The hotel location, overlooking Wappinger Creek, is lovely. Interior decorating is beautiful and bed was very comfortable. Cindy at the front desk wrote out directions for the quickest route to our grandson's concert in another town nearby. She also recommended a visit to a beautiful garden just up the road from the hotel.

The hotel is older and you can tell attempts have been made to modernize and the limited number of rooms is not overwhelming. The reviews about no sound proofing were dead on. The only way to dampen the noise from the busy road and the neighboring room was to run the heat or ac full blast, close the room darkening shades, and turn the TV on 7 all night. […] Ask for a room away from the road and away from other guests for a quiet night. The hotel seemed airless and somewhat musty despite a lovely setting on the river. Could be remedied by just opening some doors and windows, I expect. Room was modest, unexceptional. We loved this hotel -- it is not on the main drag (Route 9) in Poughkeepsie, which was fine with us! It was VERY clean, quiet, nice staff, great breakfast. Very nice location and physical amenities. Had an issue with shower temperature (could set too hot or too cold but not in between). Also, some noise from nearby guests due to thin walls, but that is pretty common for hotels. Nice breakfast, but coffee production could not keep up with demand.

The walls between rooms are extremely thin and the guests next to me kept me awake until 2:30 a.m. I didn't complain because they were not doing anything out of the ordinary, just normal social activity. After making the reservation I called the hotel to find out about the check in time, and I received a very unenthusiastic "Front desk" response. Hours later, the woman working behind the desk showed little enthusiasm as well. I am glad to say that the young man who was working upon my check out was friendly. Our room was very nicely furnished. The breakfast was delicious and the lounge had a very pretty view. We were there at Thanksgiving and had a pleasant morning watching the paraqde on TV in the lounge. I would definitely go there again and recommend it to anyone.

No ramp to wheel luggage to 101. Screaming children at breakfast. Poor breakfast selection. Did we get the room next to the boiler because we booked on Expedia? Could hear people in next room. Yuk!

Clean, reasonably well maintained, and fairly reasonably priced. Convenient to FDR Hyde Park house and CIA campus. Good place for an overnight stay while sightseeing.

Lovely location -- be sure to get a view of the river (not the parking lot.) Slept through the breakfast so can't comment on that but the room/suite was comfortable and we loved the giant jacuzzi tub.

So, we read about this lovely stream at the back of the hotel where guests can have breakfast and overlook the stream at the same time and we were hooked. We loved the romantic stream which was right there.....I mean go to the terrace and you can hear and see the river as you eat!! We went to Poughkeepsie to enjoy the fall colors and visit the FDR […] home and library, the Vanderbilt Mansion, and the walkway over the Hudson. I loved the hotel...stay at least two nights. Windows could certainly be cleaned, spider webs especially. An entire wall of glass led us to our room, as did the breakfast area detracting from the view of the Falls! Our room and bath areas were spotless and comfortable. Breakfast was adequate for my tastes.
