The nightlife in Yilan is very modest. Being quite a rural county of Taiwan, it’s the sort of place where most people go to sleep quite early. However, there are a few bars and late-opening cafés around the city centre. They’re particularly popular with the expatriate community.
As with many places around Taiwan, the most popular part of Yilan’s nightlife is the night market. Here, you’ll find a great selection of local snacks, low-cost shopping and the occasional fairground-style game. Yilan is famous for its especially friendly and welcoming locals, making the night market a great place to make new friends.
