Crystal Hotel Asmara
10/10 Excellent
"The Crystal Hotel is the best hotel in Eritrea in a great location walking distance to almost everything downtown.Rooms are sizeable, clean and comfortable. Staff is super friendly and helpful. Breakfast at the in-house cafe is substantial. Hotel has WiFi but EVERYWHERE in Eritrea WiFi is super slow. So don't expect to do much more than send emails, which takes time to load incoming and send outgoing. Apps work better than web browsers, which basically don't work. Literally getting one email from your outbox to sent could take 10 - 20."

4 tips for savvy savings when booking a hotel in Eritrea
Book for the cheapest times: For budget-conscious travelers, Eritrea offers great value for money, especially during March, November, and December when hotel prices may drop to lower prices. A stay of at least 4 days is ideal for exploring key landmarks, historical sites, cultural attractions, and natural wonders. This is a budget-friendly destination that provides affordable options for those interested in experiencing its rich heritage and diverse attractions.
Look for last-minute deals on Hotels.com: Hotels.com offers options to save in Eritrea by browsing the DealsOpens in a new window section, where you may discover discounted hotels near your travel date. For travellers seeking last-minute options, the Last-Minute Deals area could help you find reduced rates on available rooms. Additionally, by using the Smart Shopping tool available via the app, you’re more likely to see a comparison of hotel prices and amenities, ensuring you stay informed about flash sales and special promotions.
Be flexible with dates: Prices may vary depending on factors like the hotel's location, star rating, and the time of year, so being flexible with your dates could help you save on your stay at an Eritrea hotel. For those seeking a unique experience, boutique hotels might offer a more personalized stay and sometimes even better value. When you book with Hotels.com, we'll inform you if the price for your chosen dates is above or below the average, and if it's on the higher side, we may suggest more affordable dates to help you potentially find a better deal.
Consider your location: Staying in the center of major cities in Eritrea can offer convenience but often comes with higher prices. Smaller towns and rural areas tend to be more affordable, providing travelers with a budget-friendly alternative. For better rates, consider choosing hotels outside the city center; however, keep in mind that this may require additional travel to key attractions. Additionally, exploring alternative nearby cities may yield more wallet-friendly options while still offering plenty to see and do.
