베서머 호텔 (Bessemer Hotel) - 머티르 티드필

Friendly, cheap (but reasonable quality) hotel off the tourist trail, but close to the Brecon Beacons. Carvery dinner was £8.95 pp.

The hotel finds its roots being bared to show the buildings previous existence as a club. The lounge and dining areas suffer a little with the dated look and reuse of the club fixtures. The booth areas are not particularly suited to dining as it isn't very comfortable to eat from the seating position it offers. We had dinner and breakfast at the hotel […] and the food was excellent, albeit the dinner service was a little odd. I suspect the dining mainstay is the carvery, which looked excellent. However we ordered of the menu rather then the carvery, what was odd was that when the order was ready we had to pick it up at the back of the carvery queue and get the vegetables we wished from the carvery. Still apart from this oddness (and the doorbell for service), the food was great. The room was tidy and had all the required facilities. My only problem and it isn't only this hotel is the brick foam pillows that hotels insist on supplying. The single biggest problem I have with hotel stays is sleeping and having rubbish pillows inevitably means that I know it will be a struggle. The only other criticism I have is that the hotel had a function going which had loud music until Midnight. Having only a single floor for rooms meant that there wasn't anywhere we could be moved to get away from this. It's unlikely I will stay here again, I tend to visit the area every few weeks for one night, which is always a Friday. Combining both the pillow and noise issues highlighted and weighing them against the positives of the food will for me not give me enough incentive to revisit, and for that reason I'm out. 더 보기

this hotel is really good and hotel does a real good breakfast and dinner

After driving around in circles for a while (the AA Route Planner was totally off the mark), we arrived at the hotel and were pleasantly surprised. Check-in was fast, desk clerk was extremely pleasant. The room was very nice, a good size and very clean. The food in the restaurant was excellent, especially the carvery food. The only drawback to this […] hotel is its location. Its located in a residential/industrial area so the views from the window were not great. Very pleased with my stay, staff were very helpful, friendly and knowlegeable. . Was pleasantly suprised by room quality, even if my room 'creaked' a bit when I walked around.
