We chose the penthouse, because I felt like a penthouse would be good. It wasn’t. We flew late at night from the US only to learn that the penthouse was on the 5th floor and they didn’t have an elevator. This made it impossible to stop by quickly at the hotel to get a hat or quickly change a shirt. We didn’t stay. We left the same night and went and stayed at their sister property with an elevator. From what I could see, the penthouse terrace was nice but I wasn’t about to do stairs the whole time.

We were in a "Deluxe" room which was too small by normal standards - cramped interior with things hemmed in! There was not much space to freely move around. My stay at the Aria Boutique Hotel was fantastic! The staff were very quick in replying to my messages when I requested airport transfer to the hotel, which was especially important after my long flight didn't arrive until after 11pm. The taxi they arranged got my trip off to a good start. Check-in was very easy and I loved the room. There were so many little things that combined to provide a great experience. I still smile about the various door hangers that I could choose from. Having breakfast (great Nepali omelette) at any time was great when I was recovering from early or late travelling. The hotel is in a great location, just a short walk to Durbar Square and the Garden of Dreams, while also next to all the restaurants, shops and bars in Thamel, and the hotel spa gave an excellent massage to relax my legs from all the walking and exploring. The hotel reception were so helpful in booking and giving suggestions about tours, which gave me 3 incredible days of memories. All in all - excellent and I'd definately stay there again!

They first put me in a room that had mildew. When I complained, they moved me to another room with less mildew. On my last night, I saw two cockaroaches in this room. Also, the water is discolored. This hotel is NOT a 4 star hotel. Not worth the price at all. Highly recommend you stay elsewhere.

The hotel staff are friendly and room ready when arrived. Room was clean, good WiFi. Breakfast is good with a good variety. It can be a little noisy, but that is Thamel in Kathmandu. So try to get a higher room or one facing the quieter street. Location is great for Thamel and walking to Durbar Square.
