No problems at check-in - welcome drinks were much appreciated. Our room was on the third floor, and as with 2 other similarly-rated properties we have stayed at in Barbados, there is no lift. A porter took care of our baggage, but walking up and down the stairs every time you leave/return to your room can get a bit wearing.
The room was a good size, and fairly well equipped, although the kitchenette area was a bit sparse, and we noticed some tiny ant-like mites on the work surface on occasions. Although we had a view out to the beach and pool from our balcony, this was over the body of the hotel/restaurant area, and the noise from the generators wasn't particularly conducive to relaxation.
The sunbeds around the pool were all taken very early on our first 2 days, so we went on the beach, which in fairness was lovely - probably the hotel's biggest asset, although the staff were also generally very pleasant and helpful. As well as the hotel restaurant, there are a couple of decent eating options opposite, but for a wider choice (and an adequately stocked supermarket) you need to walk east for around 10-15 minutes, either down the highway or via the beach/boardwalk, neither of which are ideal after dark.
All in all we had an enjoyable stay, and would consider using it again for the beach, but would undoubtedly prefer a lessy noisy room with unobstructed views.
