We thought the Highdown Inn In was excellent. The room was good, and dinner in the evening was very good. Would recommend this hotel. Also reasonable cost not expensive.

This is an absolute gem of a hotel and location If your planning a break ..walking ...cycling or just touring the island i eould highly recommend The mixture of traditional pub style bar..excellent food selection. and quality.mixed with the modern day room designs..and warm inviting staff i would highly recommend

6/10 Good

Nice hotel in a good location with parking. Comfy bed. Slightly dated decor and a tad overpriced we felt at £130 per room for single occupancy. Pleasant but nothing special

Although we weren't there for long, as we were on the island for a wedding, when we were there, we had a lovely comfortable stay, with a cracking breakfast the next day. Thank you.

Nice quiet room and excellent breakfast. Shower didn’t work on the first morning but this was quickly rectified. Extremely friendly and helpful staff.

What you would expect from a early 1800's pub/inn. Full of character. Room small but comfortable and clean. Good tasty breakfast and friendly staff.

One night stop over

One night stop over in comfortable bedroom where our dog was allowed to stay in the room. Ate in the bar in the evening which was busy with locals as well as a few tourists - there was a good choice of dishes and our food was all fresh produce and perfectly cooked. Superb hearty cooked breakfast in the morning rounded everything off. Highly recommend.

4* highly recommended

The check-in was super easy. Loved the concept and of this "old" times pub accommodation. Even being an old building, it was clean and taked care off. The staff was accessible and we highly recommend you to have dinner there as the food smells amazing (we had the typical Sunday roast - huge portion and affordable). The only thing I would say it's that the shower had no pressure and the water was not hot enough for my partner.

Lovely fresh twin room

Lovely room. About 20 minutes walk from the needles and 20 minutes the other way to freshwater, with a nice off road route. Also right on the footpath to Tennyson downs so a nice loop along the downs to the needles and back. Takes about 1 3/4 hours. Room was lovely and fresh. Breakfast was superb. If you want dinner book a table as the pub gets busy. Lovely pub but shuts early , so if you are late back make sure you know how to get in ! Would definitely stay again. Great to be able to use Tesco vouchers for booking

The room, the food and drinks were very good. In contrast to the high standards in the property the bathroom was not up to standard. The grouting in the shower cubicle was black and needed replacing and there was nowhere to hang damp towels. This was all in contrast to the high standards elsewhere. Disappointing.

Perfect Location

Highdown Inn is a perfect location to explore the West IOW. The food and drink is excellent and the pub was packed every evening though this did not affect the comfort of our room. Although a little ‘worn out’ our room was clean and comfy. Good bedding and towels. My only complaint was the ridiculously watery shower gel/shampoo and body lotion . You could not pour it in your hand it just ran away before you could get it to your body! I finished up using 10 times more than I would with normal shower gel etc because most of it went down the plug! False economy

8/10 Very good

Great place to stay, if a little off the beaten track, regular bus stop a 20 minute walk(moderate pace.) The decor is faded and could do with an update, bed was really comfy, the staff were excellent and the the food was really good.

I only stayed for one night but wishing I stayed for longer now! The staff were very friendly and helpful. Absolutely loved the space, the bedroom was comfortable and clean, and gave a very homey b&b feeling. I took transit and found it fairly straightforward to get to. And its an easy walk to the Tennyson monument! Would definitely recommend!

We had a great afternoon and evening. Lucy and Sean were very friendly and welcoming as were the rest of the staff. The menu options and food was brilliant and the music in the garden was an added bonus. We will return!

6/10 Good

It’s the most wonderful location and for that reason we would stay again, it’s quiet and the staff are lovely. The room cleanliness is poor and the cost per night doesn’t correlate, the decor is very tired too.

Perfect for us

Perfect twin room, not the biggest but everything you need, bright, cheerful and very well presented. Friendly staff, nothing too much trouble. Dinner in the evening was delicious with a good selection of real ales. Breakfast room (not in the main pub) is lovely and lots of choice. Parking right outside, very handy for the Tennyson Memorial and a walk to the Needles. Can’t fault it and will definitely come back.

Excellent bed and breakfast

Very welcoming staff, excellent locally sourced breakfast. Very tempting menus on the blackboard in the bar - it was a shame we were already booked to eat elsewhere! Next time...
