I booked hotel under my name for my friend. I should have changed name. It's my fault, but hotel staff insisted to change name who will actually stay at the hotel through Expedia and before then he kept my friend waiting at the lobby for more than an hour. I thought he just wanted to talk to me over the phone who booked hotel and let my friend in, but he didn't let my friend in until I called him back after I found that there's no way that Expedia can change name of the booking.
What will be worst case to hotel? After they let my friend check in, another guy (?) show up and claim it's my room? Then, they can just kick out my friend. So, maybe the hotel staff just could have asked guarantee from me and my friend that we will give up room if the booking is not real and somebody show up and I'll have Expedia change the name later. I think it's customer mind rather than keeping my friend out there.
Expedia customer service is also useless. I called Expedia UK and Spain, but they just kept saying that I have to call to Expedia Korea as I booked through Expedia Korea and they do not have access to Expedia Korea though I kept telling them it's 10 PM in Korea and there's no body answering. What an worldwide customer service! They can't just listen to customer and try to give real help to customer? They can't just make call to hotel and explain they can't change name due to different system at Korea and ask hotel to accept my friend to check in conditionally?
