스테이 온 메인 (Stay on Main) - 로스앤젤레스

4~5성급 호텔을 갈 돈의 여력이 안되서 한인민박집을 가느니 이런곳이 훨씬 낫습니다. 이번에 한인민박을 갔다가 너무 불청결한 시설에 실망하고 엄청난 위약금을 물고 이곳으로 옴겼습니다. 쉐어드 배쓰룸인거가 조금 불편하시다면 금액을 10불정도 올리셔서 예약하시구요. 사실 공용화장실 진짜 싫어했는데 여긴 뭐 거의 기숙사뺨치는 시설입니다. 미국 대학 기숙사 써보신분들은 아시겠지만 엄청 깔끔하고 청결합니다. 냄새도 안나구요. 앞으로 민박집 절대 이용안하렵니다.

프로모션 가격으로 숙박하게 되어 여러모로 만족하였습니다. 실내공간도 넓고 깨끗하고 무엇보다 제가 방문하고자 하는 장소들과 인접해서 좋았습니다. 상대적으로 평판이 나쁜 Cecil호텔중 일부를 Renovated한 것으로 보이는데, 성공적인 것 같습니다. 2011년 3월 현재 깨끗함과 호텔서비스는 만족입니다. 매일 침구류 정리 및 수건을 새것으로 세팅해두고 방엔 큰 LCD TV가 있으며, 무드등은 무척 이쁘더군요 :) 비록 샤워실은 공용이었지만, 제가 묵은 방엔 조그만 세면대가 딸려있어 간단한 양치나 손씻고 세수하기엔 전혀 무리가 없었습니다. 사실 프로모션되지 않은 가격에서도 이정도 수준과 위치의 호텔에 묵기란 쉽지 않을 것 […] 같네요. 그리고 오트밀과 여러종류의 시리얼, 티, 우유 등 아침도 요기할 수 있어 아침일찍부터 여행하는데 많은 도움이 되었습니다. 다시 LA를 방문한다면 이곳에서 다시 묵을 것 같네요. 참고로 호텔 자체 주차장을 가지고 있지 않지만, 주위의 유료주차공간도 많으며 야간에 무료주차할 수 있는 곳도 꽤 있습니다. :) 더 보기

bad service lousy accommodations and tiny rooms and showers... slow and i mean super slow/undertrained staff and too many bad stuff to list... but for the price they advertise... what do u expect...

I love downtown LA, and the neighborhood around the hotel. The lounge has free wi-fi (none of the room do) and the share bathrooms and showers are fine (wish there was more toilet paper to replace finished roles). The rooms look like Ikea threw up up all over them, but in a great way. There are a couple of cons to consider however: (1) when I checked […] in they had lost my reservation? and thought I had cancelled? they were really accommodating about it, and it ended up not being a problem, but it also happened to the woman who was checking in next to me. (2) there are small ceiling fans in the rooms, but the windows do not open, so my room got stuffy in the spring, and I can only imagine how horrible it might be in the summer. 더 보기

Area was very bad. Very close to Los Angeles boulevard where all the homeless come out before the stores even close. Room smelt very moldy and there was an air freshner to mask the smell. Carpets were so dark probably on purpose so you wouldn't see how dirty it was. No heater, and out pillows had lumps in them. I slept on my towel.

Clean, comfortable room with large flat screen television. Breakfast was minimal, location was close to metro and easy to find.

Downtown LA is weird, sketchy, and awesome. I had business downtown and so this hotel was very convenient. My room was private with a shared bathroom. Room was very clean, had a sink in it. The shared bathroom was also clean - shower and toilet. There are strange characters on Main so don't be surprised. However, I felt safe in the hotel. Room looked like Dr. Suess threw up on it. DEFINITELY not for a romantic getaway. Would be perfect for a traveling teen/college student.

"Stay on Main" is actually the Cecil Hotel!! They don't even have their own elevator, you have to leave their lobby thru a back door that leads you into the back of the Cecil Hotel's lobby to use that elevator to get to your floor, then you have to use your room key to get back to their side of the Cecil Hotel structure (which appears to be just the […] first few floor of the Cecil Hotel). It is much cheaper to just stay at the Cecil Hotel if you are going to stay here, because it is the exact same builiding structure. Had I known this I would have NEVER booked a room here. I would have just stayed at the Cecil which is just as clean and actually has a much better and bigger lobby! 더 보기

