This is a great little hotel. It is not fancy, but is clean, quiet, friendly, and has a very nice breakfast with lots of variety. It even has a pool. I would definitely stay here again!

Would not recommend

I am not a picky traveler and have never written a bad review before but I want others to avoid my mistake. I checked into the hotel for a 2 night stay. When I entered the room, the musty odor was overpowering and the carpets, furniture, and bedding were wet with humidity. 3 hours of running the air at full speed had not removed any of the moisture from the room. Even placing a towel on the couch before sitting on it, my clothes were wet when I stood up and smelled musty. The couch, pillows, and bedding smelled moldy/musty. Bathroom smelled strongly of urine. Due to a mold allergy I was coughing and congested within 3 hours, and my eyes started burning when I walked in the room. The hallways were also musty smelling and smelled of cigarette smoke despite the hotel claiming it was 100% smoke-free. I reported my dissatisfaction to the front desk and was told that they could give me a fan. I said I was unable to stay due to a mold allergy. I told them I realized I would not get a refund for the first night, but requested a refund for the second night. They said I had to go through hotels.com to request a refund. I filed a complaint with hotels.com and they requested a refund on my behalf, which was denied by Super 8. I'm not sure how this hotel gets an 8.4 review. I would not recommend staying here.

Wonderful customer service!

We were on a road trip from Minnesota to Texas and back. This was our first night. And I forgot my Mypillow in the room when we checked out! Called and Shannon at the front desk confirmed it was there. Said they could ship it back to our house in Minnesota. Wonderful customer service!

Poor service,humid room, no compensation

It was awful . The room was so humid we couldn’t get dry and all of our clothes remained damp. We got locked out of our room and the room hadn’t been cleaned. We went to the front desk at 10 pm. No one was there. There was a sign they would be back in 10 minutes. We waited 20 and called the police. They wouldn’t do anything unless we had a child or pet locked in a room. After 30+ minutes the worker came on and insisted she had only been gone 10 minutes. A mann out her who didn’t work there said he couldn’t believe we got the”cops involved.” Something wasn’t right. She wouldn’t give us towels until we brought the dirty ones back. Eventually she did but refused to give us wash cloths. She was so rude and insisted we had put a sign out. Never ever again! No compensation. We were there 3 nights!!

No ownership

The hotel and room were clean and nice. The only complaint we had was the rooms were not prepped for humid days. Because of the humidity, the rooms were damp, the bed was even wet and smelled bad. When we brought it up to the staff, they brushed us off not taking any ownership and just have an excuse of the humidity. We almost did not go back. However we did not want to lose our money. We turned up the air conditioner and the 2nd day was a little better. Other hotels in the area did not have this problem so why just this one. We had friends staying down the road and that hotel was great.

I needed a room as I had been driving all day. I was exhausted. The hotel staff were friendly- the hotel is very outdated. The bed was super comfortable. Room smelled old but other than that for the price it worked great!

The house staff and front desk are wonderful. The air conditioner worked as far as cooling but needs to dehumidify as well. The floor was damp and sticky! Swam on Saturday afternoon, suits were still wet Monday morning. The fan in the bathroom is for noise purpose only. We planned on reusing shower towels, not an option, as they had not dried at all. I grew up in the area and am fully aware of the outdoor humidity levels, the air conditioner was not working properly in many rooms. The pool needs attention. The breakfast was great.

Affordable and safe place to stay.

We stayed here one night, as had stayed here before on trips to NE Iowa & was an easy, accessible location in relationship to our planned activities in Cedar Falls. There is no elevator in this motel... so tromping UP the stairs wasn't fun with a lot of luggage. Easy going down, though! 😊 My main issue is poor ventilation... at this motel and also one in Grundy Center. The rooms were damp with moisture/ poor ventilation from showers and also possibly the high outdoor humidity (not a fault of the motel, I know!)... but literally the carpet was soggy underfoot if your feet were bare, despite the AC being on. We had stayed earlier in the trip at a DMoines motel.. and they place a dehumdifier in EVERY room to combat this summer problem (besides AC). But, this motel, as said earlier is in an excellent location for access to the main highways.. it IS affordable , one does feel safe at it, the breakfast offered was good , the bed & shower were good! My only big criticism is the lack of ventilation/ high humidity problem in the room/ hallways, etc..... these easily lead to moldy conditions.
