The hotel staff went above and beyond helping us, even after we checked out and had to make it to the airport for a late flight. We were able to walk everywhere from the hotel, though the V&A area is a bit of a hike - took us about 25 minutes. Breakfast is delicious.

KLM fed me some poisoned breakfast on the 2nd leg of a 3-legged dog, 32 hour journey here, leaving me vomiting from both ends on the flight from AMS to CPT. This gave me the perfect excuse to do what I came here to do - absolutely nothing. I'm going into day 3 of a 4 day stay and have only left the hotel once to get anti-acid from the store down the street. I just wanted to come here to say I went to Africa. I dont want to annoy a lion or try to bury some white guilt in visiting Nelson Mandela's...

4 tips for savvy savings when booking a hotel in Cape Town
Book for the cheapest times: Visiting Cape Town on a budget is a great value for money, especially during June to August when hotel rates may drop to lower prices. For a fulfilling experience exploring key landmarks, history, and cultural attractions like museums, tours, shopping, and hiking, a stay of at least 3 to 4 days is ideal. This period offers an affordable opportunity to enjoy the city's notable coral reefs, mountains, and sea views, with sightseeing and seafood experiences that could drop costs even further.
Look for last-minute deals on Hotels.com: Hotels.com offers Dealsopens in new window and Last-Minute Deals that may help you save on your Cape Town getaway. To catch a last-minute offer, browse the dedicated sections, or enable alerts to receive updates on flash sales and special promotions. With the Smart Shopping tool available on the app, you're more likely to see a comparison of hotel prices and amenities for your preferred accommodations. This way, if rooms become available or prices drop, you'll be among the first to know, making it easier to plan your trip.
Be flexible with dates: Prices may vary depending on factors like the hotel’s location, star rating, and time of year, so being flexible with your travel dates might help you save on your Cape Town hotel stay. For travelers seeking distinctive accommodations, boutique hotels may provide a more personalized experience and sometimes offer better value. When you book with Hotels.com, we’ll indicate if the price for your chosen dates is higher or lower than average, and if it’s on the higher side, we may suggest more affordable dates to help you potentially find a better deal.
Consider your location: Hotels near the city center usually tend to be more expensive, but thanks to Cape Town's excellent public transportation, you might discover a more affordable independent hotel a bit further out that’s still well connected. If you’re interested in exploring alternative, less crowded neighborhoods or even lesser-known nearby cities, you can often find great value for your money. Opting for these alternative destinations could provide a more authentic and budget-friendly experience.