When I go to LA, I always stay at the Stay. Customer service is great. Free breakfast; cereal, tea, coffee. The hotel goes Green ei no air conditioning or heat, just extra blankets & a fan. Shared bathroom/showers are pretty clean. Parking is $20 for overnight! (Ridiculous!) when you can park vertically cross for $9!! I spent the weekend with my boyfriend here and it was great. All we wanted was a clean place. You go anywhere else with this price and you get a run down motel or inn that does not feel clean or safe. I spent hours looking for a place to stay and this was perfect. The only thing that bummed me out was they did not have a room with a private bathroom […] available but it ended up being okay because the bathroom/shower was right in front of our room. Honestly, we aren't picky people so this was perfect. It says it comes with an ipod dock but we didn't have one in our room. I'm sure if I pointed it out they would have provided us with one but we didn't mind. We went to Santa Monica for the day on Friday and it was a little over 15 miles from the hotel and was not too far from Hollywood which is where we hung out on Saturday. It's conveniently located to everything. Breakfast is from 7-10 am and it's just cereal. We never made it on time so we're not sure if anything else was there lol. They have a cute cafe in the "Cecil" lobby called "Marty's" and the staff was really nice and everything was decently priced and affordable. They had a variety of things like pastries, snacks, soups, etc.. The location wasn't thaat bad. I just wouldn't recommend walking more than half a mile after 8:30 pm. ESPECIALLY if you're a woman/young lady. We had dinner reservations at 9pm, 3/4 of a mile away called J Lounge I believe. We decided to walk since it wasn't too far away and it was a bit nerve racking, especially on the way back. Super sketchy.Thankfully I had my bf who was with me otherwise I would have definitely called a cab or something. Last thing: They don't have free parking but there is one right next to the hotel. Expect to pay more than $10 but the people were nice. My car was fine and it was there for the two nights we slept. Overall I really enjoyed my stay and it was a convenient location. Great value for money, clean and tidy, include breakfast and wifi. But be careful when going out at night, You can see many beggar on the street.

The location is good and price is affordable in downtown. But be careful to make sure the room is working properly before you go out for tour. My lock is for display only. The manager is inefficient, for almost a month, he did not follow up my complaint.

It's an okay place to stay at, but it's basic. Nothing special and nothing less to it. Also it's confusing since it's attached to The Cecil Hotel. Parking was not included I had to pay for each night.

nothing to expect beside a room and a bed. shared bathroom is always a mess. very poor organisation: it took over 40 min to get our roomkeys, they couldn't find and mixed up the reservation and where calling every day, why I haven't left the room yet (and I explained every day, that I have a reservation for more than one night)

I spent most of my trip with a friend in O.C., but planned to spend a day in L.A.. Since I didn't want to head back south when I needed to drive back home in the morning, I searched for a cheap(ish) place to crash that was close to I-5 and Stay on Main fit the bill. For those who are going to have a car, Stay on Main does not have its own parking lot. […] Finding overnight parking downtown could be challenging and/or pricey. I paid $17 at a nearby lot, but it was also NYE, so that may have been part of it. I would recommend doing a little research on parking options ahead of time. Check-in was quick and the guy at the front desk was great about giving everyone a quick rundown of facilities, etc. My room was very clean and comfortable- just like the pictures. Having the sink in the room was really convenient for bedtime (I had a single without an en suite bath). I forgot flip flops, so I cannot speak on the shared showers, but it was kinda weird that the toilets did not have a sink. Overall, I am happy with my experience and would recommend Stay on Main as home-base for exploring the L.A. area. 더 보기

Convenient and cheap if you want something close to LA LIVE ....

We really enjoyed our stay here. It had the comforts of a hotel, but the amenities and community of a hostel. The staff were very helpful and friendly, but they were understaffed at night, when a lot of people were checking in at once. Tidy, Ikea rooms. Just enough for a comfortable sleep room. Very much like staying on a small sailboat. Bathroom more like a head. Highly recommend if that appeals to you.

Hard place to find. It was also a Hostel which I didn't know at first. Community bathrooms and showers and small twin beds were the norm there. Had to find my own parking.

It was such a bad experience stay here for almost a week. The neighborhood is very dangerous and no parking lot. If you have a car. You will need to pay 10-15 dollars each day to park overnight somewhere near the hotel. Actually, I would say it's not a hotel. It's more like a hostel that you share bathroom. Close to everything downtown. Clean, modern, with friendly staff. Would definitely stay here again and would recommend to anyone. Convenient to public transportation.

This hostel was very clean and comfortable. It felt like being somewhere in Europe. The location was pretty good too. I would definitely recommend it to other travelers.

I love this hotel! Location is really good. Close to everything you need. Found good parking, and the staff is nice. since its Downtown the surrounding can get a little loud, but i dont mind at all

I was looking for a place to stay in downtown LA so that I didn't have to drive back up the coast after drinks/dinner with some friends. This place was PERFECT! It's a nice, clean, basic hostel and perfect - if you're only needing a place to stay. There was free wi-fi and a little breakfast in the morning as well.

