6/10 Good

The property is very old - which was charming but also created issues. The plumbing was weak and the toilets would barely flush after 3 tries. We had the apartment room which was plenty spacious and neat but I wonder if it was made out of the attic because the walls were angled. This was particularly problematic in the bathroom. The shower had an angled wall in it as well as a low shower head. My son who is 6’3” had to shower on his knees. It also didn’t have a shower curtain so the floor was wet a lot after showers. Breakfast consisted of crepes and coffee- they were good but that was all that was offered. The surrounding area had a horrible smell at night- it seemed like it was coming from the canal but smelled like sewage. One of the nights we were there, there was some sort of alarm that went off repeatedly through the night which kept me up. No one spoke English when we checked in- which was fine as we were in France! but I had a hard time finding our room in the dark hallway as there were no lights on upstairs. Sometimes the lights were on and sometimes they weren’t. We just started turning them on when we came through. None of these were terrible issues and the place was very clean which is my biggest priority in a hotel but they are things to be aware of. The location was great in that town and parking was easy right at the front door.

Stayed here in a motorcycle tour. Staff allowed us to park in back yard, all nice and secure. Was a stop off on our way to the Caen ferry, pretty ideal really. Lots of nationalities staying here. Lovely staff and nice restaurant.

Great property right on the waterfront. That being said there was a massive Ferris wheel right across from our room! Now I know why there were ear plugs. The Ferris wheel did not stop until midnight so plan to stay up until then. Rooms were clean and location is great to access Juno Beach and amenities. Not enough staff at restaurant which resulted slow orders.

We loved this hotel! Very conveniently located at the beach and across the street from the big Ferris wheel. Walking distance to all the sights in Courseulles-sur-mer. The room was clean and medium-spacious but didn’t have a lot of room for luggage or our things. We had a double and and a twin bed in ours which were comfy and clean. Windows opened onto the street which was more quiet than I would have thought. The reception area is beautiful, with a large dining room that is its own restaurant but also the breakfast room. In my mind it was a very iconic look for the Normandy coast. One drawback is the parking situation. There was nothing available when we arrived so I had to park quite far away, although there appeared to be many more spots available in the morning when we left - maybe it was just our timing. I would definitely return to this hotel!

Excellent restaurant, Good to Average hotel
The staff were excellent, the hotel was very well located and generally really nice. The apartment room was great for a family, but was too warm. It could do with air conditioning. Also the toilet room wasn't at all pleasant, the floor had old soaked up urine around the toilet and smelt terrible, and the toilet and floor really need completely replacing. The shower is also badly placed under a sloping roof so we needed to kneel down to shower, and there is no way to stop water going all over the bathroom floor. The soap for the sink is also attached to the wall really high up which was impossible for children to reach so they had to ask help to wash their hands. Finally in a hotel it would be nice to have a small sink unit in the toilet room. Otherwise, the beds and sofa were comfy, the fridge and sink were helpful, the restaurant and staff at the hotel were very very good, especially for dinner. We were expecting a bit more choice at breakfast (for example having hot food as well as cold), but it was adequate for one morning. No one was around for early check out (we had to leave at 6:30am for the ferry) so we just had to leave the key.

A one night stay for work. The room was very small. Also the noise of the kitchen staff putting bins out at 11pm could easily be heard. Other than that it was nice with a good restaurant
