Great stay but wasn't close to the beach. Also not many vegetarian options for breakfast.

Was happy with the service at the Avista Novotel. The staff were lovely and helpful. I was surprised to return to my room on my Birthday to find rose petals and orchids sprinkled on the bed! Not only that but a Birthday 🍰 in the fridge!! A lovely touch! We were disappointed that the Shuttle was no longer available as it was when we booked! This meant a very steep walk down and up Laem Sai road to get into Kata town! We did complain. There were many apologies and it was sad that the staff had to deal with this complaint. The Shuttle service was available in the morning to take the Chinese tourists down the hill to meet their tour bus!!!!!!! This involved 3 Novotel vans. Reminds me of an old saying”what’s good for the goose is good enough for the gander”!!!!! Anyway if you are booking remember to add 400 baht per day for a tuk tuk/taxi to take you up and down or take some comfy shoes!!!!!

This is our second trip to Avista (the first in 2012); but little has changed since then (which is part of the problem). The hotel is of a good standard, but things are starting to look tired (including the pool area, games room, and bedrooms). There is no major problem, and a bit of maintenance and paint can solve most of the issues (although in it's current state I would not class this as a 4.5 star hotel). However, the staff deserve a special mention they are extremely attentive and can not do enough for you. The hotel is worth staying at for the staff alone. Don’t pay too much attention to the negative reviews on ‘the hill’. If you are reasonably healthy you will have no issues, it is only about 100 metres and takes a minute or two to get up. Overall we will be back, but we will check the reviews on the maintenance/state of the facilities

Lovely 3 day break from BKK. The hotel seemed to be getting ready for the season, and maybe changing brand (we had second hand room key wallets!) gardening taking place, deep cleaning, etc. Room upgrade was great, thank you, lack of 'goodies' in the room but could be a new green move, no hand towels but think they didn't expect to be giving that room to us, all sorted next day. Good choice on TV channels, we had a great view but would be hit and miss I think. Breakfast was good but missing some items, like cold cuts (they did appear once asked for) bacon, seem to be catering for Chineses market which is fine. Lovely staff, brilliant egg station, (Thanks Jor). Nice bread choices, fab coffee and tea selection. Why are pool towels so far from the pool? Someone needs to look at the library and sort the books, it's a great asset, make it a bit more professional. The pool needs some attention to tiling, some broken tiles, a bit dangerous. Overall, the staff made it and I wish them a good season. Note restaurant may need price cutting to compete and a look at menus, promotions, etc. Would go back, one presumes there is a beach shuttle for the hill in season?
