If you need a clean, simple stay and you are on a budget, this place is perfect.
Pros: located in downtown, low prices, parking, perfect for couples, great atmosphere
Cons: old building, A/C, room size, communication (see details below)
The communication method is pretty much entirely through messaging. This can be a lot for someone who isn't tech savy, or someone who likes hotel service interactions. The building is very old, and the decor inside is really rustic and regal - but some of the units do not have AC units.
When I stayed here, the first room we had did not have an AC unit and only had a ceiling fan. Our room did not get below 85 degrees, and the windows did not stay open - so no air flow.
I reached out to the hotel via online messaging, they were extremely responsive. My only gripe was the fact that most of the communication was conducted via messaging. That being said - they were able to reassign us to another room with an AC unit and were extremely efficient through the process.
All in all - if you are traveling on a budget, if you only have 1 or 2 people traveling, and you want to stay in downtown San Diego - this is the perfect place for you. The overall experience was great, and I would be happy to stay again.
