Tucked into the Umpqua Valley, this lumber town has evolved beyond its timber roots. Cast a line in the South Umpqua River where fish seem almost eager to bite. The Douglas County Museum reveals local history with unexpected depth – Johnny Cash once dedicated 'Lumberjack' to this unassuming place. Wine enthusiasts can sample award-winning Pinot Noir at Reustle Prayer Rock Vineyards or explore Melrose Vineyards' tasting room. Stewart Park offers riverside trails perfect for morning walks before the mist burns off. Winchester Dam provides a fascinating glimpse of salmon migration, while nearby vineyards dot hillsides that were once exclusively timber territory. The town's unpretentious restaurants serve portions that suggest logging appetites never quite disappeared.

SureStay by Best Western Roseburg
"Great stay. Little noisy on the interstate side of hotel"
My Place Hotel-Medford OR
"Staff was incredibly helpful and very kind. Justin, Eddie and the other guy…. Unfortunately the hotel was not as described online. It was very nice and comfortable but there was no gym as indicated and Jo breakfast as also indicated. They are going through a remodel and apparently that’s why. We were told we could purchase breakfast. The elevator floors were very dirty but other than that it was great."
Comfort Inn & Suites Ashland
"Breakfast was great! Had ample room for parking my big truck and trailer. Nice room, will stay again when in the area."
Rogue Regency Inn Medford Airport
"Traveled from Washington to California on I5, so we stopped here for the night. The room was clean and comfortable. The free breakfast was good. The man who checked us in was very friendly, but not very helpful. Rather than volunteering the information, I had to ask the times and location for breakfast. He also didn’t give us the Wi-Fi password, and it wasn’t on any of the documentation. I called the front desk and got the information, but it didn’t work well and was basically useless (maybe that’s why they don’t make an effort to provide it at check-in!)"
Comfort Inn Roseburg
"Quiet. Nice breakfast"
Riverside Inn
"Wonderful stay in a great room overlooking the river!"
Prospero's Flagship Inn
"Good"
Red Lion Inn & Suites Grants Pass
"Everything was great except the wifi and TV. No guide to tell you what is on the channels. Wifi is slow and is not password protected."
Riverfront Inn Roseburg
"We had a nice view of the river on our patio. The rooms are clean. Close to a lot of restaurants in walking distance. Nice continental breakfast. Staff was very nice and helpful. I would suggest fans in the bathrooms but thats really my only suggestion."
