"The hotel was fascinating with its history on display through pictures, art, antiques and the quirkiness of a centuries old building. We enjoyed Sunday roast dinner and the full breakfast. The staff were all very friendly and helpful with local advice. Our room was a mixture of antique decorations and a very modern bathroom filled with amenities. It was the perfect base for exploring the surrounding countryside and our crazy experiences at the famous cheese roll. I highly recommend a stay!"

"We were upgraded to an open-plan room which was very odd in design. It felt like the walls of the bathroom had not been built. The room was jaded but adequate for a night’s stay. The shower (in the room) was awful and kept cutting out. It ran out of hot water. The staff were very friendly and the public seating / bar areas looked good but we didn’t use them. Overall, perfectly adequate for a night’s stay and very central. A little underwhelming."

"Room was lovely good quality Teas, Nespresso coffee machine and king bed was huge and huge quality. Slept like a log. Bathroom shower was period and characterfull. B&O TV had amazing speakers and breakfast was excellent a-la-cart. Cant fault the experience. Shame was a work trip 😪 "
