Malibu Country Inn
"great location, peaceful, quiet and beautiful! has sea and mountain views. Staff was helpful and friendly. Our room had no phones, broken blinds, no hot water heating kettle and a leaking fridge, was not cleaned inside. Balcony was not cleaned. We had to check out early, just one day: due to flood warnings and coastal high waves. But the hotel refused to refund the money. very bad. Hotels .com does not help either. Has good parking and good view, great location."

"Wonderful stay. Right on the Malibu beach! Easy check-in process."
SA Beach by Stay Awhile Villas
"We had an excellent stay at SA Beach #8. The location on Carbon Beach is hard to beat—the ocean views from the suite and private balcony are incredible, and having direct beach access made the entire stay feel special. We stayed for my girlfriend’s birthday, and it was the perfect setting. Waking up to the Pacific, having breakfast overlooking the water, and being able to walk straight down to the beach made for a memorable morning. The suite was clean, comfortable, beautifully designed, and exactly as represented. The Stay Awhile team was also extremely responsive and accommodating, including helping us with early access, a late checkout, and other requests throughout the stay. Great property, great location, and excellent service. We would absolutely stay here again. 5/5."

4 tips for savvy savings when booking a hotel in Malibu
- Book for the cheapest times: Malibu is a great destination on a budget, especially during January, November, and December when hotel prices may drop, offering affordable options for travelers. For those looking to explore Malibu's rich history and culture, attractions such as its famous beach, scenic sea views, sunset spots, and historic university make for a memorable trip. A stay of at least 2 to 3 days provides great value for money, allowing visitors to fully experience the area's landmarks, cultural sites, and natural attractions like hiking trails, wineries, cafes, surfing spots, and sports facilities.
- Look for last-minute deals on Hotels.com: To find last-minute deals to Malibu, check out the DealsOpens in a new window or Last-Minute Deals sections on Hotels.com, where you may discover discounted hotel options closer to your travel date. To stay informed about flash sales and special promotions, enable email alerts or push notifications from Hotels.com. Additionally, utilize the Smart Shopping tool via the app to compare hotel prices and amenities, increasing your chances of finding the best fit for your needs. This way, if rooms become available or prices drop, you'll be among the first to know, making it easier to plan your last-minute getaway.
- Be flexible with dates: Prices can vary based on factors like the hotel's location, star rating, and time of year, so being flexible with your dates may help you save on your Malibu hotel stay. Boutique hotels can provide a more personalized experience and may sometimes offer better value for those interested in unique accommodations. When you book with Hotels.com, we'll let you know if the price for your chosen dates is above or below the average, and if it appears to be on the higher side, we'll suggest other dates that could be more affordable.
- Consider your location: Hotels near the city center usually tend to be more expensive, but thanks to Malibu's excellent public transportation, you might find a more affordable independent hotel further out that’s still well connected. For those interested in exploring alternative, less crowded neighborhoods or even lesser-known nearby cities, there is often excellent value for money. Opting for these alternative destinations could provide a more authentic and budget-friendly experience.
