Bad experience. I booked the room 1 week in advance but no room available for me when check-in and "upgraded" me to a most remoted unwanted suite by the end of corridor, while there were actually many other room choices. I wandered if the hotel was really that full that could not give me the type of room i booked. Anyway, i requested to change my room the next day and they agreed. However, when i checked with them the next day, they said they did not have record of my request and still insisted that they have no room available. I was surprised. Finally they agreed to change me the room but emphasized that this was supposed to be reserved for another customer and gave me the feeling that i was making trouble and they were just doing a favour to me! Come on, i am a customer too. Why other people can have room but ignored mine! (If the hotel was really so fully booked, then why they accepted my reservation in the first hand!)
Payment: I made full advance payment at hotels.com during booking, and they acknowledged when I checked out. But after i left, the hotel charged all room charges on my credit card again! I had to call long distance back to the hotel to ask for a reason and refund. (Upto now, the refund had not shown on my card bill yet)
This is a very ridiculous and bad experience. I used to stay in various Accor hotels every month but this Mercure had the lowest performance i have ever had so far.
Lastly, the "new" room decoration looked old.
