Great stay
We had a great stay at this hotel. So clean and fresh. Very central to all yorks attractions and shops. Only thing I would say is that we had not been informed that you need to prebook parking at the the q park shambles car park. As we thought they'd be able to validate our parking ticket but on check out we were informed that this was no longer possible so we had to pay full price which worked out pretty expensive without the discount. So just for others to take note of this and I think hotel.com should make you aware of this at time of booking.

Central modern Hotel, hard bed.
Hotel close to City centre and tourist attractions. Staff helpful and polite. Room clean, modern looking. Large shower.and large TV but apps on TV dont have strong enough internet to stream. Bed was hard and very low. Sofa area nice touch but not that comfortable. Englush breakfast choice limited.

When we arrived I was very disappointed as the room smelt very damp and the smell was coming from the bathroom which was unbearable. There were opening windows and therefore no way of escaping the smell. Informed reception staff who came up to our room with a spray which in my option masked the smell so I asked to move rooms. We moved to another room which was better but still had no opening windows.

there was a derelict piece of waste ground next to the hotel but it wasnt a problem. The hotel was perfectly situated for everything. The staff were helpful and friendly. The room was well appointed and comfortable. We will definately use again

Not a great nights sleep
The bed side lamp began to buzz and the light began to flicker at 5am. The lamp was turned off and couldn’t be unplugged, therefore we had to try to sleep with the light on, which was impossible. I made the front staff aware but all they said was they would notify maintenance.

There is no parking at the hotel
Hotels do not like this review. The hotel itself was extremely good. The reason for the One star review is that Hotels.com totally misleads customers into thinking there is parking at the hotel. THERE IS NOT! The hotel check-in advised that there were 2 discounted parking facilities in the city centre but trying to find a place the Sunday before Christmas was incredibly challenging and stressful. The hotel also informed us that they are aware that Hotels.com advertise parking and that the hotel has made them aware of the issue. Do not advertise parking available but instead be honest and say that any parking needs to be found by the customer.
