Lots to see in this typical seaside resort. The hills certainly give the calves a workout! Great fish & chips, check. Nice harbour, check. Stunning views, check. Arcades, check. What more do you want? Ok, how about, the abbey and Bram Stokers seat?

Whitby is a fantastic town. Medieval cobble Streets and a great beach, not to mention the beautiful Abbey. Ideally located for the national park, stunning scenery and georgious coastal villages to visit. We went for Goth Weekend, not to be missed.

A beautiful and magical place with the sea on one side and the moors on the other. The perfect place to escape real life and just enjoy the nature, quaint cobblestone streets and local delicacy.

Whitby is great, but it's not all about Whitby. It's about outdoor centres-North Yorkshire, Moors and much more. Great for children and families as well as couples.

My girlfriend and I would seriously recommend visiting the Abbey and nearby church and going on a boat tour out to sea from Whitby Harbour and back again. We thought that "Trencher's", opposite the railway station, served the best fish and chips.

Whitby is a superb fishing town with an incredible amount of gothic history. It is now quite commercialised but it still retains its charm. It is quite hilly but the beach is flat so depending on where you're staying you can walk on the beach.

Great place, good views, good restaurants. Good pubs, many with entertainment available. Cons, too many irresponsible dog owners (I tripped and fell over two on leads across a shop entrance, and my colleagues also had near misses).

A lovely seaside town with plenty of activities to fill a few days for a quick weekend away or for a longer trip! Such a friendly town too - everyone we met was very friendly and chatty!

Loads to do in local area, had the most amazing fish and chips at Magpies Cafe. Around £40 for a family of 4 eating in great service too. The abbey was a must see too!
"The room was on the second floor but was just about manageable for me with a back condition. The room was clean, a bit of updating would be good as it was quite dated. The room faced the main road and was busy with traffic and also very noisy with the amount of seagulls that gathered but that is normal in a seaside town. Tamsin the owner was lovely and very helpful and accommodating. The English breakfast was lovely and included in the price. I would stay there again but preferably choose a room on the first floor next time."
"A very comfortable room, clean and tidy. It had everything we needed. We appreciated the fridge being available, and tea and coffee. Easy to get to the beach and town centre. Thank you so much for a lovely stay!"
"We stayed for two nights at The Royal. We had a room which had just been refurbished and was lovely. The Hotel had been painted and renovated since there last year when we stayed one night. The staff were all kind, helpful and polite. We had breakfast which was really good. We will certainly stay again. The Royal is really close to Whitby Bay."
"Great stay with my daughter. Couldn’t fault it at all. It’s a lovely place in such beautiful surroundings, nice bit of an old fashioned feel to it. Staff were brilliant, and all the food was delicious "
"The Wilson Inn is a lovely pub and restaurant with really comfortable rooms and decor. We stayed for 2 nights and everything was so clean including the modern bathroom . Staff were friendly and meals were excellent including the breakfast. Only a couple of miles from Whitby and lots of other places of interest, including the North Yorkshire Moors steam railway and Goathland. Would definitely recommend."
"Loved our stay in the shepherds hut. Great family get away in a lovely location. Fun alternative to our usual camping. Lovely facilities, amazing welcoming staff and delicious breakfast. Short drive to all local destinations…wish we had stayed another night! "
"The room was great for our needs, very spacious with comfortable beds and a large bathroom. I was holidaying with my teenage granddaughter and the twin beds gave us plenty of room.
It was about a 10 minute walk to the harbour (anout 30 minutes to walk back, it's a very steep hill! Dont believe google maps that says mostly flat!)
There is a bus stop outside the hotel but we didn't use it. However, on our last evenung we had a taxi and it was £4.50."
