What a wonderful stay!! We got into Villa Golondrina after a long day of travel. The house was spotless, extremely comfortable, and there was a nice welcome package with some items for breakfast the next morning. When I woke up I was greeted by the extraordinary views of the rain forest and the valley below. The house is located about a ten minute drive from Santa Elena where there are some very nice restaurants and places to shop. It is also very well located for visiting the hiking trails into the Cloud Forest. If you happen to have a student studying abroad at CIEE Monteverde, the campus is located about 5 minutes from Villa Golondrina.
If you are visiting the area, please do not hesitate to stay here. Villa Golondrina will be a great home base to see the area.

Deep in Monteverde
Wonderful cosy cottage deep in Monteverde. The drive from St Elena is worth it! There are lots of bugs at night but
it is manageable. So many birds! So serene! Comfy beds. Yummy welcome food. Carlos was super kind and attentive, and took care of our needs (extra chair, longer clothing line for hanging our clothes).

Lovely place to stay
Villa Golondrina is in a lovely location, with great views. It was clean and comfortable, with modern conveniences. The hosts left a nice collection of eggs, bread, etc.
Carlos was great to work with. The signage to the location once we got close to San Luis was quite good. Lots of birds in the yard, on neighborhood roads, and on the trail to the river.
The one potential drawback is that it is more in San Luis than in Monte Verde, and the road can be rough. But the road was better than the one to Selvatura, and plenty of people drive there. The distance was easy to adjust to as well. I would happily stay there again if we return to the region.
