But front desk people were awesome the whole time. I would definately go back again. the price was right and you get what you pay for people. Its not like you paid hundreds a night. The get yer beer here sign outside our window did bring a few laughs. And who can compain about convenience... 더 보기

Awful! 3rd floor at the end no elevator. Lock on door doesn't lock very easily. Had to keep asking for enough towels for the number of people in the reservation. Carpet coming up in room, sticky stains in carpet. Ate in our room from the restaurant down stairs. Food was cold and soggy (Chinese Food) and they didn't want to give me anything to use as […] a plate. I got told to eat out of the container. Extreamly disappointed.
