Catalonia Riviera Maya Resort and Spa All Inclusive
8/10 Good
"Very clean resort with many things to do. Room was very nice and air-conditioning worked great. We were upgraded to a bigger room for some reason I am not aware of but I did not complain. I always need a cool/cold room when sleeping and this definitely fit the bill. Deck was also nice too and was quite big. Restaurants were nice and clean. You definitely need to book all the restaurants in advance as they fill up quickly. The booking website could use some better work as it was hard to cancel and change reservations. Pools were nice and cleaned every morning. Beach was maintained as best as possible every morning given the bad seaweed season. The beach is not the best but you can snorkel and see many fish. On some days, there was no seaweed at all. Staff is very friendly and willing to help as much as possible. Bars were plentiful with a lot of seating. We didn't upgrade to the privileged status, but the selection was okay. Nightly shows were great and entertaining. Be sure to show up early. All in all in was a great resort. Not sure why there are so many negative reviews. I have been to over 30+ all-inclusive resorts throughout Central America and this was by no means in the bottom half of lower 75%. The only negative is how far it is from the airport; its about an hours drive from Cancun/airport. So if you are booking any excursions that are in Cancun or leave from Cancun, be prepared to spend at least an hour or 2 in the car."
Secrets Tulum Resort & Beach Club - Adults Only - All Inclusive
10/10 Excellent
"So many good things to say and people to shoutout but I can’t forget to personally say Carlos and Hadai are the best drink makers and entertainers. Julio is the best contact anyone could dream of on the resort and even helped me recover my lost phone. Camilla is also great and even though I didn’t buy what she sold she is so fun to talk to and persuasive. Maria and another gentleman (forgot his name) keep things very fun and interesting. I really wish I remembered his name because he is amazing from volleyball to water aerobics to the cycling tour. I typically don’t revisit places but this one will be a repeat for sure. I even started doing yoga out there for the first time in my life because Barbara is so fun and knowledgeable.
My advice during the hot season is to eat, get some good drinks at the preferred lounge, then head to the beach club until about 3:30. The pools at the resort will pop off and games will begin after this so the resort will be the place to be after 4pm until dinner.
I will say my girlfriend’s glasses went mysteriously missing but we don’t know how so I won’t blame the resort for that but definitely use your safe for all personal belongings."
"We had a medical emergency at the hotel and the staff was great and acted quickly at getting us a doctor and continuously checked up on us. Thankful for their assistance. Hotel
Was clean except for the shared bathrooms. People failed to flush, but that’s not really the staff but the visitors. Good was average. Would have appreciated authentic Mexican food, but was unable to locate any. The entertainment at night was good. Michael Jackson show
Was exceptional. Over all a good experience, but could do little things to improve the experience."
"Tout les restaurants à la carte étaient décevant vraiment.
Malheureusement le buffet était meilleure..
Beaucoup d’algue pour la période d’août
Très petit resort, petite piscine … pour un séjour de 1 semaine, tu fais vite le tour…
Ce n’est pas un 9/10, je donne à l’hôtel un 7.8/10
Tout le personnel était parfait et très accueillant"
"There was not much food options. We opted for A la Carta and we were advise that no reservation was required however when we reach at the restaurant they advise us that they now required reservation and was roll out the day after we checked in. They mentioned advise was sent but we didn't receive any notification on the app nor email"

4 tips for savvy savings when booking a hotel near Riviera Maya
Book for the cheapest times: Visiting Riviera Maya during September to November can be a great value for money, as hotel prices may drop to lower prices, making it an affordable choice for those on a budget. For travelers interested in landmarks, history, and culture, attractions such as the beach, ruins, snorkeling, sea, relaxing spots, entertainment venues, excursions, romantic settings, dancing, and swimming offer a rich experience. Plan for at least 4 to 5 days to fully explore these attractions.
Look for last-minute deals on Hotels.com: Hotels.com offers enticing DealsOpens in a new window to Riviera Maya, where you may discover discounted rates on hotels near your travel date. You could find last-minute offers by visiting the Last-Minute Deals section and enabling alerts to stay updated on flash sales. Additionally, the app’s Smart Shopping tool lets you compare hotel prices and amenities, so if rooms become available or prices drop, you're more likely to see a timely opportunity for a getaway.
Be flexible with dates: Prices can fluctuate based on various factors, including the hotel's location, star rating, and the time of year. Being flexible with your travel dates may help you find a better deal on your stay near a Riviera Maya hotel. If you're interested in a distinctive experience, boutique hotels often provide a more personalized touch and may offer better value. When you book through Hotels.com, we’ll inform you whether the price for your chosen dates is above or below the average. If the price seems a bit high, we can suggest alternative dates that might be more budget-friendly to help you find a suitable option.
Consider your location: Choosing to stay near major attractions or downtown areas can be convenient, but it often comes with a higher price tag. For more budget-friendly options, you might want to look at hotels in neighborhoods that are a bit farther away, as they usually tend to be cheaper while still providing reasonable access to the sites you want to visit. You could also consider independent hotels located further out, which can offer a more genuine and cost-effective experience.
