Very convenient to down town walking area. easy access to visitor center and trolley . Very friendly and helpful staff!!! Would stay there again and recommend to friends!

The bed had dirty sheets on it. Someones hair, etc. The tub and bathroom was just wiped down, no cleaning! Carpet was filthy. The desk person changed the sheets. also gave us soap to use for the room. The people were really nice about this situation. The breakfast was very good. I would not go there again.

When I pulled in the motel parking lot I was not too happy. Kind of embarrassed. I got my room key and went in the room... It was worse. Musty smell, nasty comforter, stained fabric headboards, bathroom was really out dated. We have a small dog, so that is why we chose this hotel last minute. The Thunderbird Inn is a holdover from the many roadside "motor courts" that dotted the country in the 1950's and 60's. The very plain and unpretentious cement-block two-storey motel sits two blocks from the western edge of the downtown historic district. The beginning of the River Street waterfront district is about a ten minute walk away, but you […] may want to drive into the city if you want to go further into the historic district. Rooms are clean and comfortable. A very basic Continental breakfast is served in the small lobby. The mini-fridges in the rooms are handy for storing drinks and snacks. The hotel is a renovated two-storey motel from the 1960s with a retro-themed decor. It has no indoor corridors. It was clean enough, though the carpet needed work. The maids need to be better trained. There was no hand soap when I arrived. The next day there still wasn't any, but there was a sachet of make-up remover. (I'm a man.) The hotel was great, excellent location, newly renovated so the quality was just as good as any other hotel in the city. Cute retro decorations true to the original style of the hotel. The man at the front desk was very insulting upon our arrival, he made a comment about how if we weren't "so cheap" in our decision to get the room we did (I just booked […] whatever had 2 beds!) we could have checked in early (we arrived early and asked what was the earliest we could check in, then headed to the beach). At check-in, he made another comment along the lines of "aren't we glad we were so cheap" and didn't have to pay a rate he quoted someone on the phone. It was really bizarre, and I'm not sure why he would belittle a room that is in his hotel (the room was perfect, no problems, perfectly clean and all we needed) but it was very off-putting when we arrived. Either way our stay was great, we had no problems with noise because it's off the main streets in Downtown Savannah. I have been to Savannah at least a dozen times, mostly for a St. Patty's rugby tournament, and this hotel was the best bet so far. This will be my first choice next time I visit Savannah. It was the cheapest hotel located in the historic distric, which is the place to be. So let's be frank: The look of this hotel isn't great. They've marketed it ats "the hippest hotel in Savannah" which is a bit of a stretch. It definately is outdated and not the fanciest hotel I've ever stayed in by any means. BUT what this hotel lacks in appearance and shwank it makes up for in location! The staff was very friendly upon arrival and throughout my whole visit here. I love that the lobby smelled like bubble gum and moon pies are placed on the pillows. The bed is very comfortable, not like the typical firm bedding you get at other hotels. I would book this hotel again if I return to Savannah.

This hotel is amazing deal considering its close distance to the historic district. It is still a trek and I do not recommend it to anyone without a love of walking.

I arrived at the Thunderbird at 9 in the morning after a long drive from Virginia. I was tired and wanted to sleep. The staff at the Thunderbird called me as soon as my room was cleaned and let me check in early. This made my trip to Savannah a much better time.

The cleanest inn I've ever stayed at. Convenient location. Five-minute walk to the trolley tour bus, Savannah visitor center and Savannah History Museum, opposite to the Greyhound station.

Nice hotel and comfortable but "breakfast" was donuts and coffee. Don't pay any extra for the complimentary breakfast! Fairly convenient to downtown and cute hotel.

I was taking a business trip and just needed an affordable place and this was it. It was clean, quite and very convenant. I love Savannah and when I take my family vacation there I plan on staying here again. It was great. Staff included.

Very friendly and helpful staff. Was surprised by the hold they put on our card for incidentals but it was removed after a couple of days. Fun place to stay and great price for the convenient location.

My fiance and I spent 2 nights here. You cannot get a better value in Savannah. I was able to hear some road noise from our room, but it wasn't bothersome. This hotel is on the outskirts of the historic district, so if you don't want to walk this isn't the place for you. It's really only an extra 5 minutes to anywhere. We were given a room that had a terrible odor,had no shower curtain bar in the bath and the tv remote did not work. The management did apologies and changed our room. the newsroom was just a bit better but not by much. We did not want to lose our pAyment so we stayed. Literally steps from the historic district (and.a very overpriced hotel). A little quirky, very pleasant and I guess the Oscar Meyer Weinermobile out front added the perfect comment, a neat little place.

Check in was a breeze. Staff was helpful to direct us to our dinner location. We had a car so we were only minutes from downtown historic Savannah, but not downtown prices. Room was comfy and large.

Upon my arrival, the concierge and staff were interested in making my stay pleasant and full of fun things to do. They made sure to show me where was best for me to go, and all with a southern charm and genuine friendliness. I would recommend this to anyone traveling to Savannah - the location, staff, and rooms were to brag about!

I really enjoyed my stay at the Thunderbird Inn for New Year's Eve weekend! This hotel is an excellent deal. It was very clean, comfortable, and was conveniently located in Savannah's historic district. It was an easy walk to Congress, Bay and River Streets. Love the colorful, retro-chic 1960s style of this nicely decorated hotel. It's also a good value in a decent location, considering that it can be significantly cheaper than hotels in the historic district 3 or 4 blocks away. I got MUCH better prices booking it via Hotels.com than directly on their own site, and the overall service at the hotel is not […] great. For some reason, they provide bath gel but no bars of soap, so bring your own for the sink. Early checkout of 11am isn't great, yet when we arrived at 3pm our room wasn't ready. overall recommend the thunderbird for its good location, comfy beds, and cute decor. There were no towels inside the room, the front desk had them delivered later. The rugs were wet and the room smelled musty, mildew. A little noisy with street noise.

Our family loved this motel. Whoopie pies at check-in along with hot chocolate and all the fixin's (it was mid November) was a nice surprise after our long drive. The room was plenty big for our family of four and was clean. Beds were comfortable and the neighborhood was quiet.
