Great staff, rooms need some updating.

The staff were lovely from my phone call earlier in the week prior to our stay and at check-in, breakfast service and check-out. The hotel is in an old property, our room was in need of some updating and renovation but that was acknowledged by staff and our bill was reduced accordingly. Very nice breakfast.

Really nice stay, friendly, helpful staff. Hotel is a little tired but comfortable, clean and well appointed. Food yummy, on site parking plentiful and drinks prices reasonable. We will definitely be back.

Relaxing break

We enjoyed last year’s visit. But the latest visit was even better. The staff were even more friendly, both in the bar and other areas. In view of this we dined in and spent more in the bar.

Great manager but room past its best

Manager was great with changing room when there was problems with key. But new room was next to outside beer tables area which was noisy. Had early start so ideally needed a room in quieter room. Room itself looked tired, with wallpaper peeling off wall. But bedroom was ok and bed was comfortable.

Rather ‘tired’ public areas that will benefit from a planned refit, but the bedroom was clean and spacious. Being on the high street made road noise and passing public rather disturbing, until late night , but it was manageable and did not detract from the overall stay. I will use this hotel again when in area.

The property is in needed of a refurb, but this was reflected in the price. We stayed 3-nights. Everything worked well for us. The bed was very comfortable and the meals we had in the dining room were good. Pity about the awful weather and congestion on the roads due to M25 works…….but beautiful countryside and tourist spots around!

The stay at this hotel was terrible. States that it is wheelchair friendly but it is not at all suitable for someone like me who is disabled.

Lovely staff but rooms are getting too over tired

The reception lady was excellent but the rooms are so tired and we need to stay at least several times a month so we know what we are getting but this time in room 11 the shower was broken and there was no hot water , we don’t expect allot but for £100 you expect at least the minimum ! The staff are great can’t fault them but each room by room just needs new windows and showers and it will be passable, for the price you need to upgrade the rooms basics at least

Have stayed at this hotel many times and normally would give a fiver stat review across the board. However for the first time I stayed in room one and never again as the bathroom was very poor The sink is a small sink you would normally find in a downstairs toilet and there is a glass shelf placed above it. You cannot get down to use the sink properly so water ends up all over the floor and you have to do everything standing up.

Tied hotel.

Very dated. Paint peeling off the ceiling and wall paper missing. Shower not working and silicone around bath black and mouldy. Carpets had stains on them and transformer plugged in roof so works can be carried on outside.

Building in sore need of some remedial works, extractor fan not working, bathroom ceiling coming adrift in large flakes, weirdly, no headboard on the bed?! Food average, but breakfast.... truly the worst hollandaise ever! Thin, weirdly slimy with a nasty industrial taste. Not out of a jar, according to the waiter, but his assurance that he'd pass the comment to head office suggests it isn’t (as I'd already surmised) made on site to order.

I have never experienced such a poor standard of accommodation as offered here. The reviews which I unfortunately had not read have been poor since 2019 and clearly nothing has been done to address these issues. I shall be complaining at the highest level and expecting a full refund.

Good car parking, slightly tight entrance. Friendly helpful staff. Had to change room door to flooded & wet carpet but received free breakfast & discounted room rate. Very tired building with wallpaper coming away, flaking ceilings. Very hot with no control over radiator temperatures. We had to have window fully open to cool the room.

Clean and comfortable but room in desperate need of major upgrade; photos on website misleading. Wallpaper peeling, paint fragmented, no "nice" wooden headboard, challenging lights (had to fumble to the bedside lights to find switch then go back to door to turn on), old fashioned plumbing with v hot water (good) mixed with a lot of air (bad) so spurted. Burger was excellent.