First off, police were talking to some crazy person or bum as soon as I got there. So right there, shows just what a great neighborhood this was. Guy that gave me my room was nice, but I was told there was a $50 hold in case anything happens to the room. Not cool that it was not talked about on this website. When I got to the room, the key was horrible. […] Had to play around for a good minute to get it open. This happened EVERY TIME I tried to open my door. Lights to the bath and restroom was not working on some of the public places, which shows that maintaince sucks there. The bed was actually nice and it was not too hot, which was the only plus on this stay. The price is cheap, but not worth the $50 hold and will def be staying elsewhere from now on. 더 보기

I was attending an event at California Market Center the hotel was 5 blocks away and walking distance to Fashion District. There's plenty of places to eat and shop in the area, it's loud at night so if your a light sleeper I suggest ear plugs.

I can tell you for sure that this is not a place where human can stay over night. The picture may look fine because of photoshop makeover but if you see the actual place you wouldn't believe how dirty this place is. The room smelled like fungus and bathroom shower was a full of hairs. I checked into the Queen bed with shared bath room.I soon realized that this room doesnt have a bath and toilet inside the room although this might have been a mistake by me while booking.However I saw another couple also run into the same problem and eventually both of us ended up upgrading to a room with bath/toilet inside the room.Otherwise the bath […] and toilet is in the walkway and we need to share it with others on the floor.Also there was no AC in the room but only ceiling fans.The complimentay breakfast was also just cereals and coffee.The room wasnt great too.I would want to stay here the next time I visit LA. 더 보기

You get what you pay for. The room was cute and nicely decorated. We got the room with the private bathroom which was nice. There was a bug. I suggest you bring your own pillows.

This hotel appears to have taken over portions of the Cecil hotel and renovated the space. You start in the lobby of Stay on Main, then you go up a tiny flight of stairs with your bags to get to double doors. When you go through the doors you are now in the Cecil hotel next door. You use their elevator and go to your floor. There appear to be plenty […] of hallway bathrooms and quite a few communal spaces both in the lobby and on the floors (foos ball table, couches, etc.) if you go ahead with a room without a bathroom. However, I didn't go in any of them so I don't know what they are like. I opted for a private bathroom. The rooms are very simple. I only needed a place to sleep so it was fine. There was a bug in the bathroom when I came in, which worried me but it appeared to be the only one and you can't fault a place for having one bug. Sheets are pretty thin and pillows aren't top quality but I wasn't expecting them to be. It was all new and clean and that's as much as I was hoping for. I would probably stay again for the price if the need arose. On my way out, i left the key in the room. Oops, when you get to the M (mezzanine or main) floor, you need your key to enter the lobby. Oh well I just took the elevator down to the lobby of the Cecil hotel and walked out there with no narrow stairs to descend. 더 보기

The hotel was great for the price, but I was really upset to find out that they were putting a$ 50 hold on my card for" incidentals" and then they imprinted my card and refused to shred the document when I checked out. I had to cancel my card because I don't want my card number to be sitting there for anyone.

They got my booking wrong twice. I asked for a private bathroom and they said there is breakfast but when I got the confirmation, it showed that we were booked for the dorm room. when we arrived, the room was stuffy, hot without an AC when I and the fan wasn't working. They moved us to a different room and the TV wasn't working and there was no remote […] control. The fan barely worked, we had to get a portable fan in the room, we still didn't get the TV working. It sucked. They didn't have any shampoo or shower gel in the bathroom. The room was very noisy. I won't recommand anyone staying here. The front desk people were nice but they didn't give us any discount for all the trouble. There was no manager on site. 더 보기

Although the bed was clean, there is no desk or chair in the room (othr than a huge "hand" chair with large fingers which is impossible to sit on comfortably. The shower (you have to go into the4 hallway and use your hotel key to enter the common shower) frequently did not have hot water. The elevator does not come to the ground floor but must be accessed […] thru the mezzanine. The internet swervice was frequently out (half of the time I tried to use it) and is only available in the lobby. I know it is an older hotel but I dont think I'll stay there again. 더 보기

The Hotel itself was what you would expect for the money; however we have stayed in better budget hotels for the same price. The staff were sometimes incompetent - but it was the man with the knife that scared us off (read on). We had a booking for 3 nights but only brave enough to stay for one. My partner and I are from East London and Moss Side Manchester, […] so we are no strangers to rough areas! However, Downtown LA is a completely different story. Homeless people constantly begging for money from you, and when you refuse they often get pretty aggressive. We walked about half a block down the street when we saw one man pull out a knife and hold it to another man just for not moving out of the way when he crossed the road. This was enough for us to leave. When we told the assistant at the check in desk that we were leaving she seemed almost too at ease - almost like it happens on a regular occurrence? Downtown LA is not what you seen in rock videos. Its scary. unsafe and unclean. Spend a little extra and stay nearer to commercial areas where you can feel a little safer. 더 보기

My wife and I spent a night at the Stay, and we enjoyed it. Very clean and well kept. It is a great deal for it's location. Not a typical motel room.
