Great little night away
We arrived early and the room was ready so we got straight in. When we walked in we all just went wow, we weren't expecting so much space and such a quirky room steeped in character and fun. There were 3 of us and we all got our own bed as there was a hidden pull out bed under the sofa and they all turned out so comfortable, once my head hit the pillow I didn't wake up until the following morning which is unheard of for me.the bathroom was huge and amazing.i couldn't fault this property. We were there for a cinema showing in Alnwick castle and found the castle was a 2 minute walk round the back of the pub which was perfect. We loved that the pub was haunted but unfortunately didn't see any ghosts..

Quite simply the best place we have ever stayed at. Conveniently positioned in Alnwick with the largest plushest room I have stayed. Food magnificent for its pricing. Staff superb. I cannot fault a single part of our stay.

The property is certainly quirky, and not quite what we expected, but not in a bad way, just different. Food was excellent, and the portions are ginormous. staff are all lovely, and wonderful to talk to. Absolutely love the local accent, could listen for hours. No complaints at all.

Quirky
Beautiful, atmospheric, quirky period hotel with tasteful touches referencing it's association to "Harry Potter". The staff were all attentive & friendly. The food was delicious and cooked to perfection. Our room "Bondgate" was very comfortable with a gorgeous bathroom, & roll top bath. Highly recommend.

Staff were lovely but my goodness one of the worst breakfasts I've ever been served. Left it and just ate some toast.
The floor in the bedroom creaked horrendously and the bed made just as much noise everytime I turned over waking my wife.

Boutique hotel standard rooms above a restaurant
This is a restaurant that has very recently started offering accommodation so everything is new and spotlessly clean. The attention to detail is impressive. Our room and bathroom were both large and well thought out. The person making the decisions has an eye for detail and design. The location is perfect for a visit to Alnwick town and castle, and the surrounding countryside and beaches. It was a great experience staying there, and the food's good too.

Lovely and comfortable
Stayed here for 1 night to break up a journey. We didnt arrive until late and the staff were very busy with the dinner service but were kind and helpful. Showed us to our room. Breakfast in the morning was delicious, you had to preorder the night before but lots of choice. Staff very friendly and helpful. We stayed in the bondgate room, very nicely decorated and comfortable. Only downside I would say that it was very hot and there was no blanket available as an alternative to a full winter quilt.

Our room was gorgeous- but the staff in every area were less than hospitable to the point my husband and I came to the conclusion that their attitudes must come from the top (management). It’s tricky to get to, the stairs and steep to the accommodations (expected for such an old structure), the breakfast was good- service wasn’t.
It’s a balanced review I believe- would I stay here again? Probably.

Great winter two night break.
Really good pub. The rooms are warm and comfortable. Some are Harry Potter themed. The pub is an interesting warren so you need to be able to manage your luggage. The food is excellent although portions are huge. The beer and wine were good and the service is friendly.
The pub is hard my the castle which is closed mid winter as are the gardens. We followed an interesting town trail and there is a magnificent little museum which illustrates the social history of Alnwick. Alnmouth with its lovely beach is close by.
