We were on a guided tour and this one was chosen as it was close to the airport. The hotel was ok , but the room stank of smoke.. they quickly changed this for me, but it was a bit off putting.
Breakfast was ok

Suited our Needs
The hotel is older. They have very good service. There are a few good safe places to eat around the hotel too.

Nice place but not as good as I had hoped.
Hotel staff were excellent. The room was nice (Excecutive suite). The hotel has not been updated for many years, the elevator is not air conditioned and the bath water was stained (unkown if rust or just local water supply). The furniture was worn and on some edges worn out. The mattress was very firm (hard). The view of the city was very nice from the 9th floor, but the clear glass windows that encase the elevator shaft have not been cleaned in a long time and the glass support beams were very mildewed and black stained which throws off the beautiful view it would otherwise have provided. The free breakfasts were very good with a wide range of selections, but there are very few changes throughout our stay (10 days). Overall it is an ok hotel though the price is a little on the high side. The wi-fi was not very good, consistent or fast and I had to constantly re-log in. Only 2 devises per password, though they did provide me with a second password when I told them that my wife and I each had a smart phone and laptop.

Good place if you have to be close to airport
Value for money. The location is close to the airport, so to avoid the traffic and somewhere nice to stay without breaking the 'piggy-bank' a good place to stay. The buffet breakfast is great as it offers Asian and western dishes, also an upstairs Chinese restaurant that has authentic dishes. Staff are friendly and pleasant with arrival and departure well coordinated. The rooms are large and the beds comfortable. The bathroom toiletry products use palm-oil as a base, a nice change to the normal run-of-the-mill products. The internal gym is also well stocked. Good place to be if you have to be close to the airport.

"Old school" charm. An improvement would be if the shower floor was separated from the rest of the bathroom. And the infamously slow internet could be improved.

Good location if you do not need to be Downtown.
Hotel Yangon is ideal if your main interest is NOT in the downtown area. Traffic is terrible at all times, so in my case, I was interested only in going to sights in the North of Yangon. I visited the Insein area, and also met friends at Yankin area. Missed all the traffic. But if you have not visited Downtown - Scotts market, etc - then a hotel in the city centre may be better. Hotels there will definitely be much more expensive and less good value.

Close to the Airport
Old and in need of a renovation. Staff were friendly but not very well trained. Reasonable hotel for the price but wouldn't stay there again. There are many hotels that are better.

Conveniently near airport; great base 2see Yangon
The location is very close to the airport, and north of the heavier traffic of downtown Yangon. But still an easy taxi drive into downtown to see all the sites. They have basic gift shops. Food at restaurant was adequate (Western & Burmese). Room was spacious and clean. The best part of the experience was the front desk service. They spoke English, and the main morning lady at the front desk really went above and beyond to arrange taxi & bus tickets for out of town. The front desk was very friendly. Will stay here if in Yangon again. It is not the most fancy or a 5 Star Hotel, but it is adequate. Highly recommend.

2 Weeks at the Hotel Yangon
I was in Yangon on business and needed to be near the airport and stayed at this hotel for two weeks. The hotel staff are very pleasant and professional and the rooms are standard. The location is excellent at 8 Mile Junction. The hotel has a buffet style breakfast that becomes very boring after a few days. There are no substantive changes to the menu. The wifi system in the hotel is bad and not suitable for uploading or downloading documents. The system interrupts regularly causing errors in uploads. You have to re-log in over the course a few hours for no reason. The electricity randomly goes out in the rain.
