Very nice hotel in a gorgeous setting in the woods in the hills above Cochem. A bit hard to find, even with GPS, as the address is on the main road, where another hotel sits. One must turn down the road and drive about 300 yards to find the hotel. The property is beautiful, with a stream running next to the hotel and a nice hiking trail that heads up into the hills. The hotel is quaint, with a lot of old world charm. The rooms are recently remodeled, with nice modern bathrooms. The only downside to the rooms is the smell of cigarette smoke permeating the hallways and seeping into the rooms a bit at times. But we found that during our 2 weeks in Europe, smokers are everywhere, and I think we were immune to it by this time!
The rooms are decent size by European standards, with nice views of the woods or hills. The beds and pillows were very comfortable. Be advised, like many European hotels, the beds are 2 twins pushed together, so it makes it a bit tough to "snuggle" without the beds sliding apart and creating a divide! The rooms were also quiet, with no noise or sound from outside coming in.
The hotel has ample free parking and is only 5 minutes ride Cochem. We had no problem finding parking in Cochem on a summer weekend. It looked like a shuttle bus is available for 2 Euro per person, one way. We were able to park in Cochem for less than than it would have cost to ride the bus.
A nice quiet get away - highly recommended for couples or families.
