We booked a non sea view and a sea view room. The sea view room had less sea view. We were not supposed to bath (water restrictions) the shower head was broken - sprayed the entire room and suddenly hot or cold. We asked to have this replaced more than once, it was not. The room was so dark we could not read or do ablutions (such as put in contact lenses), we were told many bulbs were wrongly bought and it could not be replaced. We bought different bulbs and replaced it. Smoke in rooms from fireplace (especially if windy). Guests smoking in eating area and everywhere. Owners seemed relaxed, but appeared a bit more comfortable with tourist guest role than proprietor role. Beach violent crime - so be aware and careful - don't take belongings with - or rather use different beach. Don't get a fright if something falls onto you during the night - just tiny geckos dropping from the roof - harmless. Consider security risks in area - there is one guard available, but the hotel is rather exposed to public. Crime rates in Cape Town high. The strengths - friendly staff, very good food and view of sunset if right time of year, good breakfast, wonderful and unique nature setting (if no fires - 100 fires started a day in Cape Town and this is a high risk area). We might return (with bulbs and a shower head), as we like quiet, nature and not in city center, we don't mind roughing it a bit, but we won't recommend it to friends.
