Hotel was fine, dated but functional- lift to first floor, I was on second.
Room ok, bed comfortable, shower over bath was fine but you have to climb in and out and nowhere to put shampoo etc.
I was very tired after a long day and drive, I got No sleep at all. Noise from extractors resonating through room and bed cutting out then starting again, made sleep impossible- There were sounds like rats in the roof above bed - I was informed that it was actually Seagulls walking around and certainly their annoying calls went on all night. Got up, showered ( slipped in the bath) checked out before breakfast was due to open but the staff sorted me out and it was very nice as were the staff. They were aware of the issue ( the managers should either soundproof the room or stop its use- hotel certainly wasn’t full) of noise from vents and kitchen appliances, also of the troublesome seagulls.
I was born in Aberdeen but my visit showed a city which has been wrecked by “environmental concerns” and commercial degradation, the ULEZ town centre and the creation of new “shopping centres “ appear to have wrecked it heart, there were more seagulls than people in Union Street and the few shops still open were empty as were the restaurants. What a shame.
Waste of £100 on hotel, taxi fares £20 ( because my car isn’t ULEZ compliant and a”city” centre restaurant whose food was disappointing but I don’t blame them as they had 6 covers all evening how can you cook good food when you don’t make money
