Afternoon tea and breakfast offerings were always-changing and unique. We enjoyed the privacy of our cottage room, but the community of the house and dining. Cottage Inn staff was all friendly and helpful! The proximity to everything was very convenient. The water pressure was incredible as well.

BnB not recommended

This was part of a larger trip. There are not many options for staying in Bar Harbor. Most are these old victorian houses. The person who greeted us was not welcoming. The room was very basic, a bit like staying in a Motel 6. Nothing hospitable about the property. The cleaning person sat outside of our room (6ft away), waiting for us to check out on the day we left so that she could clean the second we left the room. When I went to give my key back, the woman (who has entertaining personal friends at the front desk for coffee) asked me how everything was. When I said, 'Umm, it was okay'. Hoping this would open conversation, she said 'okay, I'll take your key, bye'. She went back to conversation again with friends. I had to interrupt their conversation to ask for a milk alternative when grabbing to go coffee on the way out. She seemed perturbed. Not sure there is much to offer in Bar Harbor for nice places, however, this place at over $600 a night was awful. How embarrassing for these properties that they are overcharging their guests in these tourist like areas while delivering a sub par stay.

Great Stay

It was a one-night stay. Very close to Main Street, Bar Harbor, with it's shops and restaurants; easy parking; very comfortable room; helpful staff; great breakfast. We would stay here again.

The Sand Bar Cottage is the best place to stay in Bar Harbor! Arrive, unload, and stay parked while you walk and enjoy all that Bar Harbor & Acadia has to offer. Not worrying over finding parking was the greatest perk, but the entire property was beautiful with blooming flowers and the staff were all extremely helpful and hospitable. Our cottage was absolutely perfect.

Sand Bar Cottage Inn greets you with beautiful gardens, a welcoming front porch and lots of smiles. We made the BEST CHOICE of a place to stay on Bar Harbor. As a airline family, both of us have spent a lot of time in hotels and wanted something different for our Bar Harbor stay. Comfortable beds, clean showers and charmng decor greet every visitor. The owner, Chris, is a delightful person and his personality is shown through the employees, decor and all. Oh, let's not forget the breakfasts! These are AMAZING!!! and to top it off, there are cookies and cake every afternoon tea! We are definitely going to be back!

This was a beautiful, clean, and fabulous B&B with a great walkable location to downtown Bar Harbor. Its gardens were an absolute feast for the eyes! Our room was lovely and private and Kris, the caretaker, was friendly and informative. The breakfasts were wonderful too. Our stay there was all too short.

We had booked here for a one night stay in July 2025 but when we arrived we loved it and decided if we could we would love to stay for another night. Chris was very accommodating and got us an another night here. This was nothing but fantastic! Excellent location, staff were phenomenal and the property was nothing but beautiful indeed and well kept. I would highly recommend this hotel and Chris and his staff were very friendly and we were treated with the utmost respect. BTW we had breakfast there both mornings and it was Devine! Can’t wait to come back❤️

This was our first stay at a b&b, Chris & the staff at sand bar cottage made it perfect from start to finish. Location is perfect and walkable to anything in town. Fresh breakfast every morning & outdoor live music & cocktails before dinner was great. Room was very clean. Will definitely be returning!

I would stay there every day and twice on Sunday. They had an amazing breakfast every morning, tea time at three each day with dessert and drinks, music night, and the location was the BEST. We were greeted with the warmest welcome from Kenesha who was very kind and helped us out to book an additional night. Our luggage was transferred to a new room the next day while we were hiking. So the transition was smooth and with no delay. Chris was extremely friendly and was around the property every day. I loved the happy relaxed atmosphere and felt like visiting a family. We stayed in Acadia Cottage which was a lovely space with the only slight inconvenience - AC unit felt a bit too loud since I have a high sensitivity to noise. We got lucky and were able to sleep with open windows. It was very quiet outside since the room is tucked in all the way in the back of the property. Parking was a bit challenging at times but there was always enough space available. Daily breakfast was quite exquisite and freshly brewed coffee was available all day together with an afternoon treat. We also got to enjoy a life music right in the beautiful garden next to the main house. Overall, it was everything we were hoping for. Thank you Chris for being such an amazing host!
