Booked this hotel based on its close proximity to Union Station and National Mall. Traveling with 2 children, and read about its rooftop pool, which I knew the kids would love. Arrived via Amtrak and checked in at 10:30 pm via their kiosk as their front desk was overwhelmed with complaining guests. That was first red flag. Chose to upgrade to breakfast package for our two morning stay, charged resort fees of $35/night. Room was clean, comfortable, and we had a peaceful sleep. Next day, we toured DC. Came back around 3 for kids to swim in pool. Advised they couldnโt because of 21 and over event - not told to us beforehand when reservations were made months ago. So pool was not even used; resort? Yeah, right. During said event which was a public event, not just for guests, my children were exposed to adults misbehaving, using bad language/racial slurs, scantilly dressed, smoking, drug use and my 8 year old saw adult relations on the elevator. Yes - you heard that right. Adult relations of the oral kind. Think frat party. Complained, and was told by property management that since there was no staff report, there was nothing that could be done. Staff is part of the problem. They were engaged in the behaviors too. We checked out immediately the next morning and are embroiled in a battle to be refunded. This trip proved to be traumatic to my family. YOTEL is NOT FAMILY-FRIENDLY. PERIOD.
